Spider-Man. The House Of Venom

Arc Fifteen. Chapter Four Hundred Thirty-Two. A Walk In The Park

Blonsky had been perfectly happy to be bored. He knew Ross didn't like him, which was fine, the feeling was mutual. He was just not Ross's kind of soldier. He had been a grunt, SAS, and finally a mercenary all in a long and very successful career. It meant he was used to doing things his way, and nobody complained when he got results. He wouldn't trust Ross or any other General with a set of toy soldiers, let alone his life. Not after Rio.

Ross had hired him to apprehend Bruce Banner, and Hulk had taken offence. A single backhand wrapped Blonsky around a steel support beam, breaking most of the bones in his body. Ross then offered him a Formula, the last of the military’s Erskine Formula. It wasn’t a hard choice. Spend the rest of his life eating soup through a straw, or go after Hulk again. And now he was stuck here.

So when he got the mission to find and contain Fury and his little band of mercenaries, he slumped and sighed. He went to his locker and slipped into his new stretchy uniform, which he also hated. Some civvy bint had complained that she could see his dangly bits, so the government gave them this stupid crap to wear. 'So as not to offend public decency."

As he dressed, the rest of his unit followed. All green recruits, and all with low levels of Gamma Formula. "Yeah yeah," he waved dismissively at the troopers who were busy trying to follow. "You lot, just stay 'ere. You'll just get killed or worse."

One snorted, "What's worse than getting killed?"

Blonksy stopped. "You'll get me killed," Abomination grew and pointed a thick meaty finger at the one who spoke. "Now sit down and shut the fuck up. I'm not babysitting your dumbarses." He bounded away before anyone could stop him.

It wasn't hard to find the Quinjet. Fury might be a superspy, but hiding a massive jet capable of international flight was not an easy task. It was in Central Park, as that was the only place big enough to hide it. Abomination shrunk back down and Blonksy stared at the well-hidden jet. He couldn't use his own radio without alerting anyone he was there, but Fury would have left alarms. He shrugged and tapped a few times on the cargo door keypad. It wouldn't matter if he didn't get in, even touching the keypad would alert someone there was an intruder.

It didn't take long for Fury and his team to arrive. Blonsky was different from the rest of the Gamma goons, as he called them. As Ross used Formula but no radiation to Enhance him, he was more like a budget Captain America. It was only after the accident he gained Hulk powers, turning him into Abomination. It was his dual Enhancement that Ross used to perfect his own. The arsehole, Blonksy added, as Ross made sure the tests were painful, even for him. It wasn't the time to reminisce though, he had company. He could hear there were three. One in the trees above, and two coming straight for him. He couldn't tell who was powered and who wasn't, but he could hear them.

"Emily Blonksy. I was wondering who they would send." In front of him, while he lazed against a tree, was Nick Fury and a young man he didn't recognise.

"Yeah, I figure they wanted you to off me, Ross's funny like that. So, I didn't interrupt a date did I? He's a little young, but cute enough."

"He's not my type, but Maria might not like you talking about him like that," Fury said nonchalantly. "But, why the invite and no backup? I would think you were getting sloppy, but I know you well enough to know you're never sloppy."

Blonsky stood and brushed needles from his pants, "Yeah. Even I know this is a shitshow of epic proportions. We went right past Charlie Foxtrot and straight into FUBAR in one set of orders. I want out, and you'll help me."

Fury snorted, and the young man stepped away. Blonsky knew he wasn't about to attack, he was tense, but not the right kind of tense. "And what do you bring to the table? I mean, Ross probably had you under surveillance, and tied up in so much red tape you think his middle name is bondage."

Blonksy laughed, "Nah, see, there is the small issue I'm not a Yank. Brit by blood, Ruskie by paper. He can try, but I could walk away and he couldn't say jack about it."

Fury raised an eyebrow, "So what do you need me for?"

"Yeah, me an' the Russians aren't exactly on speaking terms. Plus, they don't have Hulks. so guess where I'd be headed." Blonksy looked calm and relaxed, but Fury knew otherwise. The Russians would have him dissected and in specimen jars by the end of the day and even being a Hulk wouldn't save him. Word from Russia was they were heavy into MGH, and didn’t care about casualties to get what they wanted.

"And paint a target on my ass instead. You'd be too hot, and you know it." Blonsky shrugged but Fury looked at Scott who also shrugged. "I can get you out of the US and somewhere neutral, but they'd have their own deal."

