Solo Leveling: Infinite Talent

Chapter 4: Chapter 4: Unforeseen Threats

The air grew thick with tension as Mai Lee steadied his breath, his senses sharp. He could feel the cold creeping up the corridor, the ominous presence drawing closer with every passing second. His eyes narrowed as he focused on the approaching danger. He was no stranger to being hunted, but this felt different.

"Warning: Hostile presence detected. Level unknown."

The system's calm voice was at odds with the chaotic energy building around him. Mai Lee activated a few of his copied talents, merging them into a fusion that would give him an edge in battle.

Copying Talent: [Enhanced Senses]Fused Talent: [Predator's Perception]

His vision sharpened, and every sound in the environment became crystal clear. The faintest scuff of a footstep echoed through the stone floor. Something was stalking him, weaving in and out of his field of view, but Mai Lee was no longer just a victim to his surroundings. He was in control.

The temperature dropped even further, and the dark silhouette of a creature appeared in the distance. It was humanoid but distorted, its body covered in jagged, crystalline armor that gleamed in the dim light. The air around it shimmered with an unsettling energy, like a distortion in reality itself.

Mai Lee's heart skipped a beat as his system provided more information.

"Hostile: [Crystal Behemoth]. Level 8. Health: 150%."

It was an anomaly, something that shouldn't have existed here. The creature's mere presence felt wrong, as if it didn't belong in this dimension. Mai Lee had no idea how it got here, but he wasn't going to wait to find out.

"Prepare for combat. Activate fusion: [Monster Hunter's Instinct]."

A surge of awareness flooded his mind as he tapped into his instinctual knowledge of beasts and monsters. He had faced many types of creatures in his past life, but this one was unlike anything he had encountered. Its crystal-like armor was nearly impenetrable, but Mai Lee wasn't intimidated. He knew that fusions were his key to victory.

The Crystal Behemoth let out a low, guttural growl, its glowing eyes locking onto Mai Lee. With a sudden lunge, it charged forward, faster than he had anticipated. Its jagged claws extended as it aimed for his chest, but Mai Lee had already anticipated the attack.

He sidestepped with ease, his body moving like water, and then countered with a strike of his own. His fist, empowered by the fusion of [Dragon's Might] and [Crushing Earth Strike], slammed into the creature's side. The impact sent cracks spreading across its armor, but it was far from enough to defeat it.

The Behemoth roared in fury, swinging its enormous arms to retaliate. Mai Lee wasn't going to give it that chance. His copied talents worked in perfect harmony, each movement fluid and precise. He dodged again, only to land another strike, each hit more powerful than the last.

His fused abilities were proving effective, but the Behemoth wasn't backing down. Its crystal armor slowly repaired itself with each blow, regenerating at a frightening pace.

"Warning: Monster's resistance is regenerating."

Mai Lee cursed under his breath. He had to end this quickly. He tapped into a new fusion, combining the [Fire Resistance] with his newfound [Predator's Perception], and it clicked.

Fused Talent: [Inferno Predator Strike]

He leapt into the air, gathering his energy for one final blow. His fists crackled with fiery energy, and the surrounding air ignited with intense heat. As he descended, his body crashed into the Behemoth like a meteor, releasing an explosion of fire and raw power that consumed the creature. The impact left the ground in ruins, and when the dust settled, only the remains of the Behemoth's shattered armor were left.

Mai Lee stood amidst the wreckage, panting heavily. His body was drenched in sweat, but the exhilaration of victory washed over him. His fusions had made him stronger, but they also required careful management of energy. He needed to rest, but not for long.

"Inferno Predator Strike: A fusion of fire and heightened senses. Converts damage into a fiery attack, drastically increasing the impact and surrounding devastation."

Mai Lee looked down at the remains of the Behemoth and sighed. Another battle won, but this wasn't over. The world he had entered was full of dangers, and he wasn't sure how many more would come after him. But one thing was clear—he was getting stronger, faster, and more adaptable by the second.

"Hostile presence detected: Another creature approaches."

The system's voice was calm, but Mai Lee could feel the weight of its words. His battle was far from over. As the shadows deepened, he prepared for the next fight, his fusions at the ready.
