Chapter 773: Anyi and Anxin

Si Kongxue had given birth. She had been pregnant for twelve years, but at long last, she had delivered and had a pair of twin daughters.

By the time Li Xiaofei arrived, his father-in-law and mother-in-law were already each holding a baby in their arms, grinning like a pair of fools. Li Xiaofei immediately went to check on Si Kongxue. Giving birth was still an extremely arduous task for a cosmic lifeform.

This was especially true since these twin daughters were also cosmic beings. They had continuously absorbed the essence and energy of their mother's body over the twelve years of pregnancy. If not for the vast resources of the Fengyu Merchant Guild constantly providing Si Kongxue with all manner of rare and precious treasures to nourish her, she might have suffered a severe loss of vitality.

He opened the door to the room. Si Kongxue was standing by the full-length mirror beside the floor-to-ceiling window. She wore red high heels, a white knee-length, waist-hugging deep V-neck dress, and her short black hair had a touch of natural curl. She was admiring her reflection in the mirror.

When she heard the door open, she turned around with a smile and asked, "Am I beautiful?"

This woman, who had just become a mother for the first time, looked at him with a beaming smile. Li Xiaofei stepped forward and pulled her into his arms.

"Beautiful." He kissed her on the forehead and said, "You are the most beautiful woman in the world."

Si Kongxue kissed Li Xiaofei passionately and fiercely on the lips. This man before her was the one who had changed her destiny. It had started as a moment of reckless impulse, a fleeting encounter born of frustration, but he had come to occupy her heart and soul.

Love surged within her and she pushed Li Xiaofei toward the bed behind them.

Cosmic beings had exceptional regenerative abilities. Si Kongxue had quickly healed after giving birth and glowed with radiance. A divine maternal aura now naturally surrounded her, enhancing her beauty to an entirely new level.

At this point, even Lin Yi who was renowned as the most beautiful woman in Chongque City seemed to pale in comparison before Si Kongxue.

Time passed. Si Kongxue tilted her head back, her short hair falling loose. Her slender, swan-like neck arched instinctively as a soft, satisfied moan escaped her lips. Her eyes were hazy and her cheeks were flushed.

After gasping for breath for some time, she slowly regained clarity and rolled over to wrap her arms around Li Xiaofei. The two of them lay quietly in bed, embracing in silence. In that moment, silence spoke louder than words.

After a long while, they left the bedroom and entered the nursery. The two little angels lay quietly in the crib, their bright, black eyes staring curiously at Li Xiaofei. Perhaps it was the natural bond of blood. The moment the two little ones laid eyes on him, they suddenly broke into cheerful laughter, their tiny faces lighting up with smiles.

"Hey, little ones," said Li Xiaofei, he couldn't help but laugh as well.

Just a few days old, yet they were already this clever. As expected of his daughters. Both children were born as cosmic lifeforms. As soon as they were born, Si Xingyun had invited the best bone-reader in the city to examine their foundations.

Both were innately perfect cosmic level beings. Their life essence was extraordinarily strong. In terms of talent, they could only be described as supreme prodigies.

Li Xiaofei cradled his daughters in his arms, one on the left and one on the right, looking from one to the other, grinning from ear to ear.

As a father for the first time, he felt something entirely new stirring in his heart. In the past, Li Xiaofei had always thought of himself as a rather indifferent and detached person. He had never held many expectations when it came to having children.

But in this moment, an unstoppable thought emerged from deep within him. Even if his body were to be shattered into dust, he would protect these two little spirits with everything he had, for their entire lives.

"Let's give them names," Si Kongxue said with a soft smile from the side.

They hadn't named the children yet, as they waited for Li Xiaofei to return and decide.

Li Xiaofei thought for a moment and said, "Why don't we each name one?"

Si Kongxue was slightly stunned, then her smile bloomed. "Alright."

"Anyi."

"Anxin."

After a brief moment of thought, the two of them spoke almost in unison.

Somehow, the two names matched perfectly. The elder daughter was named Anyi, and the younger, Anxin. The two little ones began giggling happily at the same time. As expected of cosmic beings, their level of intelligence was clearly far beyond that of ordinary infants.

Over the next three days, Li Xiaofei did not take a single step outside. He stayed by the side of the two little angels, casting aside all trivial matters. He devoted himself entirely to his new role, forgetting all his worries.

The two little angels had already learned to walk on their own by the third day. Their development clearly far exceeded that of ordinary human infants and could not be measured by common standards.

By the fourth day, they were already babbling and climbing onto Li Xiaofei's shoulders, giggling as they played. Compared to Li Xiaofei's steadfast and boundless paternal love, Si Kongxue appeared far more relaxed.

She didn't spend much time with the babies. It seemed as if she was eager to release all the boredom and exhaustion that had built up over more than a decade of confinement during her pregnancy. Si Kongxue began going out shopping and dining with her close friends in Chongque City. She quickly returned to her former self, the proud, willful heiress of old.

Li Xiaofei didn't mind this at all. He was extremely attentive to Si Kongxue's emotional well-being. If a ten-month pregnancy was already unimaginably difficult for ordinary humans, then what about Si Kongxue's ten-year ordeal?

It was good for her to relax. Better that than risking postpartum depression. That would have been a real problem.

Finally, on the fifth day, the Military Guard Bureau began sending him messages. After learning that Li Xiaofei had returned to the city, Director Li Sheng of the Military Guard Bureau had sent people multiple times to report back.

Li Xiaofei brushed them off each time. First, he wanted to spend quality time with his daughters. He knew that he would be incredibly busy in the days ahead. Earth No. 1818 was now fully entering the era of cultivation and Immortal Force, a vast and complex systemic transformation. He feared he'd have little time to return home once it truly began.

Second, Li Xiaofei's strength had grown by leaps and bounds. He now stood at the very top of the second tier within Chongque City, aside from a few Black Hole level powerhouses. Most directors and officials were no longer on his level at all.

This rise in strength brought with it a newfound confidence. Li Xiaofei had come to realize that he needed to redefine his place in the world ever since Angrus's reminder.

He could now abandon that flamboyant, carefree persona that claimed he would marry a thousand wives and father ten thousand children. In fact, Li Xiaofei felt that it was finally time to return to his true identity.

"Greetings, Sir," said Li Xiaofei as he cupped his hands respectfully, maintaining a courteous demeanor.

Li Sheng nodded and said, "The evolution progress on Earth No. 1818 has been excellent. You've fulfilled your promise. The City Lord and the High Chancellors are very pleased and have decided to reward you handsomely. They intend to make you a model example of a Chief Evolution Officer and promote your achievements widely."

Li Xiaofei was somewhat surprised to hear that. He had deliberately controlled the evolution speed of humanity on Earth No. 1818 to be, at best, average. It was just barely meeting the required pace. Yet they were calling it flawless and holding him up as a model? Could this be the handiwork of his younger brother, Song Shiyan?

Li Sheng continued, "The City Lord has decided to appoint you as an Evolution Inspector and grant you the Golden Dragon Token. This token is as if the City Lord himself were present. You are authorized to inspect any base planets numbered between 90,000 and 10,000 at will. In addition, the Council has decided to promote you to a Mid-Tier Reliant... Congratulations, my friend. This time, you're truly soaring to the top."

Li Xiaofei grew even more astonished as he listened. Both the City Lord's Office and the Council were going all out. With these two decrees, he had essentially leapt from a minor official to a high-ranking provincial-level authority.

It was a ten-step promotion in one stroke. Yet, something didn't feel quite right. It was as if a trap had been laid out and was just waiting for him to step into it.
