Chapter 142: Give Me Another 20 Years, and I'll Surpass the Angels

"I've read through the divine tomes. The Saiyans were once glorious—ruling over three universes!"

"I'd love nothing more than to steal every Saiyan from his universe!"

Three black lines slid down Lin Qi's forehead. Should he be glad that he still had some use to others?

"Why are you deciding for me? I never said I wanted the Grand Priest's recognition!" Lin Qi shot a glance at the sighing Quitela.

Quitela looked at Lin Qi with deep frustration. "That's not the point. Your potential goes far beyond that of a God of Destruction… I don't want to see you stop here."

"It's too soon." Lin Qi gave a small shake of his head. At the very least, he needed to reach the level of Super Saiyan 7.

Otherwise, if he couldn't even defeat an angel, how could the Grand Priest possibly acknowledge him?

"Lord Quitela, you're rushing things..."

Lin Qi couldn't help but feel like this was a classic case of "the eunuch's more anxious than the emperor."

Cognac looked equally disapproving. "Just think about Lord Lin Qi's age—he's only in his twenties and already stronger than you."

"Being too flashy invites trouble. I think it's better to lie low and bide your time."

"You agree with him too?" Quitela looked at Lin Qi with a miserable expression. "Am I being too hasty? Do I really seem that impatient?"

"I don't think so. Lin Qi's been stuck here for 20 years—shouldn't he be out there carving a path of blood?"

"Punch Beerus, kick Belmod, take on Champa head-on…"

As Lin Qi listened, he silently pulled a lollipop from his pocket and popped it into Quitela's mouth. "I know you mean well."

"But… I have my own plans. Now isn't the time."

"At the very least, I need the power to defeat Cognac—or even Vados."

"Fine then," Quitela said, eyes narrowing as he enjoyed the sweetness of the candy. "I'll wait another 20 years for you."

"Whoa, whoa… Lord Quitela, you expect Lin Qi to surpass beings like us in just 20 years, when you've lived for billions and haven't reached that level?"

Cognac couldn't help but clutch his forehead. "This is giving me a headache. Are you underestimating the angels or overestimating the Saiyans...?"

"Trust Lin Qi. If he can reach my level in 20 years, surpassing angels shouldn't be that hard!"

At this point, Quitela's praise of Lin Qi had gone beyond blind faith—it was pure worship.

"In my eyes, no one compares to Lin Qi. Even your angels are only fit to polish his boots."

"…What the hell are you on about?" Cognac gave him a disdainful look, raising his scepter toward Quitela.

"As your mentor and supervisor, I've identified your ambitions! Prepare for disciplinary action!"

"Ahhh…"

A fake, over-the-top wail came from the very center of the energy beam released from Cognac's staff as it zapped Quitela.

"Tsk tsk… no wonder Quitela's been causing trouble everywhere lately," Lin Qi muttered, completely unbothered.

Normally, Cognac never resorted to violence—this was the first time Lin Qi had ever seen him lose his temper.

Even when angry, Cognac didn't mess with Gods of Destruction like Whis or Vados did. So… was this kind of thing inherited?

Did Cognac dote on Quitela? And did Quitela genuinely care about him?

"The Grand Priest's recognition… five Gods of Destruction and angels recommending me?" Lin Qi searched his memory but couldn't recall anything like that happening in Dragon Ball.

Which made sense, since angels and Gods of Destruction didn't really come up until Dragon Ball Super, which barely had over 100 episodes.

And even those were filled with fluff, especially the Universe 6 vs Universe 7 tournament and the Tournament of Power—barely anything was explained at all.

"Lin Qi…" The once-yellow mouse, now charred black from the lightning, coughed up black smoke and clutched his chest, weakly reaching toward Lin Qi.

Snapping out of his thoughts, Lin Qi looked to Cognac. "Next time, don't go that far. Just starve him for a few days or something…"

Champa types like him—when it comes to Dragon Ball, every last one of them is a total foodie.

"Water ball!" Cognac ignored the comment entirely and summoned a magical orb of water, dumping it over Quitela's head.

The yellow-furred mouse was back. Lin Qi sighed and pulled over a towel to wipe off Quitela's head.

"You're too impatient—I get it, it's a mouse thing. But still, try talking to us before pulling this kind of stunt."

Cognac nodded in agreement. "Don't think you're the only crafty rodent around. Honestly, your schemes are obvious to anyone paying attention."

"What did you just call me?" Quitela's eyes went wide with rage as he glared at Cognac. "Did you just call me a mouse?!"

"You two go ahead and argue. I'm heading to see Vados…" Lin Qi shrugged, standing up to leave.

Quitela quickly forgot about Cognac and turned a pitiful gaze toward Lin Qi. "You've changed. Now you're all about hanging around angels?"

"Don't give me that weird look!!" Three black lines slid down Lin Qi's forehead again as he shot Quitela a look of disdain.

"Yeah… blame my lack of strength. That's why an angel managed to lure you away…" Quitela muttered cryptically.

Lin Qi shivered. "Could you please talk like a normal person?!"

Quitela let out a deep sigh, placing a hand on his nose in mock self-consolation. "Forget it. You're just making the same mistake all strong men do…"

"…What?!" Lin Qi wasn't the only one baffled—Cognac also stared at Quitela in disbelief.

"As long as you're still my designated successor, I don't care how many girls you have on the side…" Quitela trailed off as he pulled out a book titled The Godly Dominant Destruction God's Handbook and flipped it open.

"Oh right, want some noodles? I'll make you some?"

"Idiot, what kind of garbage are you reading?!" Lin Qi stormed over and knocked Quitela on the head, ripping the book from his hands and tearing it to shreds.

"Ahh—my book!!" Quitela looked at the torn pages in anguish, glaring at Lin Qi with tear-filled eyes.

"Go, go, go—get lost! Seriously, this is your new hobby?!"

"This is my failure…" Cognac stared at the strange book on the ground and gave up on holding his forehead—he braced himself against a nearby rock instead.

"At this point, I just want to hold onto the wall…"

Lin Qi didn't bother with Quitela anymore and used Instant Transmission to quickly leave the God of Destruction's realm in Universe 4.

Quitela was getting harder and harder to tolerate. Maybe it was time to start cutting down his screen time.

Afterward, Lin Qi continued training with Vados, focusing on mastering the precision of his power. Apart from occasionally smacking the ever-sneaky Champa, Lin Qi's days were relatively relaxed.

He didn't concern himself with other matters and poured himself into his training. Though he didn't say it out loud, Quitela's impulsive move had planted a seed of pressure in his heart.

It might look like he was invincible on Earth, effortlessly crushing all challengers across the universe—but when it came to facing a God of Destruction, he still had a long road ahead.
