Staying Alive Cautiously in the Celestial Realm and Becoming the Strongest

Chapter 1225: Star Sea (30)

Joining the Exceptional Insight Club was straightforward. Tang Mo sent Wang Chen an invitation link through her personal terminal. Once Wang Chen clicked to verify, his personal data was automatically uploaded.

Within mere seconds, he became a member of the First Military Academy's "Home for Superpowers."

Of course, whether this "Home for Superpowers" truly lived up to its name remained for Wang Chen to figure out himself.

However, he could tell that Tang Mo held a significant position within the Exceptional Insight Club, as she approved his membership on the spot.

"Our club currently has 794 members,"

Tang Mo said. "You're number 795. And, by the way, I'm one of the Society's board members!"

Not even 800 people?

Wang Chen was a bit shocked—after all, the academy had a student body numbering in the hundreds of thousands.

The ratio seemed absurdly low!

"Surprised by how few people are in our club?"

Tang Mo clearly caught on to Wang Chen's thoughts and explained, "According to longstanding imperial research, naturally awakened superpower individuals only account for one in ten thousand of the total population."

"Superpowers unlocked through genetic enhancement are slightly more common, but still just two to three in a thousand. For the Exceptional Insight Club to have over 700 members is already quite impressive."

Some people don't even realize they've developed superpowers, and when they do, they're too afraid to reveal them, terrified they'll be snatched up by imperial agencies and dissected.

While such fear is completely unnecessary, cautious and timid individuals abound.

Moreover, many superpowered individuals belong to nobility, scholar families, or military bloodlines. Quite a few intentionally hide their abilities as a secret weapon.

These people certainly wouldn't willingly join the Exceptional Insight Club!

"Come on!"

Finally, Tang Mo said to Wang Chen, "Let me take you to our club headquarters to get familiar."

Wang Chen didn't object.

He had grown somewhat curious about the Exceptional Insight Club.

Thus, the two of them left the dormitory and took a floating vehicle to the club headquarters.

To Wang Chen's surprise, this small club had its own independent campus, covering tens of thousands of square meters. The complex included a superpower research center, laboratories, an indoor training hall, a fitness facility, an entertainment lounge, and more.

Wang Chen's eyes were truly opened.

The club even employed staff to manage its premises, featuring state-of-the-art technology and a comprehensive library—a knowledge database!

Tang Mo gave Wang Chen a tour around the community, eventually bringing him to the indoor training hall.

According to her, the training hall was where most club members gathered during their free time.

"Hey, Mo Mo!"

Just as they stepped into the colossal stadium-like indoor training hall, a smug-looking young man strode toward them.

As he greeted her, the muscular man clad solely in athletic shorts gave Wang Chen an unfriendly once-over. "Who's this?" he asked.

Wang Chen didn't answer.

Tang Mo chuckled and introduced, "This is Brother Hao. His ability is triggering sharp spikes all over his body."

Brother Hao, the shorts-clad man, shot Wang Chen a cold smirk. Suddenly, he flexed his arms, and his muscles quivered violently as a series of black spikes jutted out from his skin.

He instantly transformed into a human porcupine!

Wang Chen: "???"

Completely spiked over, Brother Hao assumed his superpower had intimidated Wang Chen, tilting his head arrogantly. "Well? What do you think?"

Wang Chen couldn't hold back and turned to Tang Mo, asking, "What use does that even have?"

Tang Mo hesitated before replying, "Brother Hao's spikes can be quite lethal—as long as he grabs hold of his enemy…"

Wang Chen was dumbfounded. "What if the enemy's wearing Combat Armor?"

Tang Mo pursed her lips into a smile. "Brother Hao's ability is still in its early stage. Once he upgrades, it'll definitely be more powerful."

So at this stage, he couldn't even scratch Combat Armor, and the spikes only worked if he could grapple the enemy—what's the point of that?

Still, Tang Mo didn't let this "Porcupine Brother" lose face, and introduced Wang Chen in turn, "This is our new member, Wang Chen. His ability is spiritual power."

"Spiritual power?"

Brother Hao scoffed derisively and strutted off without so much as a second glance.

"Sister Mo!"

At that moment, several teenagers, both male and female, gathered around.

"This is Alice. Her ability is water control. Over there is Zhang Zihao, his power is Chameleon, and this one…"

Tang Mo introduced the various members of the Exceptional Insight Club to Wang Chen, one by one.

More and more curious onlookers had gathered by now.

There were dozens of Exceptional Insight Club members on-site, their abilities ranging from controlling water, fire, sand, or soil, to communicating with animals or plants, to fortifying their bodies against any weapon, or even hypnotizing and charming others…

Though everyone's abilities were quirky, the atmosphere within the club was pretty welcoming. Except for a few like Brother Hao, most people seemed sincerely glad to have Wang Chen join.

This was only natural. The First Military Academy boasted a staggering number of clubs, all of which had to compete with one another.

The Exceptional Insight Club had very few members, yet it occupied an independent community and received funding from the academy—earning envy and backlash was unavoidable!

On top of that, most members' powers were weak, practically useless in battle. They were leagues below giants like the Combat Club, Swordsmanship Club, or Martial Arts Club in terms of overall capability.

To avoid being bullied, the Exceptional Insight Club members had grown accustomed to sticking together as a tightly-knit group.

That said, it wasn't an impenetrable unity.

These dynamics were all things Tang Mo explained to Wang Chen later.

With her help, Wang Chen's integration into the Exceptional Insight Club went quite smoothly.

Even so, he still managed to get on some people's nerves.

"Junior Wang Chen."

A young man wearing gold-rimmed glasses approached with a friendly smile, saying, "We're all curious about your ability. Could you give us a little demonstration?"

His suggestion was clearly in bad faith, but a few troublemakers and gossip-loving spectators immediately jumped in. "Yeah, yeah! Let's see what you can do!"

Tang Mo turned her gaze to Wang Chen, a trace of helplessness flickering in her eyes.

Wang Chen instantly got the message. Smiling, he said, "Sure, why not."

He looked around, then walked straight to a combat dummy modeled after a human figure.

The dummy, used for practicing superpowers, was scarred with burn marks and blows, visibly battered beyond repair.

Under everyone's watchful gaze, Wang Chen raised his right palm and struck downward at the dummy's neck.

Swoosh!

Before most could even register his movement, the dummy's head fell cleanly to the ground.

The cut at the neck was polished and smooth as a mirror!
