Chapter 172: The Rabbit Mother and Daughter (Part 1)

Yu Xiaogang found himself caught between wanting to write a letter to his family, alerting them to this unexpected turn, and fearing he might be discovered by Tang Hao. His mind churned with a thousand curses for Tang Hao, yet he remained helpless. After all, in this altered world of Douluo, where Ye Wen's intervention had twisted the fate of the Clear Sky Sect, the sect's reputation was worse than ever. Any faction even rumored to have ties to the Clear Sky Sect faced relentless suppression from Spirit Hall. The only ones willing to offer any secret support were the two empires.

Meanwhile, Tang Yuehua continued her difficult work at the Heaven Dou Empire, teaching aristocratic etiquette. It was, perhaps, a sad turn for a Title Douluo's daughter, but even Title Douluo level clans still needed a way to earn a living. The sect's remaining men had no choice but to rely on Tang Yuehua's income to support themselves.

With time, however, Ye Wen noticed that despite their supposed isolation, the Clear Sky Sect had somehow managed to add three new junior Title Douluo to their ranks, nearly reaching the eight Titled Douluo count of the original storyline. So, it's the meddling of the God of Shura, Ye Wen mused. There was no way so many highly talented seniors with spirit power exceeding rank eighty had emerged without external assistance.

Hidden nearby, Tang Hao watched with satisfaction as Tang San moved into the common dormitory and immediately asserted his authority over the other soul masters. "As expected of my son," he muttered approvingly. Suddenly, Tang Hao's brow furrowed as he sensed a faint but distinctly non human spirit energy approaching from a distance.

His heart leaped; he knew that spirit well. A spirit beast, and a strong one at that. Excitement flashed in his eyes as he leaped toward the source of the energy. "Haha, heaven is on my side! My son truly is blessed. Spirit Hall, your end is near!"

Outside of Notting Academy, Ye Wen, concealed in the shadows, observed a young girl with long braids and a bright smile approaching the academy. So this is Xiao Wu, Ye Wen thought, watching her. Even as a child, she was lovely; her future beauty was obvious, though he personally preferred gentler features like Ah Yin's. But he sensed something unusual: a powerful aura nearby. His gaze shifted, and he noticed a breathtaking figure standing not far away a woman with long, fluffy pink hair and a graceful poise. Her white dress fluttered slightly in the breeze.

Is that... Ah Rou? She had the beauty and elegance of a noblewoman, refined and captivating. Ye Wen recognized her immediately. Her technique was flawless; she cloaked herself so that those around her unconsciously ignored her presence.

No wonder she was able to transform into a human with only 200,000 years of cultivation. Such precise control of spiritual energy is rare. It also explained how, in the Star Dou Forest, even a lower ranked herbivore spirit beast like her could achieve such immense strength.

Ye Wen pondered what could have drawn Ah Rou here. According to the original side stories, Ah Rou had ventured deep into the Lake of Life searching for her husband and had been nearly killed, only to meet Bibi Dong and eventually sacrifice herself to protect her daughter. Xiao Wu had misunderstood Bibi Dong as her mother's killer, igniting a desire for revenge.

But Ye Wen dismissed the plot as unlikely. A 100,000 year soul beast against someone with the Pope's strength? And Xiao Wu never showed any resolve to seek revenge. She simply wandered aimlessly among humans.

Setting his musings aside, Ye Wen noticed Ah Rou's expression shift. Her gaze had locked onto Notting Academy specifically, the place where Tang Hao was concealed. It seemed she, too, had sensed him. Within a split second, Ah Rou moved, launching herself toward Tang Hao with a swift, deadly kick.

Tang Hao, caught off guard by the sudden attack, staggered. Before he could summon his martial spirit, he found himself locked in close combat with Ah Rou, the two battling purely with physical strength. As her gaze briefly flickered toward Xiao Wu, Ah Rou transmitted a message through her spirit power: Run! There's a Titled Douluo here. I'll hold him off!

She then redoubled her efforts, attempting to draw Tang Hao away from her daughter. The fight had begun and ended in mere moments; the residents of Notting City merely felt a brief gust of wind, and, seeing nothing amiss, went about their day.

Xiao Wu's initial excitement was replaced by terror. She wanted to flee, her face ashen, when Ye Wen's shadow emerged before her. Distracted, she stumbled, colliding with the figure. "Ouch! Who's in my way?" she cried, rubbing her sore nose as she looked up.

Ye Wen gave a soft smile, one that did little to ease her nerves. "Hello there, Miss 100,000 Year Soft Boned Rabbit," he said pleasantly, his tone as cold as ice to Xiao Wu's ears. Though he looked calm, Xiao Wu felt a wave of dread.

Ye Wen felt no guilt for his intimidating behavior; the Xiao Wu he knew from the original story was often insufferably haughty, thanks to Tang San's spoiling. He gave her a calm, measured look.
