Chapter 198: Chapter 200: Reaping from Di Tian
Chapter 200: Reaping from Di Tian
The colossal ice pillar pinned Di Tian to the ground like a nail driven through him. His fierce struggles only opened fresh wounds on his chest, but as his gleaming golden dragon blood spurted forth, it froze instantly into icy fragments.
"Stop struggling, Di Tian. Without divine power, once you're trapped by a control type divine technique like mine, death is your only option. You, of all beings, should know this best." Snow Empress spoke with an indifferent tone.
Each leap in a soul master's cultivation brings a significant qualitative shift, with a massive gap at every major tier. Crossing the threshold of level 100 elevates this divide even further. Killing a god without reaching level 100, without at least mimicking divine power, is virtually impossible in this primitive era. It's little wonder that in the original timeline, the likes of Sword Douluo and Bone Douluo met their end so tragically trying to stall a god with a mortal body would surely end in death.
Di Tian eventually ceased his futile efforts. "A dragon stranded in shallow waters is mocked by shrimp; a tiger fallen to the plains is harried by dogs." Such was Di Tian's current predicament.
But he soon sensed something off in Snow Empress's movements.
"Why did you call me a fool, Snow Empress?" Di Tian asked, bewildered. As the Dragon God's former chief protector, he considered himself sharp witted.
Snow Empress replied calmly, "Tell me, Di Tian, do you think Douluo Star is large?"
"Of course..." Di Tian began, then hesitated, realizing something.
Snow Empress continued, "Indeed, even with your perspective, Douluo Star is but a speck in the cosmos. If the Divine Realm had truly wanted to hunt you down, don't you think they would have turned this place inside out by now? To them, eradicating this world would be as simple as a flick of their fingers. So, tell me, what exactly are you so afraid of?"
Di Tian fell silent. As a former God King, he had possessed the power to destroy Douluo Star by himself. If that was within his reach, what was the Divine Realm waiting for?
"Do you know what's happening in the Divine Realm?" Di Tian finally asked, his voice strained.
Snow Empress looked at him briefly before replying, "I do. But what are you willing to exchange for this knowledge?"
Di Tian's expression shifted as he weighed his options. He had witnessed countless treasures over his lifetime, but he had little of worth left after fleeing to Douluo Star. Besides, Snow Empress had now ascended to godhood common relics would hold no appeal for her.
"What do you want?" Di Tian asked.
Snow Empress, following Ye Wen's plan to the letter, responded calmly, "All of your cultivation methods, including your dual soul cores and any insights you retained from your time as a God King."
Di Tian sneered. "How greedy. You'd trade a mere bit of Divine Realm information for my most precious secrets?"
Ignoring his mocking tone, Snow Empress spoke three words, "Golden Dragon King."
Di Tian froze.
"I said, Golden Dragon King. I know of his whereabouts. Combine that with current news about the Divine Realm, and I think it's a fair trade, don't you?"
The mere mention of the Golden Dragon King hit Di Tian like a sledgehammer to his heart. For him, even the survival of the dragon clan and his own life paled in comparison to the potential resurrection of the Dragon God through the re fusion of the Golden and Silver Dragon Kings. After a long pause, Di Tian asked cautiously,
"The god you serve... Is he one of the new gods, or a rogue from the Divine Realm?"
Snow Empress, though usually icy, now appeared slightly exasperated. She glanced at Di Tian with faint irritation. "A new god."
"A new god who hasn't even reached the Divine Realm what guarantees do you have for the authenticity of this information?"
Snow Empress's voice turned even colder. "I have none. But my god is this world's chosen savior. Believe it or not, this is my final offer; otherwise, I'm leaving." She made a slight gesture as if to leave.
In truth, Snow Empress had been reluctant to accept this mission, largely due to her distaste for dealing with Di Tian. These remnants of a bygone era still considered themselves the rulers of Douluo Star, commanding and controlling the entire beast race with a presumed mandate from the Dragon God.
What's more, Ye Wen had wisely withheld the knowledge that the restriction against soul beast ascension had been created by the Dragon God himself. Had Snow Empress known, she might have executed Di Tian on the spot. Such callous manipulation, holding the entire beast race hostage, was truly despicable.
After a long silence, Di Tian finally relented. "Agreed."
Snow Empress proceeded to relay information from Ye Wen about the current situation in the Divine Realm, as well as the status of the Golden Dragon King. Di Tian listened intently, digesting each word. When she finished, she turned to him expectantly.
Despite his pride, Di Tian was a dragon of honor. He had no inclination toward deceit and, true to his word, formed a crystal with his spiritual power, containing all his accumulated insights into cultivation, including the method of creating dual soul cores and his experiences as a former God King.
With the objective complete, Snow Empress relaxed slightly. This had been her first time executing a mission according to another's plan, and she felt some tension lift from her shoulders as she prepared to leave.
But Di Tian called her back, his expression unusually grave. "Will your god become our enemy?"
Snow Empress paused, silent for a moment. Ye Wen had given her no guidance on this. Finally, she replied, "I cannot say. That depends entirely on his will. But based on my understanding of my god, he views all life on Douluo Star equally. As long as you don't cross him, I see no reason we cannot live in peace."
Hearing this, Di Tian sighed in relief. Though he now understood that the Divine Realm had no immediate plans to hunt them down, the strength of his side still felt far too inadequate. If he could not even contend with one of this god's emissaries, then any threat posed by Ye Wen would spell disaster for them.
"We intend to maintain peace. We have no interest in instigating a new Divine War."
"I hope that's true. But let me offer you some advice. Should your Silver Dragon King ever make a move, the Divine Realm won't turn a blind eye particularly since your enemy, the God of Asura, is still very much in power. Take care, Di Tian." With that, Snow Empress turned and left.
Di Tian remained there, his golden eyes fixed on the spot where she had disappeared, feeling an unsettling weight in his chest.
"Too many things are happening at once," he murmured. "I'll report back to our leader. This is far beyond what I alone can decide."
Meanwhile, elsewhere in the Star Dou Forest, Ye Tianxin and her soul hunting team finally stumbled upon their intended target. Ye Tianxin's eyes glimmered with excitement as she gazed at the menacing spider soul beast before her.
"A Face Covering Demon Spider with 2,000 years of cultivation... exactly what I was looking for."
