Soul Land: Full Body Martial Soul

Chapter 30: 30: Battle against Hu Yanmeng

After completing his first spirit battle, Yang Xiong returned to his hotel alone to carefully review the specifics of the combat encounter, since one-on-one matches were limited to one participation per day.

Yang Xiong had felt genuinely nervous at the beginning of this spirit battle, but all those years of intensive training hadn't been for nothing, and neither had the countless valuable resources invested in his development.

Even though he hadn't needed to use any spirit skills during the fight, he should definitely rank among the strongest Spirit Grand Masters in terms of pure strength, speed, and agility.

He simply didn't know how his abilities compared to those Spirit Masters who possessed truly top-grade martial souls.

The opportunity to encounter a top-tier martial soul in the Spirit Fighting Arena wasn't particularly common, since the genuine core disciples of major sects rarely ventured outside their protected environments.

The next day, Yang Xiong spent time meditating alone in his hotel suite, and in the evening, he returned to compete in the Spirit Fighting Arena once again.

When Yang Xiong entered his second competition, his new opponent appeared even more imposing than yesterday's fighter, standing at what seemed to be over two meters and twenty centimeters in height.

He resembled a giant of a man, weighing at least four hundred pounds, with his massive upper body mostly bare except for long pants. His appearance was extremely robust and intimidating.

Compared to Yang Xiong's height of one meter seventy, the size difference made him appear relatively small.

Yang Xiong couldn't help but mutter under his breath, "Are there many exhibitionists on the Douluo Continent? Do they all dislike wearing proper combat suits just to show off their muscles?"

However, Yang Xiong felt genuine surprise when the arena host announced his opponent's martial soul. This person possessed spirit power at level twenty-eight and wielded the Diamond Mammoth martial soul.

Yang Xiong was taken aback by this revelation, since the Diamond Mammoth was the inherited martial soul of the Elephant Armor Sect, one of the prestigious Lower Four Sects. It was renowned as the strongest defensive martial soul in the entire world, definitely much more formidable than yesterday's opponent.

Unexpectedly, this person didn't use a fighting nickname on the arena stage but directly competed under his real name, Hu Yanmeng. The twenty-eighth level Hu Yanmeng had achieved an impressive record of nine wins and only one loss, which was quite remarkable for his level.

After stepping onto the fighting stage, Hu Yanmeng looked at Yang Xiong's smaller figure and zero-win record, a contemptuous sneer spreading across his face. "Little kid, you should go back home quickly. This kind of brutal arena combat isn't something a mere child like you can participate in safely."

Yang Xiong smiled slightly with calm confidence. "Aren't you just a little older than me? I want to see exactly what kind of strength you actually possess."

Hu Yanmeng's expression darkened with obvious irritation. "Since you, this arrogant little kid, enjoy talking so boldly, I will crush every bone in your body and let you learn the true cruelty of spirit battles."

Yang Xiong smiled without offering any verbal response, not wanting to waste energy on this type of boastful opponent. The people of the Elephant Armor Sect seemed to possess this consistently arrogant disposition.

However, when the match truly began, Yang Xiong quickly realized that this opponent wasn't just tough with his words but also genuinely tough in terms of physical capability.

During the spirit battle preparation period, both combatants summoned their martial souls and displayed their spirit rings.

Hu Yanmeng also possessed two yellow spirit rings, but after the massive Diamond Mammoth spirit possessed his body, his entire physical form seemed to become even more powerful and imposing. He definitely appeared more formidable in terms of raw presence than yesterday's Wild Bull contestant.

After the host announced the official start of the match, Hu Yanmeng charged toward Yang Xiong like an unstoppable force and threw a direct punch, appearing extremely simple yet brutally effective.

Yang Xiong also threw his own punch to meet the incoming attack, but after their two fists collided with tremendous force, both fighters simultaneously took a step backward.

Even Yang Xiong felt surprised by this outcome, knowing that he had used approximately sixty percent of his full strength in that punch, yet the two combatants could only manage a complete draw.

Most notably, Hu Yanmeng's fist felt extremely hard upon impact. Yang Xiong felt as though he had punched a solid granite boulder.

