Starting with the Decade Driver, Messing with School Beauty

Chapter 12 - Our Family Is Just an Ordinary Family, and Our Company Is Just an Ordinary Company

“Your dad left it for you? Who is your dad?” Lin Qianqian asked, her curiosity getting the best of her.

To possess such a formidable Rider Drive, Lin Qianqian assumed that Qing Mu’s father must be an exceptional and influential individual.

“My dad’s name is Qin Yu, and he’s an employee at Eternal Technology Inc. However, he recently went missing along with my mom, and I have no idea where they are,” Qing Mu explained.

“What? Missing? How long have they been missing? Did you report it to the authorities?” Lin Qianqian inquired with concern.

“I did report it, but it seems like it didn’t do much good. It’s been a week now, and we have no leads. I don’t even know if they’re still alive. The only thing they left me with is this Decade Drive,” Qing Mu replied with a hint of frustration.

Upon hearing this, Lin Qianqian began to piece together any potentially useful information in her mind.

“I haven’t heard of your father’s name, but as for Eternal Technology Inc., I’ve heard of it. It’s a subsidiary of an overseas tech conglomerate, officially known as Infinite Eternal Technologies. They have branches worldwide, spanning across various sectors, and they hold considerable power. Even the top officials in our country regard them with caution. Do you know what position your father held there?”

Qing Mu was taken aback by Lin Qianqian’s revelation. “What? Eternal Technology Inc. is that powerful? But my dad always said it was just a regular small company, nothing special. He mentioned being a department head in some development department, but I never paid much attention to the details.”

Before, Qing Mu had never realized the uniqueness of this world and believed it to be ordinary. He considered his family to be typical middle-class, so he hadn’t taken a deep interest in his parents’ work. He only had a general understanding of their professions.

“A regular small company? You really dared to say that. The branch they’ve established here in Yancheng holds significant influence worldwide. They have over ten thousand employees alone. However, due to certain reasons, they’ve always kept a low profile and maintained strict confidentiality. So, few people are aware of their existence. If your father held a position in one of their development departments, that would certainly indicate a high status!”

“I see,” Qing Mu responded, his gaze growing contemplative.

Previously, he had not paid much attention to EternalTech Corporation. Now, with Lin Qianqian’s revelations, he suddenly felt that this corporation might have an integral connection to his parents’ disappearance. Perhaps investigating Eternal Technology Inc. could yield some answers.

Regardless, he was determined to find his parents.

Lin Qianqian noticed Qing Mu’s introspective look and refrained from saying more. Instead, she discreetly took out her phone and began to message Wan Sheng.

It was finally an opportunity for Lin Qianqian to confront Qing Mu after their previous altercation. She was determined to settle the score and wipe away the humiliation.

As the dishes arrived one by one, Qing Mu temporarily set aside his worries and began to enjoy this seemingly free lunch. Lin Qianqian pretended as if nothing was amiss and calmly savored the food.

It was difficult to imagine that just yesterday, they were engaged in a heated fight, and today they were sitting at the same table, sharing a meal. Fate indeed worked in mysterious ways.

As lunchtime approached, more people filled the area. Some were Yancheng University students, while others were outsiders who had come to try the university cafeteria’s food.

Just as Qing Mu and Lin Qianqian were about to finish their meal, a handsome and well-dressed man approached them. He greeted Lin Qianqian enthusiastically.

“Qianqian, what a coincidence! I never thought I’d run into you here. I’ve tried to make plans with you several times over the summer, but you always said you were busy. I haven’t seen you in the whole summer, and I’ve missed you so much. Now that we’ve met today, you won’t stand me up again, will you?”

Qing Mu glanced at the man, and while he wasn’t particularly brand-conscious, he could tell that the man’s attire likely cost more than his entire ten years’ worth of living expenses.

As soon as Lin Qianqian heard the man’s voice, her expression turned to one of disgust, surpassing even her dislike for Qing Mu.

“Changqing, I’ve told you before, I’m not interested in you. Why do you keep bothering me? You already have plenty of admirers around you; you don’t need me as well. I just want to enjoy my meal in peace. You’d better leave quickly and not ruin my appetite.”

“Qianqian, how can you misunderstand me like this? My feelings for you are as clear as day. I’ve loved you since the first day I saw you in school, and it’s been three years now. Do you know what I’ve been through in these three years? I…”

“Splutter!”

Changqing’s words were cut off before he could finish. Qing Mu couldn’t contain his laughter. The guy’s words were too slick, and it was impossible not to find them amusing. Using lines like that from years ago to woo someone now was a surprise, to say the least. Whether they worked or not was a different matter altogether.

Changqing, who was in the midst of pouring out his feelings, was interrupted by Qing Mu’s laughter, leaving him flustered and unsure of what to do. It was like having a piece of phlegm stuck in his throat—unpleasant and difficult to swallow.

Feeling embarrassed, Qing Mu took out a tissue to wipe his mouth and tried to suppress his laughter.

“I’m sorry! I couldn’t help it. Please continue. Pretend I’m not here.”

“Hey, who are you?” Changqing asked, eyeing Qing Mu suspiciously. Over the past three years, he had asked Lin Qianqian out countless times, but she had never agreed to have a meal with him.

The sudden appearance of Qing Mu, who seemed to have come out of nowhere, having hot pot with Lin Qianqian on the first day of school, triggered a sense of crisis in Changqing. He felt that Qing Mu might steal Lin Qianqian away from him.

Qing Mu put down the tissue and introduced himself.

“I’m Qing Mu, a freshman in the Finance Department.”

“A freshman? Did you know Qianqian before?”

“No, I didn’t. I only met her for the first time yesterday, and we had a little unpleasant encounter.”

“You met her just yesterday, and today you’re having a meal together? Are you planning to get in her bed tomorrow? Seriously!”

Changqing was also known for his straightforwardness, saying whatever came to mind without filtering. However, this comment infuriated Lin Qianqian. Could anyone say such vulgar things?

Lin Qianqian nearly wanted to grab the hot pot in front of her and pour the scalding oil on Changqing. Thankfully, her rationality stopped her from taking such a crazy action. Instead, she kicked Changqing with force.

“Thud!”

Her kick landed on Changqing’s waist, causing him to tumble over. Lin Qianqian had been using the Zero-One Driver in combat for a long time, which had enhanced her physical abilities and overall fitness. Combined with her regular training, she possessed exceptional martial skills. Anyone who hadn’t received training would find it difficult to block her attack.