"Yeah, as long as it wasn't a date with a bone saw, I wouldn't care." He smiled, "We need somewhere a bit more open though, gotta follow orders. Oh and what is the deal with specs here, I mean, You didn't make Hill jab an eye out did you?" Blonsky gestured to his eyes.

Scott snorted and pointed. As Blonksy turned a flash of red shot past him and there was a neat one-centimetre hole burned through a tree. "Call me specs again and it'll be you who gets the extra hole."

"Now that is cool, not so great for the tree mind you. Not an environmentalist then," Blonsky asked with a smile. "Out in the park should be fine, just get eyebeams here and Hill. Nobody would believe me if it's you."

"You know I retired right?" Fury said as they made their way to the tree line.

"Yeah, and the day that happens I'll be checking to make sure it's you. Just like if anyone says you're dead, I'll want a body and a gun to make sure." Blonksy stopped, "Right, here's fine. You might want to get that jet of yours moved as well. Pretty sure Ross knows where it is."

Fury snorted, "Yeah, of course he does. That's not mine." Blonksy looked at the quinjet and Fury banged on the back hatch. It fell off and inside was an empty shell. "We use it as a decoy, I'll get the real one and meet you in five." He touched his earpiece, "You and Cyclops will take this one, I'll be up in five."

Blonksy moved over next to Cyclops, who was wary of the man. "Yeah, it'll be fine, little light show, a bit of actin' and nobody will be any the wiser. Hill might get a bit banged up though, bein' a normal an’ all that."

Cyclops snorted, "You have no idea, and she can hear you." He touched his own earpiece. "I have mine set to speaker, so she can get intel when," he paused and laughed, "Yeah, she said to meet her at the treeline in five. She's bringing the party."

Blonksy smiled, "That's great. I love cake." He grew once more and Abomination grinned at him, "And pretty girls."

As he leapt away, he could hear Maria on his speaker swearing up a storm. Blonksy was on her shit list, for no other reason than he was an asshole. "It'll be fine," he reassured her. "I'm pretty sure he doesn't need both hands."

Cyclops headed from the treeline and into the park. If Blonsky wanted a show, they would give him one. He touched his earpiece, "Position set." It clicked twice, in affirmation.

He could see the pale green pus-coloured Hulk bounding through the park, right on time.

"Oi, Filthy mutant scum. You're under arrest," Abomination shouted. The gatherings of people had three reactions. Some ran, some stayed, and some took out phones.

If anyone could see, Cyclops rolled his eyes. Great, nice acting asshole. "Yeah, you and what army?"

Abominations flexed, "Me an' these two armies." Cyclops really wanted to facepalm right now. "Wot you got? A bus pass, a guide dog, or gonna hit me with a white cane?"

"I have a girlfriend."

Abomination stopped and frowned, "You what?"

Vengeance landed in front of him, shot off two webs, wrapping his arms together, and stood. "Steroids make you deaf?" she hissed and as the blades grew from her arms, Abomination stared at her in horror.

“Fuckin ‘ell. You’re one of them things ain'tcha?” He whispered in terror. As she took a more aggressive pose he shrank back down and raised his hands. He didn't need to act this time. The aliens Ross knew Parker had were terrifying. Ross had taken months to heal and still had problems. It was only the extra Gamma Formula that finally healed him, and nobody else was getting a second dose.

“I saw what happened to Ross and fuck that. I surrender.” He looked around and saw the gathering crowd eager to watch the battle. With a wink, he suddenly fell to the ground and grabbed at his leg. “Oww oww, me leg, oww me leg. You crippled me,” he yelled over dramatically. Cyclops and Vengeance just stared at him. “Yeah, I ain't burning for nobody. Now, beat it before they send anyone else. I’ll cover for you.”

Vengeance was sure nobody would believe him, but it was his show. Confused but unwilling to let the opportunity go, the pair made their escape.

“What was that about?” Cyclops asked her.

Vengeance could only shrug, “The depowering formula makes Hulks explode.”

"Wait really? Explode explode, not just die?" Cyclops knew the formula messed with the X-gene, and giving it to an Augment was dangerous. He had no idea the same happened to Hulks as well.

"Yup, Ross found that out the hard way. So yeah, don't piss Liv off."

Cyclops snorted. "She makes my visor, she's on my Christmas card list."

