Solomon in Marvel

Chapter 468: Chapter 468: Noble Schemes

While ordinary American students were happily enjoying their 3 PM dismissal, Stephanie had spent her youth struggling in the grueling depths of elite education.

As the heiress of the Malick family, she naturally received the best education available.

But unlike the children of nouveau riche families, Stephanie was far more reserved and pragmatic. She rarely drew attention to herself in school. Even after being admitted to the Ivy League, she never acted as though she were superior—unlike those wealthy brats who treated their classmates like servants.

Because she knew—none of that mattered.

Stephanie had once shown Solomon photos from her university days.

The bespectacled, thick-banged blonde girl in those pictures was completely different from the powerful woman in a business suit standing before him now.

But all that effort had paid off.

Now, she held an indispensable position at Solomon's side.

---

Stephanie was the best accountant in the Eternal City.

She handled complex financial calculations entirely on her own.

She meticulously categorized every document, ensuring that they reached Solomon at precisely the right time.

Once Solomon approved them, she efficiently relayed his decisions back.

In many ways, Stephanie had single-handedly streamlined the chaotic, fast-growing bureaucracy of the Eternal City—allowing Solomon's political and administrative strategies to take shape.

She was the key to maintaining balance between Wakanda and AI governance, enabling Solomon to free up his time for other pursuits.

As the city's military infrastructure expanded and plans for increased production capacity moved forward, Stephanie would inevitably gain military authority as well.

She didn't know this yet.

But Solomon had hinted at it during a conversation with her father.

Gideon Malick, overjoyed, had already begun preparing a force for her command.

He intended to select Hydra's most elite operatives to integrate into the Eternal City's military.

Of course, the old snake had also tried to slip in his own spies.

For someone like Gideon Malick, manipulating situations was practically an instinct.

And he certainly did not trust his daughter to remain so close to Solomon without oversight.

---

This behavior was exactly like how medieval nobles handled political marriages.

The Malick family had preserved these traditions well.

Even though the circumstances had changed, Gideon Malick followed the old ways.

---

Marriage between nobles was complicated.

For example—if a noble family had one son and one daughter:

- Once the son was confirmed as the heir (or confirmed as biologically legitimate),

- The daughter could be married off.

But—when the daughter moved into her husband's castle—she was not alone.

She always brought her most loyal knights with her.

These armed guards took orders from her alone—her husband had no authority over them.

Their purpose?

To protect her.

- From mistreatment by her husband's family,

- From her husband refusing to consummate the marriage,

- And—most importantly—from her husband deliberately preventing an heir from being born.

---

But that wasn't all.

These knights had another vital role:

To prevent a scenario where—should her brother (the true heir) suddenly die—her husband would "tragically lose his beloved wife" soon after.

Why?

Because if both siblings died, their land and titles would fall into the hands of the husband's family.

In many cases, the brother's death was not an accident.

And so—protecting the sole heir became a matter of survival.

---

This was especially common when high-ranking nobles married their daughters into lower or equal-ranked families.

If a daughter was married to her liege lord—the strategy changed entirely.

- The goal? To wait.

- The method? Produce a legitimate heir.

- The next step? Summon public representatives.

- And then? Mourn the sudden, tragic death of her husband.

---

With the liege lord dead, the child heir would be placed under the regency of the mother's family.

From there, they would control both the territory and the ruler.

---

But such a takeover required necessary measures:

- Exiling or assassinating competing heirs,

- Allying with minor lords to absorb the domains of larger ones,

- Political manipulation based on circumstances.

---

The Malick family was old nobility.

This playbook was engraved into their DNA.

Even if they weren't actively trying to infiltrate the Eternal City, this kind of maneuvering was second nature to them.

---

Solomon, of course, understood these tactics.

He had even applied them in a territory conquest strategy game.

The results?

The Ancient One had praised his effectiveness—and then promptly beat the hell out of him.

Because he had unified Great Britain using nothing but political marriages and assassinations.

To the Sorcerer Supreme, that was the most unacceptable joke imaginable.

---

Stephanie was the sole heir of the Malick family.

Her personal security had been completely wiped out by the Sisters.

Since then, no one had been assigned to replace them.

So Gideon Malick was understandably paranoid.

He refused to let his daughter remain unguarded by his own people.

Some of the scientists he had sent to the Eternal City were actually spies.

But when they tried to contact Stephanie—

She immediately reported their names to Solomon without hesitation.

---

Solomon reviewed the list.

And then—he did nothing.

He simply locked the document away.

He did not know Gideon Malick's true intentions.

But he had already decided—Stephanie herself would make the final decision.

---

Her honesty, combined with her exceptional competence, was why Solomon was willing to lavishly spend both money and time on her.

He spared no expense—even when it came to the most expensive alchemical ingredients.

---

Stephanie drank three bottles of Solomon's personally brewed magical elixirs every day.

She also received a share of the Umbra Witches' body-enhancing potions—originally meant for the Sisters.

Each potion boosted either intelligence, perception, charisma, or physical resilience.

The Umbra Witch potions, however, only worked on women.

To obtain these formulas, Solomon had spent a considerable amount of effort currying favor with the last two remaining Umbra Witches.

---

He needed a brilliant and healthy Stephanie.

She had become too important to the Eternal City's bureaucratic structure.

At this point—her value even exceeded that of the Malick family itself.

Solomon didn't lack soldiers.

He lacked administrators.

---

So when Stephanie casually announced that she was taking Solomon to dinner, he checked the time zone difference—and agreed.

---

"We should go swimming!"

---

The rich could afford spontaneous whims.

It was winter in the Northern Hemisphere—but in the South, it was summer.

Perfect for swimsuits and sunbathing.

Stephanie explained how the Malick family often traveled across the globe to escape the seasons.

She was already planning the impromptu trip.

---

"You forgot about portals."

---

Stephanie's smile turned mischievous.

"Oh, I know," she said cheerfully.

"But I want to fly private jet."

---

"Fine. Call me when you land—I'll make time to see you."

Solomon stood up and began gathering his documents.

"Oh, and don't forget to mark your attendance sheet—you have a week off."

---

"You're serious?"

Stephanie's eyes widened.

She couldn't believe what she had just heard.

Then—she scowled in fury.

"You planned this on purpose!"
