Solomon in Marvel

Chapter 429: Chapter 429: Descent

The swords and explosive rifles wielded by the Sisterhood couldn't intimidate everyone. Athena arrived at the building without any notice. Despite the synthetics' attempts to block her, they didn't dare lay a hand on Solomon's adoptive mother, allowing her to walk straight into his bedroom.

"It's not too serious—just extreme mental exhaustion," Athena declared after a brief examination. This conclusion caused Diana, who had been wiping Solomon's body with a damp cloth, to let out a sigh of relief. Although she hadn't found any external injuries, the clotted blood she had cleaned from Solomon's nasal cavity had deeply worried her.

The goddess of wisdom rose to her full height and turned toward Diana and Maya Hansen. "What exactly did he do to push himself to this point?" she demanded.

"We do not know the details of Master's secret magic," Diana replied, her voice betraying a slight tremor. It was a small lie, but a lie nonetheless. Athena's sharp gaze locked onto Diana's eyes, causing the maid to lower her head anxiously. However, after a brief moment of hesitation, Diana straightened her posture, bit her lip, and returned the goddess's gaze with defiant resolve. Diana knew perfectly well what the silver key hanging around Solomon's neck represented but had no intention of revealing that truth to anyone.

Athena shifted her gaze to Maya Hansen, who, under the immense pressure of the goddess's presence, stammered out a rough account of the events that had transpired. Athena listened intently, her brows furrowed in thought.

"What has the Sorcerer Supreme said on this matter?" she asked. In matters of magic, not even a goddess could afford to act recklessly. If Solomon had cast such a dangerous spell with the Supreme Sorcerer's approval, then his current condition might already have been anticipated.

"The Sorcerer Supreme advised Master to rest and recover," Diana quickly interjected before Maya could speak. Maya closed her mouth, silently agreeing with the explanation. She knew full well that Wong had ranted about Solomon's recklessness, muttering complaints about "breaking down at critical moments" while casually raiding Solomon's fridge for near-expired beef. Diana, however, decided it wasn't necessary to share those details with Athena.

Athena's gaze lingered on them for a moment before she nodded in acceptance. Though she sensed there were unspoken details, she didn't press further. With Solomon's condition under control and the synthetics dedicating themselves to his care, she could entrust his recovery to them.

At least they could prevent that chubby cat from sleeping on Solomon's chest or choking him with a furball.

"Take good care of him," Athena said, adjusting the strap of her handbag as she prepared to leave. She gave the gray short-haired cat a gentle pat on the head and then surveyed the Sisterhood's fortified positions throughout the apartment floor. Finding no faults in their security arrangements, she finally addressed Diana once more. "Buy some glucose and prepare for an IV drip. He hasn't eaten in over a day."

"I will. Thank you for your help..."

People came in droves to visit Solomon, as if all his pending matters had converged the moment he fell asleep. With the witch duo, Bayonetta and Jeanne, tied up in Japan's Dragon Triangle, many others arrived to check on him. Even Tony Stark attempted to pay a visit. Diana suspected that S.H.I.E.L.D. was keeping a close eye on her master's movements. Solomon's sudden and ill-timed leave of absence had likely heightened their suspicions. Stark was probably sent to gather information under the guise of a friendly visit.

Diana firmly denied Tony's request to see Solomon, unwilling to let her master be disturbed by irrelevant matters.

Meanwhile, within the depths of his mind, Solomon found himself adrift in a surreal dream. He was aware of his slumber yet unable to awaken. The aftermath of his encounter with the overwhelming knowledge had weakened Merlin's enchantments on him, leaving Solomon submerged in the vast ocean of his subconscious.

In this dreamscape, a thick white ice cap blanketed a dark, endless sea—the sea of his consciousness. Beneath the ice, sacred double helixes of light floated within the abyss, continuously disassembling and recombining.

Unlike the brief glimpse he had during his pact with Yog-Sothoth, Solomon now had to confront this knowledge head-on. The ever-glowing double helix revealed intricate mathematical secrets and beauty, fractal-like in its complexity. Equations and laws unraveled and reshaped before his eyes, each base pair in the DNA strands containing intentional designs—some wild and creative, others methodically calculated. There were no random mutations or evolution without purpose here.

Solomon had no choice but to learn, absorbing the vast knowledge Yog-Sothoth had forcefully imparted.

This knowledge wasn't merely passive; it was a parasitic, resource-draining process. Like a malicious program running in the background, it consumed his cognitive functions, bombarding him with relentless information. This was why many sorcerers who sought wisdom from Yog-Sothoth eventually went mad. Most human brains couldn't handle the flood of data, let alone comprehend its terrifying intricacies.

Though Solomon's enhanced mind shielded him from madness, the sheer mental load exhausted him. He understood that only by fully deciphering the secrets of the double helix and finding a way to halt the information torrent could he truly awaken.

It was a battle of intellect, not brawn. He had to parse the mysteries of life revealed by the Black Goat of the Woods—a knowledge of restoration, growth, and creation that no mortal should ever possess.

In this revelation, Solomon grew increasingly convinced that humanity had been designed by external forces, much like himself. The Celestials had gifted humankind with encoded secrets within their DNA, secrets he now had to unlock. He needed to decode these genetic scripts, study the spells of life, and master the biological designs hidden within. He had to deconstruct, consume, and assimilate the knowledge that appeared in the form of writhing black mist and grotesque amalgamations of organs, dripping with viscous fluids.

A faint glow from the Eye of Agamotto interrupted his chaotic thoughts, stabilizing his frenzied mind. Slowly, Solomon sank deeper into the sea of unconsciousness, cradled by the soothing lights of the collective subconscious. The flickering stars of human awareness caressed his skin like gentle tendrils, lulling him into a deeper rest.

Outside, Diana frowned as she glanced at the bed, but after confirming there was no danger, she returned to assembling the IV stand she had just purchased.

No one could reach Solomon now—not through shouts, nor telepathy. Even the loud purring of the Cheshire cat on his chest failed to rouse him.

Kingdom.

Foundation, Majesty, Victory.

Beauty, Sovereignty, Mercy.

Between understanding and wisdom lay a chasm named Knowledge. It was the boundary between angels and gods, the division between the realm of creation and the world of archetypes.

To cross it meant traversing Da'at, ascending through Da'at Elyon—the "higher knowledge"—and reaching the domain of the divine.
