Chapter 140: The Lord of Baiyun City

Dugu Yan followed behind the two elders, her eyes wandering in curiosity. The palace's majestic yet refined design left her in awe.

As they continued deeper, they were eventually escorted onto a carriage. The wide roads allowed for smooth travel as they passed by countless palaces, finally stopping before a grand hall with a sign that read "Hall of Tranquility".

Stepping down from the carriage, one of the Soul Sages respectfully said, "Medicine King, please proceed. The City Lord is waiting inside."

Sun Zhongjing nodded slightly, leading the way inside. Dugu Bo and Dugu Yan followed closely behind, maintaining a deferential silence.

Upon entering the guest hall, the moment they stepped across the threshold, a calm and refined voice greeted them.

A white clad young man rose from his seat, smiling as he looked at Sun Zhongjing. His aura was elegant and noble, yet approachable. His presence was so naturally commanding yet graceful that Dugu Yan's heart pounded uncontrollably.

However, the others paid no attention to her reaction and continued their conversation.

"You brat, it's only been a few years, and you've grown this much?" Sun Zhongjing stroked his long beard, smiling as he examined Ye Cheng. "I remember you were just a Soul Saint back then how did you reach my level in a matter of years, something that took me over 150 years of hard cultivation?"

"Hahaha, I just had my own fortunate encounters." Ye Cheng chuckled but didn't elaborate.

Sun Zhongjing smiled knowingly, choosing not to press further. The two seemed to share an unspoken understanding.

Ye Cheng then invited them to sit, and soon, tea was served by the maids.

Sun Zhongjing took a sip before setting his cup down and saying, "I'll skip the pleasantries. I've come to join you."

"Join?"

Ye Cheng was taken aback before chuckling helplessly. "Surely you jest, Elder. With your strength, the world is yours to roam. It is Baiyun City's honor to have you here."

"There are plenty of unused estates within the city. If you don't mind, feel free to take any place you desire." His generosity was evident.

Dugu Bo, observing the conversation, thought to himself, The relationship between Sect Master and Baiyun City's Lord is far deeper than I imagined.
