Starting Life as a Baron

Following the cheers of the townspeople, Alan smiled and sheathed his sword. Looking at the back of Alan as he left, Marco’s heart had mixed feelings. However, he was extremely happy. The stronger his master, the brighter his future would be. Marco could foresee that the Lord Baron would soon be able to go to the battlefield and make some achievements!

“Little rascals! Have you seen it! That is the heroic posture of adults! You are honored to be qualified to follow us and have the opportunity to fight by our side on the battlefield! This is the greatest glory! Maybe some of you can even gain merits and be enshrined as a knight! Grow your spirits and keep going. If you are lucky, maybe you can get the title of lord in your lifetime!”

Marco keenly noticed the enthusiasm in the eyes of the young men around him, and he immediately raised morale. This would help train them. Alan smiled slightly as he listened to the enthusiastic training noises behind him. Then, the System dinged in his mind.

“Congratulations, host. You have completed the task: Guardian of the Town! Only the strongest person in town is eligible for this achievement. You have gained three thousand experience points and a soldier training accelerator card!”

Alan was taken aback for a moment.

A soldier training accelerator card?!

A green card appeared in Alan’s inventory.

“The soldier training accelerator card will shorten the amount of training time from two months to one week after use. The maximum users at once are fifty.”

Alan immediately laughed. This was great. The System’s timing was impeccable! Originally, Alan was worried that the soldiers’ training speed was too slow, but it seems that the System was being thoughtful and sent him an accelerator card. It was a pity that there was only one.

Alan felt some regret, but knew that the card was pretty good. Without hesitation, Alan used the card on the fifty trainees. Suddenly, they instantly felt their bodies were full of infinite power. The seemingly difficult training now seemed extremely simple.

“Gosh, is this the magic from following the Lord?” One person asked.

Many of them noticed the changes in their bodies and attributed it to Alan. They thought that since they followed him, they were also being bestowed by the gods. They all reached the point of mindless loyalty to Alan. This kind of mindset was actually because of the System. If the accelerator card is used, the people would instantly become loyal to the master.

Alan was in a good mood. He had just become the strongest man in the territory. He naturally felt proud. After using the accelerator card and a week had past, Alan would have a group of qualified soldiers and five thousand experience points! Good things came in pairs.

Early the next morning, Sparrow came with a buyer for the magical wheat. It was a familiar face. Alan knew who the man in the carriage was after seeing the Thorn Lower family emblem.

“My dear brother. In less than three weeks, we meet again,” Alan smiled.

Who made Elon my biggest benefactor? Alan imagined that when he had more Nature Spirits and even a fairy, Elon would be one of his mobile gold vaults! Alan could not keep a straight face at this thought. Elon got off the carriage looking bewildered. He looked at the completely renewed Rose, and became more and more surprised.

“Yes, Alan. I did not expect you to discover another Nature Spirit. By the gods, is it possible you are favored by the God of War?”

Elon was unable to calm down. Finding a Nature Spirit of roses could be considered good luck, but after only two weeks more, a Wheat Nature Spirit? This was so dumb! Was it possible that this guy is the illegitimate child of the God of War?

With this thought, Elon felt some disrespect to his father and some jealousy toward Alan’s good luck. Two Nature Spirits. They are two Nature Spirits. This place with such high mountains and distant waters has this much prosperity? I knew I had to get father to bestow Rose to Alan!

Elon had an active mind, but showed a stiff smile to Alan. He looked at the lovely Nature Spirits on each side of Alan’s shoulders. They were so beautiful and moving. They really were fascinating, but they were not his!

Damn it. Elon suspected that Alan was showing off his two spirits. He must have known that even though Elon was the heir to the Earl, a VIscount with a rich territory and many people, he only had one Nature Spirit. This was the treasure that the Lord Earl bestowed on him. After all, the entire Bramble Flower family had no more than five Nature Spirits and one fairy.

This was already a very strong foundation as many down and out viscounts did not even have their own Nature Spirits. There were only a handful of barons who could possess a Nature Spirit! And Alan had two!