Vengeance laughed, "As long as that's all she's on, I don't care." She playfully nudged Scott who just smirked and shook his head. Even he knew about Liv and her appetite. As the quinjet hovered above the tree line, they jetted up into the cargo bay. Before they headed into the cockpit, Scott unclipped his visor and let his contacts power up. "Hey uh, what does Charlie Foxtrot and FUBAR mean? Blonsky used them, so I'm guessing it's military."

Vengeance paused and became Maria's usual uniform. Even though she wasn't in Shield, she still liked to dress the same way when on a mission. "It is and it isn't. Most units have a good behaviour clause, so no swearing. Charlie Foxtrot, cluster fuck, and FUBAR, fucked up beyond all recognition. So it went from bad to worse."

Scoot looked down, "Oh, so it's really bad then huh?"

Maria laughed and moved towards him, she slid her arms around him, "Scott, it's always bad. Sentinels, robots, Hydra, assholes." She lent in for a kiss, and he returned her enthusiasm. "It's just bad right now. We do what we can to stop it from getting really bad."

“We’ve got a pickup to make. Flash is joining us again, seems Ross got Cap and Danvers. We’re breaking them out.”

The Jet hovered for a few moments as Maria and Scott made their way to the cockpit. Before streaking off it hovered next to a building. The pair heard two soft thumps, and the top hatch opened as Huntress and Webb let themselves in.

Felicia let her armour peel back. “Nice. Four should be enough, what's the plan?” she asked.

Scott pointed at Flash. “His show, his plan.”

Flash paled as he realised that this was supposed to be his rescue mission. “Right, uh, yeah.” and Webb slid back as well. “So, they have Steve and Carol. Standard procedure is now to contain at Camp Gamma. From there they provide armed and armoured escort to the docks. Shield had a new hovercraft, and a new holding facility, on Alcatraz Island. It was completed a year ago and can hold up to five hundred inmates with enhanced abilities. Collars, power dampers and gene suppressors.” Nobody mentioned it was an ex-Hydra facility, and already prepped to hold prisoners.

“Are we sneaking in? Like the movie?” Scott asked but Flash shook his head.

“While it was cool, no. We hit them at Camp Gamma. The Gamma troopers are all out securing Augments so the base is almost empty. The only security detail left should be prisoner containment. With only guards, and no powered there, it should be a simple smash and grab.” Flash explained, “But. I need help. Will that work?” He questioned as he looked over at Maria and Fury.

Fury sighed but Maria blinked a few times while staring off into space. She frowned and then shrugged. “It's a good idea. The towers haven't been upgraded yet, so it's just normal machine guns. We have radio chatter that the big fish, Blonksy, Marvel, and Talbot are all in the field. Blonsky is a noncom, and so far only Marvel proved effective against you guys. It’ll probably go sideways once we start, but I don't see any issues.” Maria looked at Fury, who shrugged.

“The only real problem is your Avengers status,” she continued. “After this, I doubt you and Cap will be welcome. I doubt any of us won't have a huge bounty on our heads,” but as the team looked at each other nobody argued.

“Disguises then. I mean, we have three Symbiotes here, and as long as it's just us three.” Flash looked over at Scott, “four. I mean, nobody can tell who you are with that visor on. I have been doing the lessons Parker gave me so I can make Webb change colour now.”

“Right, so us four. Fury, your transport once more. Do we have a map of the area?” Maria asked. Fury nodded and began to call up different points on the cockpit’s navigational displays. “Good, so,” and the plan to rescue their friends was decided.

Camp Gamma was on alert, but the group had been right. With a major threat alert issued most of the Gamma Enhanced had been sent out. It was only those who were still adjusting or had still to receive their treatments that were left. It didn't make them any less dangerous. A newly Enhanced Hulk was still a threat.

It wasn’t as if Ross left the base unattended. Only soldiers of corporal and above were inducted, Ross didn't want rookies. He needed men who were loyal and committed to the army to serve under him. They were bound to the unit by red tape, but Ross wanted real loyalty.

It took a few weeks at least, switching between forms and living as a Hulk. A special section of the base had been built, with reinforced floors and roads. Special buildings that could withstand a newly born Hulk. Adapting to super strength took time, especially for soldiers. There were to be no accidents with any of the new Gamma Troopers.

It also held the newly christened 'Ice Box'. Where prisoners were put into deep sleep until they were transferred to the Freezer. Why drug or collar an Enhanced and risk their powers adapting? They had no idea if there were any Enhanced who could control technology. It was easier to just freeze and monitor. As long as they were kept alive, nobody cared about their civil rights. With ARCA in place, it wasn't even illegal anymore.
