Stolen Identity: Mute Heiress

Chapter 212: You Look Wrecked

Jax and Chad sat alone in the living room playing PS, while Mari was busy setting up her phone in her bedroom.

As they played Jax thought about Mari and the chaste kiss she had given him in the kitchen. He almost chuckled when he remembered what she said about preferring a deeper kiss.

If Chad hadn't been there she'd definitely had gotten what she was looking for.

Now that she knew why he was keeping her under his roof and he was certain she wanted him, he didn't feel so inclined to remain aloof.

Chad spoke, breaking into his thoughts. "I will be stepping out to meet with Venita after I win this game. She says she's not coming anywhere close to you until Mari leaves and you apologize to Diva."

Jax snorted. "That's never going to happen…"

"Which? Apologizing to Diva? Or Mari leaving?" Chad asked with a chuckle.

"You winning the game. Mari will leave when it's time for her to leave, and we both know I'm not apologizing to Diva. Venita can stay away for as long as she likes…"

"Nah. Don't say that. I will talk to her. I can't have you both on bad terms over something like this. We'll resolve it. By the way, Mari said her birthday is this weekend," Chad said, changing the subject.

"Yeah." Jax didn't look at Chad, his attention was fixed on the screen.

"Isn't she receiving a gift this year? Perhaps you can deliver the gift in person this year," Chad suggested.

Jax's lips twitched. "I plan to do just that. Kindly stop encouraging her to mess with me."

Chad chuckled. "In case you haven't realized it yet, that girl doesn't need an encouragement to mess with you. Messing with you seems to be her favorite pastime activity. Besides, you seem to enjoying messing with her, too. She told me how happy you were yesterday when she fell for your trick."

Jax laughed as he remembered his interaction with Mari before Venita and Chad interrupted.

"I think Mari is coming," Chad said, and Jax turned to look.

"Goal!" Chad exclaimed happily when he seized the chance to score just as Mari joined them.

Jax scowled. "You scored only because I was distracted."

"Nobody cares for your excuse. I told you I was going to win. I won." Chad grinned as he set down the pad and then faced Mari. "Did you know Jax is a sore loser?"

Mari laughed as she sat on the couch between them, "I take it you won. Congrats."

Chad kissed her cheek as he rose, "Thanks. I'll leave you two to do whatever you do best when you're alone."

Mari scowled. "I was looking forward to spending time with you two."

"That will have to be another time, little mermaid…"

"Quit calling her that!" Jax hissed, surprising Mari and Chad.

"Why? Did Mari complain that she doesn't like it?" Chad looked from Jax to Mari.

Mari shook her head. "On the contrary I think it's sweet."

"See? The little mermaid thinks it's sweet. You should learn to mind your business, Jax." Chad smirked before walking away to go change his clothes.

Alone with Jax now, Mari looked at him with a wide smile. "Why don't you like the pet name? Are you jealous?"

Jax turned off the game and switched to Tv before looking at her. "Jealous that Chad gave you a pet name?"

Mari grinned at him. "Yeah. You can give me one if you want."

"Perhaps I should. Are you done talking with your friends?" Jax changed the subject.

"No. Jamal is busy. Emily should be in bed by now. I don't want to disturb her sleep…"

"How are you so sure? It's not like you know where we are," Jax pointed out.

Mari rolled her eyes. "I know we are not that far away from Ludus."

Jax raised a brow. "How do you know that? You checked the phone's location?"

Mari giggled. "No. I figured it out before you got me the phone. Two things. The time it took you to bring me here was short. Even though I was unconscious I don't think we traveled for long. Also, the time it took you to get my glasses was short."

Jax was impressed. "I see."

"Enjoy yourself," Chad called to them as he returned and headed for the door.

"So…" Mari drawled, her blue eyes gleaming with mischief now that they were fully alone.

"So what?" Jax asked, wondering what she was up to now. She always seemed to be up to something.

She grinned. "Let's talk about our first kiss."

To her surprise Jax chuckled. "Do you really call that a kiss? Was that the best you could do?"

Mari narrowed her eyes playfully, "Is that a challenge I hear in your voice? Cause if it is, I'm more than willing to take it up." Mari straddled him before he could respond.

Jax held her gaze but said nothing. If she knew how much he struggled for self control around her, she'd be scared.

"I know you like me, Jax. I know you want me as much as I want you. Can you stop acting like you don't want me?" She asked, and he raised a brow.

