Chapter 163: Chapter 163: The Kingdom of Storm
Many kingdoms meet their downfall due to unchecked ambition. Feng Mo strode into the council chamber, nodding first to the representatives of the Huiyao Empire, then to the Tianqi Empire, before finally taking his seat among the Yunshan Empire delegates.
There was no need for him to speak—nor did he have the authority to do so. Only after founding his nation would he be eligible to run for council membership, granting him a voice here. Today, his purpose was merely to witness the results.
The presiding council speaker, noticing Feng Mo's presence, gave him a kind nod before addressing the assembly:
"Ladies and gentlemen, since there are no objections, let's proceed with the results. By a vote of the Federation Council, the proposal for Duke Feng Mo to establish the Kingdom of Storm is approved!"
Feng Mo relaxed his clenched fists, feeling a wave of relief and accomplishment. It was finally done. Gu Jun stood first, leading the applause. Many council members rose to join him, offering their congratulations to the youngest among them destined to be a king.
Yet, as Feng Mo scanned the room, he noticed that all of the representatives from the Snowhawk Empire remained seated, underscoring a silent opposition. He realized then that he had made considerable enemies without even knowing it.
He could understand why. The Snowhawk Empire's starship trade, from T1 to T3 vessels, had been nearly monopolized by the Fengyun Starship Trading Company. Other empires typically allowed local interests to share profits, but due to issues with the Bai family, Chu Yunjian had locked out all Snowhawk companies, leading to local resentment against Feng Mo.
Additionally, by securing the Storm and Hurricane Systems, Feng Mo disrupted Snowhawk's interest in U54321—a region nominally under Federation jurisdiction but entangled with Snowhawk's vested interests due to its proximity to their empire. Systems like the Inferno and Demon Systems had long been within their grasp, but Feng Mo's intervention felt like stealing food from a tiger's mouth.
Snowhawk couldn't find grounds to oppose him openly, and when Gu Jun's Yunshan Fleet stepped in to give them a warning, they had no choice but to watch as Feng Mo solidified his claim over the two systems.
Now, with Feng Mo moving to establish a kingdom, the Snowhawk Empire was far from happy. However, the vote had gone in his favor with support from the Yunshan, Huiyao, Tianqi, and Meteor Empires, while other nations saw no benefit in alienating a prominent young starship designer. Despite Snowhawk's sizable opposition, it was in vain, as Gu Jun had preemptively derailed any resistance from their council members.
Feng Mo remained calm. The kingdom was now a reality; no amount of opposition could change it. He had already chosen the name: the Kingdom of Storm. Only his fleet names needed updating to reflect the new status.
With the council speaker's announcement, it was official. Since the following discussions were not relevant to him, Feng Mo rose, gave a slight bow to the assembly, and exited the Federation Council building.
As he returned to the real world, he was met by Ai Er's hopeful gaze. Feng Mo nodded in confirmation, prompting Ai Er to squeal with delight before leaping into his arms.
Holding Ai Er, Feng Mo laughed heartily. This was one of the happiest moments of his life. Founding a kingdom might just be a title, but it carried a message to his people: they could now proudly claim to be from the Kingdom of Storm, and if they faced trouble, their lord would back them.
The celebrations at the base lasted three days. On the day of the announcement, Kylan arrived, and by the second day, Chu Yunjian joined the festivities.
On the fourth morning, Feng Mo awoke beside the three sleeping women, a blue holographic panel glowing in his vision.
[Name: Feng Mo]
[Level: Tier-3 Gene Warrior]
[Role: Ruler of the Kingdom of Storm]
[Special Talent: Heaven Splitter]
[Fleets: Storm Fleet (Commander: Ai Er), Explorer Fleet (Commander: Laila), Elf Fleet (Commander: Kylan), White Hole Guard Fleet (Commander: Silia), Beast Roar Fleet (Commander: Hua Qin)]
[Territories: Storm System, Hurricane System, Celestial Crystal System, Beast Roar System]
[Points: 6,660]
[Mission: Construct T5-class Stormwind Interstellar Battleship; Reward: Unlock Tier-6 privileges in the Spark Marketplace]
[Inventory: … T5 Control Chip Blueprint, T5 Orca-class Interstellar Carrier Blueprint, T5 Stormwind-class Interstellar Battleship Blueprint]
Feng Mo's heart leapt upon seeing the new mission. The reward wasn't points or blueprints but the unlocking of Tier-6 privileges in the Spark Marketplace.
Initially, Feng Mo had been frustrated that the marketplace capped at Tier-5 without any indication of when the next level might unlock. He hadn't anticipated it would come now, with such a straightforward mission.
It seemed that luck had been on his side all along. After all, it had brought him Ai Er, the other three women, the chance to cross worlds, and the Spark System itself.
While Feng Mo's thoughts wandered, the three women slowly stirred. A lively morning ensued, after which they helped him dress.
Later, Feng Mo made his way to the Hurricane Spaceport. This time, he boarded the Orca and declined their offer to accompany him, setting off alone for the Beast Roar System. Despite the strain of building two T5-class starships, he was determined to tackle this one more task to unlock Tier-6 access.
Upon arriving, Feng Mo's sudden return delighted Alisa, who thought he'd come bearing snacks. She was, however, mildly disappointed when she realized he intended to recruit her for yet another project.
Still, Feng Mo knew how to appeal to her. He brought a roomful of treats and casually mentioned he'd recently designed a new interstellar battleship, inviting her to check it out. Slowly, Alisa fell into his trap, only realizing her predicament over five months later.
The T5-class Stormwind Interstellar Battleship was unique, boasting a T5-class clustered planet-destroyer cannon with the ability to toggle between clustered and standard laser modes.
When Feng Mo finally completed the task and claimed his reward, he noticed that the Spark Marketplace's T5-class starship exchange rate had dropped from 20,000 points to 15,000. An automatic reduction—now that Feng Mo possessed the clustered cannon technology, the primary barrier to constructing T5 battleships had been removed.
Time passed quickly in the interstellar era. Research alone could take years, and constructing a quality starship—despite an array of talented engineers—had taken over five months.
