Spider-Man Mayhem

Chapter 263: Chapter 263: Sparring Session (1)

[Third Person's PoV]

Peter and his friends gathered in their hideout after school, with the exception of MJ, who had to go to the Daily Bugle.

As Peter and Harry changed into more comfortable clothes, Peter asked, "Aria, have you adjusted the VR capsule for Ben?"

"I started working on it yesterday after they left," Aria replied. "I figured it might come in handy, so I had the spider-bots do some touch-ups. It should accommodate Ben's size just fine. Although, I'm also working on a newer and better capsule using the Vibranium we have in storage. I just need you to review the schematics."

"Alright, I'll check them later," Peter said as he and Harry exited the dressing room at the same time as Gwen, Lizzy, and Felicia.

"Hey, can I leave the Fantastic Four to you guys? Aria went to pick them up, so they should be here in a few minutes," Peter asked.

"Sure, don't worry, we've got it covered," Gwen waved him off.

"Thanks," Peter said, stretching his arms as he and Harry made their way to their personal training capsules.

Harry stood with his hands in his pockets, a grin on his face. He tapped the ground repeatedly with his foot, energy building up from the motion, crackling over his legs before spreading through his entire body. "Just say when~" he teased.

Peter stood with his fists clenched and slightly spread apart. A smirk formed on his face as lightning surged through his body, sparks igniting and flying off in every direction. His hair lifted into spikes from the energy coursing through him.

"When!" Peter shouted, vanishing in a blur.

He reappeared above Harry, his leg cocked back as he swung a powerful kick.

Harry quickly leaned back, narrowly avoiding the attack.

As Peter landed behind him, Harry flipped backward, planting his hands on the ground and launching himself toward Peter with a burst of green kinetic energy.

Peter effortlessly sidestepped, letting Harry pass by while attempting to counter with a quick kick to his stomach.

Harry caught Peter's foot midair and used the momentum to propel himself upward. Peter shot a web toward him, but Harry twisted midair, dodging it before landing gracefully.

"At least you know better than to try and grab it," Peter teased.

Harry blew his hair out of his face. "So, when are you going to take me seriously?"

"Relax~ we're just warming up," Peter replied playfully.

Harry ran a hand through his hair and resumed tapping his foot. "Fine, looks like I'll have to make you."

In an instant, he became a green streak of light, charging toward Peter with kinetic energy crackling around his fist.

Peter intercepted, redirecting the attack with his forearm. A shockwave blasted from the impact as Harry launched a flurry of rapid strikes.

Each blow rang out with a concussive force, Peter skillfully blocking and redirecting them with precise movements. His hazel eyes now glowed bright blue as he tracked Harry's movements, their repeated strikes echoing through the room.

Harry used the continuous exchange to build even more kinetic energy, the excess discharging in crackling waves across his skin.

Suddenly, Peter's palm flared with a bright blue light. He thrust his hand forward, releasing an explosive force that sent Harry flying. He tumbled across the ground in a blur before skidding to a stop, sticking himself to the floor to regain control.

Groaning, Harry pushed himself up, his injuries already healing. He stared at Peter in confusion. "What the hell was that?"

Peter glanced at his glowing palms. "I supercharged my Van-Der Force and switched the attraction to repulsion."

A smirk played on his lips.

"Wanna see something else?"

Before Harry could question it, Peter's hands twitched, and he thrust his palm forward again. This time, an invisible force shot out, something both of them could sense.

To Harry's astonishment, he was pulled forward, as if an unseen hand had grabbed him. However, he quickly dug his feet into the ground, resisting the force.

"I take it you reversed the flow?" Harry guessed, struggling against the pull. It felt almost like a magnet.

"Yup. And that also means I can increase the potency by simply adding more power—wait!" Peter suddenly stopped, a grin spreading across his face.

Harry sighed, already recognizing that look. "An idea just hit you, didn't it?"

"Yup! Now hold on, I need to test something," Peter said, closing his eyes. He knew that his ability to stick to surfaces wasn't limited to just his hands—it was his entire body. Instead of amplifying attraction and repulsion in one area, what if he made his whole body the focal point?

