Chapter 81: Chapter 81: Menos Grande Forest, The Espada Attack
"No way... it was killed with just one strike…"
"And what is that giant thing!? It feels even more terrifying than Yammy!"
Kadisheh and Bilstein stared at the green Susanoo, frozen in fear. Cold sweat dripped down their faces as they swallowed hard.
Only now did they realize just how badly they had underestimated this human who had dared to invade Hueco Mundo alone.
He had sliced Kadisheh, a Fracción of Nnoitra—the Fifth Espada—into pieces in just one blow, even when Kadisheh was in his Resurrección form.
It was terrifying.
He truly was a monster.
A human like this could easily be strong enough to take Lady Nel's place as the Third Espada.
Thinking of Nel, they both panicked and looked around, searching frantically for the green-haired girl.
They quickly spotted her.
Nel was lying comfortably on top of Nanaya's head, happily munching on candy while curiously staring at the towering Susanoo in the distance.
"Nel, what is that?" she asked with wide eyes.
Nanaya smiled and pinched her cheek gently. "That's the Pain Manufacturing Workshop. It turns bad guys into puppets."
"Puppets? So strong! Does that mean that guy will listen to Nanaya from now on?"
"Of course! He'll follow my orders like a loyal dog."
As they chatted, Desler appeared, his face expressionless and covered in black markings. His cold aura sent chills through the air.
"Come on. Show me your Resurrección," Nanaya said impatiently.
He was genuinely interested in how Menos-class Hollows transformed when releasing their blades—this could offer insight into the evolution of his Rinnegan powers.
Without a word, Desler drew his Zanpakutō and said darkly:
"Ambush... Fangkaishi!"
A surge of violent, sinister Reiatsu burst forth. It was far stronger than anything Desler had released before. His body morphed into the shape of a ferocious, wild boar-like Menos Grande.
In terms of spiritual pressure, he wasn't far behind Komamura Sajin.
"Not bad," Nanaya nodded in approval.
Desler, now powered by Nanaya's own spiritual energy, had been elevated to a level just shy of captain-class. With this, even the Path of the Beast under Nanaya's control could now challenge a captain-level Shinigami.
Kadisheh and Bilstein trembled with fear.
If the demon in front of them could turn the dead into puppets… what would stop him from targeting Lady Nel?
That thought made them want to grab Nel and flee as far away from Nanaya as possible.
Sensing their change in attitude, Nanaya smirked slightly and looked at the two Hollows.
"Come with me," he said. "I know a way to heal Nel. Do you really want to keep hiding with her forever, living in fear?"
Kadisheh and Bilstein's eyes widened in disbelief.
"Really!?"
"You can heal Lady Nel!?"
They had tried everything to help Nel. But her injuries were too severe—her mask had shattered, and her body couldn't return to its original form. None of their Hollow techniques had worked.
"Of course. I have a great healer on my side," Nanaya said with a confident smile.
He thought of Orihime Inoue and Captain Unohana.
Unohana Retsu, the Fourth Division captain, was a master of healing—her Zanpakutō itself had the power to repair even the most critical injuries, as long as the person wasn't already dead.
And Orihime's abilities were even more mysterious. With her Shun Shun Rikka, she could potentially reverse events entirely—bringing someone back even from the edge of death.
"We'll follow you, Master Nanaya!" Kadisheh and Bilstein said without hesitation, their faces lighting up with hope.
—A short time later—
In the vast, endless white desert of Hueco Mundo...
A green, flaming Susanoo towered above the sand, looking like a god of war. From within the crystal on its forehead, Nanaya stood holding Nel gently.
"Stay back. I don't want you to get hurt," he warned.
Kadisheh and Bilstein felt their scalps go numb. They turned and sprinted away without looking back, shouting as they ran:
"Master Nanaya, please—this is crazy! The Menos Forest is hundreds of meters below this desert!"
"We should just take the tunnel! Even if it's far, we'd get there in five or six days...!"
The two Hollows were beginning to doubt reality itself.
While they were still talking about how to reach the Menos Forest, Nanaya came up with a wild idea: Why not just dig straight down through the desert?
"How will we know if it'll work if we don't try?" Nanaya said, eyes gleaming with excitement.
He gripped his sword tightly and looked down at the sand with burning determination.
