Sous

Sous awoke the next morning later than usual. She sat up in bed with the blankets falling off to the side and one of her pillows already on the floor. The drool dried on her mouth, she wiped away and looked at the basilisk egg that sat upon dresser over near the window.

She got up and walked to it, poking at the egg. She felt it stir and jumped back. It was almost time for it to hatch, probably in another two weeks or a month.

In the restroom, she looked at herself in the mirror. She was getting taller and her hair longer. She looked at her fangs then right behind them were her canines which were also growing. Then on her head, there were two protruding bumps that seemed to have sprung up over night. Which literally was the case since yesterday had been her birthday.

She poked at the bumps, knowing her antenna horns were coming in. Her night gown was thrown to the floor as she turned around to see if her wings were coming in. No, they weren't.

Sous turned her neck to the side to see how the seal was holding up. It was hard to describe the type of design it was. It was like a large black lighting bolt that was in a circular motion. She placed her hand on it, no longer feeling the burn.

Sous walked down the hall toward the kitchen, smelling the bacon and eggs being made. Shadow was sleeping on the couch with a blanket over him, his face flushed with an empty mug near by on the floor.

The three sisters were already up and at the kitchen table while the bandit cooked. He had a light smile on his face and wore a green apron.

"Morning, Sous," Glinda greeted her. "Go wake Shadow so he can eat breakfast." Shr nodded her head and stepped out into the living room. She hunched over and sprinted toward Shadow, jumping into the air screaming.

Shadow opened his eyes slowly then wide when he saw the demon girl aiming toward him screaming wildly. He held on tight to the covers. "AAAAHHHHHHHH!"

Shadow sat at the kitchen table with the women and girl with his ears dropped. A slight blush was still over his nose. He rubbed his temples, feeling a headache coming on. Sous' party got a bit heavy last night and he had found himself drinking a bit too much, more compared to the usual that is.

"Sous, we've been talking," Gortrius started. "Shadow is going to take you to campus."

"But what about the Valley of Trey and its so early? I still have two months until school starts." She complained, slamming herself back in the chair.

The adults exchanged looks with one another with Shadow speaking up next. "They told me what happened with the wolf." Shadow paused for a bit, playing with his toast. "That's serious, Sous. They hired someone to do their bidding." Sous looked at Shadow and saw his facial expression was worrisome along with the witches. Even the bandit seemed aghast by the situation.

Sous looked at her plate, majority of the food was gone. Glad they waited until after she ate breakfast to tell her the news.

"We want to keep you safe, Sous, so we're sending you to Hacate now," Gladian explained. "Mara is expecting you. You'll be assigned your house and room."

"But I'll be there by myself."

"No, other students will be there-"

"You'll be the only first year though," Shadow said interrupting Glinda.

She had really wanted to go to Trey, even Icuras was suppose to occupy them as well. The four adults continued to speak to her, telling her the school would be able to protect her and the other students, that the adults needed to try and speak to the council and to the lead arch, already written and sent reports. Sous nodded her head, listening to what they were doing- doing all of this just to protect her.

After dinner, she walked to her room and began to pack up. She didn't have any boxes so she placed everything in an organized manner by the door. Gladian came up and looked about the room.

"You're going to take the egg in your hands?" She asked.

Sous nodded her head, taking the jar within her hands. Gladian turned to the rest of Sous' stuff and pulled her wand out. With a flick, the items disappeared.

"They were transported to Mara's office."

"I thought his mom worked at the college."

"She does. She'll be meeting you at the school though to talk to you and make sure you settle in nicely...then you'll be on your own. But don't worry," Gladian quickly caught herself. "We're all just a letter or messenger away."

Sous thought for a moment with her thoughts going to her father.

"Monica was surprised to know my dad went to Hacate. They went to the same school but never met?"

Gladian shook her head. She walked over to the guest bed Sous stayed in and sat down. She leaned back on her palms, looking out the window.

"Puimo was quiet and didn't really have friends. He mostly kept to himself. I don't even think he knew Shadow." She bite her bottom lip. "Its weird, they're all from the same place. I think maybe its because Mara and Shadow were happy to leave Red Woods and start their lives here...Puimo only wanted to go back."

Sous sat down next to Gladian, getting the impression she had feelings for her father. "Why?"

"He thought speaking to the Alpha in line-"

"Doureena?"

Gladian nodded her head, "Doureena. He thought talking to her would help with having the pack accept him and others like him. But the encounter went to shit."

To think her father wanted to go back, wanted to be apart of a pack that didn't want him. Her thoughts then went to her mother- she was still missing and Sous didn't have the chance to speak to the medium. There was just so much going on but now it all seems to be slowing down, but Sous would trapped at school. She sighed and fell back on her bed.

"If it ain't one thing, its another," she mumbled.

Shadow appeared in the door way, tapping the side.

"Beeeee beeee beeee!" He sounded off like a siren. "You all packed?"

Gladian got off the bed and walked to Shadow. "I sent her things to Mara's office. When you see your mother, have her send us some cookies. She makes the best cookies!"

Shadow went to Sous and helped the twelve up as she groaned and moaned. She was so excited to be going to school and now she actually has to go to school!