"Harry, I need you to do me a favor… and punch me!" Peter grinned, his entire body now glowing blue.

Harry eyed him warily. "I'm not sure I really want to at this point…" he muttered, seeing Peter's new form.

Still, for science, he complied. Energy crackled around him as he crouched and then blasted forward.

He appeared before Peter, fist cocked back, and launched an uppercut to Peter's torso. Just before impact, a brilliant light shone from Peter's body—and Harry was sent flying. He flipped wildly through the air before managing to land on one knee, panting.

"What the fuck, dude?! You have a whole Repulsion Shield now?!"

Peter let the glow fade, but he was visibly sweating and looked slightly drained. "Yeah… but there's a problem. It burns through a ton of my bio-electricity. Plus, I can't pick anything up while it's active."

"Boohoo, poor you," Harry teased.

"I'm just taking notes for later," Peter shot back. Then, suddenly, he crossed his middle finger over his index and held it close to his face. "Now then… Unlimited Void!"

"…"

Silence.

Harry tilted his head. "Was something supposed to happen?"

Peter coughed into his fist, looking flustered. "No. Don't worry about it. Let's just continue."

Harry gave him a long, weird look before shrugging it off. He was used to Peter's antics by now.

"So," Peter said, raising an eyebrow, "is there a technique you want to try on me?"

Harry shifted into a martial arts stance and shook his head. "Not really. Not at the moment. I'll warn you if anything comes to mind—" A grin crept onto his face.

Peter placed his hands on his hips. "Alright, lay it on me. What did you just think of?"

"At first, I was thinking about mixing Fa Jin with my powers instead of just my body. Like, I can already make myself stronger or faster, but what if I applied it to my chi?"

Peter's eyes widened slightly. "Damn… Adding explosive force to chi of all things… That'd be like adding gunpowder to a fire."

Harry rolled his shoulders and began tapping his foot, subtly charging his kinetic reserves. Then, his white chi flared up like a flame around him. He closed his eyes and focused, pulling on his stored kinetic energy. Slowly, the green energy from his Fa Jin started bleeding into his chi. The white glow shifted, turning green entirely, and soon, Harry was surrounded by a blazing green aura.

He bit his bottom lip, concentrating. The combination made his chi incredibly unstable. He held his wrist steady as energy gathered in his palm, forming a crackling, flaming orb.

Harry aimed it at Peter, struggling to keep it under control. "Pete… I'm gonna be honest. You might wanna dodge."

"Oh please—" Peter's words were cut short as the sound of a gunshot rang out, and the world seemed to freeze for a split second. His eyes locked onto the crackling orb streaking toward him like a comet.

He immediately dodged. No way was he taking that head-on. The orb whizzed past him, leaving a streak of green light before—

BOOOOOM!

A massive explosion erupted where it landed, sending a billowing shockwave into the air. Green light flashed as the blast rose higher than Peter's head.

Harry was on his knees, still gripping his wrist, while Peter stood off to the side, his hair whipping in the wind. Both of them had their mouths wide open, staring at the devastation in disbelief.

Peter slowly turned toward Harry.

"…Dude. All I did was push you with my powers. There was no need to try and kill me."

"I… I couldn't control the power distribution. I accidentally dumped all my energy into it…" Harry muttered weakly.

"…Dude."

"…Dude."

For context: Chi, despite its strength, has inherent limits. One of those limits is that it's nearly impossible to control once it leaves the body. Even more impossible? Throwing it over a distance before it dissipates. Chi isn't meant to exist outside of a person's body.

Peter had already surpassed those initial limits, making him a master in his own right.

But what Harry just did? That was even more impossible. By fusing Fa Jin with his chi, he had bypassed nearly all of chi's natural limitations—perhaps even more than Peter had.

Gwen had also managed something similar by mixing her chi with her cosmic powers, but even hers wasn't as powerful or destructive as what Harry had just pulled off.

And that was a terrifying thought.