Hu Yanmeng also expressed mild surprise. "Kid, you're quite strong for your size. Let me see whether your fists can actually break through my legendary defense."

Hu Yanmeng proved extremely fast despite his massive frame. His body demonstrated surprising agility under that huge build, and his punches and kicks contained devastating power.

Yang Xiong wasn't willing to show any weakness, attempting to suppress Hu Yanmeng through superior strength and speed. He successfully landed several solid punches on his opponent, even delivering a heavy kick to Hu Yanmeng's left shoulder.

However, Hu Yanmeng didn't seem affected by these attacks whatsoever. His entire body remained as hard as reinforced iron, and even Yang Xiong's continuous assault was easily absorbed by his incredible defensive capabilities.

After fighting intensely for a full three minutes, Hu Yanmeng released a burst of wild, mocking laughter. "Kid, your strength isn't bad for someone your age, but unfortunately, you simply cannot break through my defense."

"If you only possess this much power, there's absolutely no way you can defeat me."

Hu Yanmeng's second spirit ring flashed with brilliant light, and his already robust body swelled even further, obviously becoming much stronger than before. This was his second spirit skill: Mammoth Strength.

Yang Xiong continued resisting with only sixty percent of his maximum strength, but with just one powerful blow, he felt an enormous force impact his body. He actually retreated two full meters while Hu Yanmeng remained completely motionless.

At this moment, Yang Xiong couldn't help but smile with genuine excitement. "This is much more interesting! Otherwise, this spirit battle would be completely meaningless."

When Hu Yanmeng attacked once again, Yang Xiong's movement speed became significantly faster than before, and a precise hand blade technique blocked Hu Yanmeng's incoming assault.

His hands suddenly transformed at this crucial moment, his five fingers becoming like sharp claws as he quickly grabbed toward Hu Yanmeng's exposed arm.

Hu Yanmeng's defense was indeed remarkably strong. Even though Yang Xiong had only used sixty percent of his strength, this level of power was already sufficient to completely defeat yesterday's opponent.

Only five faint bloodstains appeared on Hu Yanmeng's thick arm.

Before Hu Yanmeng could properly react to this development, Yang Xiong swept his right leg in a devastating arc, directly targeting Hu Yanmeng's left leg joint with precision.

Hu Yanmeng's entire body experienced sharp pain, and his previously stable figure became noticeably unsteady at this critical moment.

Yang Xiong seized this perfect opportunity, his hands forming claw-like shapes as he grabbed Hu Yanmeng's shoulder. Simultaneously, he struck with a powerful elbow attack, hitting Hu Yanmeng's head with tremendous force.

Finally, he kicked upward with his right foot, directly sending Hu Yanmeng flying seven or eight meters through the air.

Hu Yanmeng had been attacked by Yang Xiong in rapid succession, and his entire appearance looked to be in very poor condition.

Five distinct blood holes had appeared on his shoulder, and the corner of his eye was directly struck, causing blood to flow.

It seemed that even members of the legendary Elephant Armor Sect had relatively vulnerable points around their heads.

Yang Xiong didn't take advantage of his momentum to pursue a finishing attack. He only wanted to improve himself through challenging battles, and victory or defeat wasn't the most crucial consideration.

Hu Yanmeng's body proved exceptionally resilient, and he quickly recovered from the ground, wiping away a trace of blood flowing from the corner of his mouth.

"Impressive, kid. I've been injured for the first time in so many spirit battles."

"It seems that I'll have to demonstrate some of my real strength now."

Yang Xiong flexed his hands and feet with anticipation. "I hope your actual strength proves a little more substantial than your big mouth, otherwise you definitely won't be able to defeat me."

Hu Yanmeng's first spirit ring flashed with intense light, and his already robust body seemed to be covered with a layer of khaki-colored energy, resembling a protective shield. This was his first spirit skill: Mammoth Defense.

Yang Xiong felt somewhat surprised by this development. "It's not a purely defensive skill, but rather a body defense amplification-type spirit skill. That's relatively rare."

"However, I'm curious about something. With your impressive strength and physical conditioning, especially your strong defense combined with two rare amplification-type spirit skills, you shouldn't have any real opponents among Spirit Grand Masters."

"How exactly did you manage to lose that one match on your record?"
