Chapter 50 Rest Day (Part 1)_3

Tulin stretched out his hands, gesturing: "With a big scythe, swish, swish, swish, you can cut down a large area in no time. The men cut the grass, the women use rakes to gather it into piles. Everyone dresses up like it's a holiday, with floral skirts and white clothes, all dressed up. Sometimes, when we can't finish in one day, we spend the night on the meadow, singing, dancing, and heading home the next day with our big carts."

Tulin's voice grew smaller and eventually stopped inexplicably.

The Cavalry who had just asked the question listened intently, letting out a long sigh: "I hope the Civil Guard Officer can let us go home soon. You Dusans need to cut grass, and we 'Bumpkins' also need to harvest crops."

Beside him, another Cavalry of Dusack origin also sighed, worryingly saying: "Yeah, at home there's just the old folks and the women left, we don't even know if there's enough grass cut this year. Can the farm work be managed at all?"

"No need to worry blindly." Tulin glanced at his fellow soldier who wasn't Dusan, saying dispiritedly: "I heard from the Cherini Commissioner that Bard has arranged everything for you soldiers who were newly granted land."

Tulin looked again at his fellow Dusack, his lips twitching: "You don't need to worry either, nowadays, there's not much livestock left at Dusan homes. Extra horses and cattle have been requisitioned; how much grass can the remaining livestock consume? Besides, you're alive and back, aren't you? Being alive is the most important thing, how much can you eat anyway."

"How's your family? Sergeant." The non-Dusack Cavalry followed the topic and asked: "How many are left at home?"

The Cavalry of Dusack origin beside him wanted to stop it but was too late.

Tulin touched his upper and lower lips, answering with no trace of emotion: "No one is left."

The riverbank fell silent.

After a long while, the Cavalry who wasn't Dusan let out a painful sigh, murmuring in a low voice: "No more war."

Tulin looked at the warhorses on the riverbank without speaking.

Suddenly, the horses leisurely drinking water raised their heads in unison, looking upstream.

"Someone's coming." Tulin ordered: "Watch the horses."

The Cavalry who had come with Tulin immediately rode down the riverbank, gathering the scattered warhorses to prevent any trouble—horses are herd animals, and if one horse moves, the others will instinctively follow.

Only after all this was done did Tulin hear the sound of hooves coming from upstream.

Tulin wasn't worried that it was the enemy, as Artemis was surrounded by Iron Peak County Military's sentries and beacon towers, making it hard to sneak in unnoticed.

Sure enough, one of the riders far away waved at Tulin, and a voice floated over: "Tulin! Tulin!"

A faint smile finally appeared on Tulin's face, as he happily took off his cap to greet: "Vasya!"

Though they recognized each other, the cavalry coming from upstream didn't stop but rode straight past Tulin. The riders on horseback were all energetic and lively, each having at least one spare horse tied to their saddle.

As they passed in front of Tulin, the leading Cavalry nodded towards Tulin, and Tulin nodded back in return.

Only after the unfamiliar cavalry had completely passed did Tulin's comrades return to the riverbank.

"What splendid cavalry," one of Tulin's comrades couldn't help but ask: "Whose men are they?"

Tulin admired the leading Cavalry's handsome riding posture, quietly replying: "Pierre Gerardnovich Mitchell's men."

The questioner suddenly understood: "Wolf Cavalry?"

Tulin slowly nodded.

Just as the entire citizenry of Maplestone City knew overnight that "the Wolf Cavalry had arrived," the nickname "Wolf Cavalry" also spread within the Iron Peak County Military.

However, alongside the feat known as "three hundred defeating three thousand," the audacity and provocative nature of the "wolf pups" were also known.

"Everyone is talking." Tulin's companion cautiously said: "Pierre Mitchell might have a hard time this time."

Tulin watched Pierre's back with a worried expression, without responding.