"I'm not wasting any more time here."
"Susanoo—Spiral Sword!"
The divine spiral sword, blazing with green energy, drove deep into the white desert.
This was the version of Susanoo from Uchiha Shisui—the Spiral Sword was even more destructive than most energy-based weapons in battle.
BOOM!
A thunderous explosion echoed across the desert.
Waves of sand, dozens of meters high, shot into the air and crashed down in every direction.
A massive crater opened at the center of the blast.
Even though Kadisheh and Bilstein had already run far, they were still caught in the storm of sand and thrown to the ground.
Boom! Boom! Boom!
As the green Susanoo continued its relentless assault, the entire white desert began to shake.
The pit beneath it grew deeper and deeper.
Eventually, the pit reached a critical point—cracking through a layer of space below.
With a loud rumble, the fully-formed green Susanoo dropped into the hole.
Kadisheh and Bilstein, who had been half-buried by the white sand, screamed as they were pulled into the depths, falling into the forest below.
"Is this… the Menos Grande Forest?"
Nanaya looked around in amazement.
The massive tree trunks that filled the forest had no leaves and were a dull grey color. Although they were called trees, they looked more like stone pillars carved into twisted shapes.
The ground was also hard and rocky—uneven and jagged, like the surface of a desolate mountain.
From the darkness, growls and distant howls echoed constantly. Even in the shadows, the towering silhouettes of Gillians could be faintly seen.
"Watch out," Kadisheh said nervously as he and Bilstein huddled behind Nanaya. "The Hollows here are all insane."
"They fight day and night, trying to devour each other's spiritual energy. That's why it's common to see Adjuchas-level Menos in this forest."
Bilstein added, "And who knows… There might even be a Vasto Lorde lurking somewhere in here."
"Ahhh! Here comes one now!! This one's spiritual pressure is really strong—it's about to evolve into an Adjuchas!"
Before he could finish, Kadisheh let out a scream.
He had spotted a huge, ferocious Menos Grande charging at them. In fear, he clung to Nanaya's leg like a frightened child.
"Get off me. You're disgusting," Nanaya snapped and kicked him away with a scowl.
He then turned to face the approaching beast, raising an eyebrow.
"This one's wild…"
Normally, Menos Grande close to the Adjuchas level are supposed to have at least some intelligence.
But this one looked completely unhinged.
Its white Hollow mask had sharp rhino-like horns, and its massive body radiated pure aggression.
Its glowing red eyes locked onto Nanaya with uncontrollable hunger, and it roared before charging straight at him.
"Judging by its strength, this thing's about equal to a fourth or fifth seat officer in the Gotei 13…"
Nanaya licked the corner of his mouth, amused.
He raised his right hand, and a wave of raw, repelling force exploded from his palm.
"Shinra Tensei."
Boom!
The charging Hollow was blown away and slammed into a stone wall with tremendous force, instantly killed.
Its body fell limp, and the spiritual energy inside it surged out.
Nanaya casually reached out and absorbed it using a Kidō technique, drawing it into himself like a starving beast.
"This place... is truly a land of opportunity."
He slowly lowered his hand and looked deeper into the forest, eyes burning with excitement.
Something deep inside told him this place was exactly what he needed.
His Rinnegan could definitely evolve here.
At the same time...
Back on the surface above the Menos Grande Forest.
"We've found it. This is kind of insane."
Five Espada stood at the edge of a massive crater—Nnoitra, Harribel, Ulquiorra, Grimmjow, and Yammy.
All of them wore serious expressions.
The pit before them was enormous. It had torn straight through the layers of Hueco Mundo, breaking into the forest beneath.
White sand still poured into the hole, flowing like a slow waterfall.
The massive Yammy stared down into the dark pit and muttered, "This just happened. Don't tell me... that monster Qiye really punched a hole all the way through the desert?"
The other Espada narrowed their eyes, staring at the edges of the crater.
Ulquiorra stepped forward and spoke in his usual calm, emotionless voice:
"Judging by the damage, it's clear. The invader—Qiye—forced his way into the Menos Grande Forest using sheer power."
"Who cares about that!?"
Nnoitra shouted angrily, unable to contain himself.
Without waiting for anyone else, he leapt into the pit, yelling as he dropped:
"I'm going to find that guy and slice him to pieces!"