"Are you sure about that?" Jax asked in a husky voice.

"About what? You wanting me? I'm positive."

Jax smirked. "Not that. Are you sure you want me to stop acting like I don't want you?"

Something about the way he said it, and the way he stared at her made her pulse to scramble. "Yeah."

"Alright," Jax said as he took off her glasses with one hand, and slipped the other arm around her waist.

Mari gasped, taken aback by the unexpected movement.

"Let's have a proper first kiss, Maribel." His voice was husky as he glided his lips over her jaw. "I'm going to take what I want." He murmured as he brought her closer; his lips brushing her earlobe.

Mari's heart hammered in her chest and she felt hot all at once as his teeth scraped over her bottom lip before he crushed his mouth against hers.

Mari's head spun and her body pressed eagerly against his as he devoured her lips. Although she wasn't very experienced, she tried to match his passion, but she couldn't. Jax kissed her like he'd been hungry for so long and only her lips could satisfy his hunger.

She had always known that underneath the cool exterior was a very passionate man, but she never imagined something like this.

Mari could not breathe. Her hands clung to Jax's shirt as his lips devoured hers. His kiss was like a raging fire and she felt like she was melting.

When he pulled back a little, she let out a shaky breath. Her heart was beating so fast it hurt and she knew if she attempted to move now she'd slide down his thighs like she had no bones in her body.

Thankfully, Jax didn't let her go. His hand stayed on the small of her back. His thumb brushed her spine slowly, making goosebumps rise on her skin.

Mari's lips tingled. She licked them and tasted him again. Her cheeks burned.

He watched her with dark, half-lidded eyes. "You look wrecked," he said in a husky voice.

Mari tried to speak but her voice would not work. She nodded her head slowly instead.

Jax's mouth curved into a slow, knowing smile. "How is that for a first kiss?" he asked in a soft, rough voice.

Mari swallowed and tried to get her breath back. "You might just have impregnated me with your lips," she whispered, not daring to look away from his eyes.

Jax laughed. "I take it you've never been kissed that way."

Mari blushed. She didn't want to tell him he was the first guy she was kissing.

Something about the way she blushed and the inexperience of her lips as she kissed him back, made Jax pause. "This isn't your first kiss, is it?"

Her brows pulled together. "Was it that obvious?"

Jax blinked. Surprised that someone as brazen as she was had never been kissed.

If she had never been kissed, did that mean she had never had sex too? Jax wondered, staring at her but not sure how appropriate it was to ask her.

The more he stared at her, the more embarrassed she became. "I guess it was obvious. You must be used to more experienced ladies," she said, trying to stand up, but he pulled her back down.

Before she could say anything, he kissed her again. This time it was slower but deeper. His tongue brushed her lip and she gasped. He took that chance to taste her more.

Mari felt her whole body heat up. She wrapped her arms around his neck. She did not want him to stop.

When he pulled away again, he rested his forehead against hers. They were both breathing hard.

"Friendly advice, you should get off my lap now," Jax said, his voice a little hoarse.

Mari tried to move but her legs were weak. She giggled and hid her face in his chest. "My legs don't work anymore."

Jax chuckled as he gently lifted her and set her down on the couch beside him.

Mari reached for her glasses and put them on again. "I didn't think a kiss could feel that way." She tucked her hair behind her ear and looked at him shyly.

Jax looked at her, still stunned that she had never been kissed. "Not all kisses feel that way. I've never kissed anyone that way or felt that way kissing anyone," he confessed, and then leaned back and picked up the TV remote.

Mari bit her lip, her cheeks pink. "What do you mean?"

Jax turned his head slowly to look at her. "You'll find out eventually. No hurry."

He turned the TV on. But he didn't watch it. His mind was still on the way she had tasted and the way she had trembled against him.

He had not imagined that he'd feel so affected by a kiss. He could only imagine how making love to her would feel if kissing her felt this way.

He badly wanted to make love to her, but he didn't want to do that until he told her the truth about being her secret admirer, and he wanted to do it on her birthday when he gives her the gift.

Mari folded her legs under her and leaned closer. "Jax?"

"What?"

"This isn't going to be our only kiss, right?" She asked and he looked into her eyes.

"I told you, Maribel. I'm going to be taking what I want going forward."

Mari's heart skipped a beat, but before she could ask any other question, her phone rang with a call from Jamal.

"I have to take this. But we are not done with this conversation," Mari told Jax before receiving the call.
