Soccer System: All the Skills, One Player!

Chapter 165: 164 -

Lucas Tanaka needed to score three goals to complete his "Big Step" mission. He already had one on the scoreboard. However, something other than his opponents was bothering him: coach Jimenez. He wanted Lucas to play further back, distributing passes in midfield. This was a brake for Lucas. He played as an attacking midfielder, not as a playmaker. This was a quality of Javier or Denis.

The team returned to the field for the second half, and the Brighton fans in the stands chanted louder and louder.

Meanwhile, the Sevilla players seemed to have had a productive chat in the dressing room.

"Let's end this happiness quickly, Gil," muttered Alejandro Pozo to Bryan Gil, as they fixed their socks. "Those English can't keep up with our possession."

Lucas heard Alejando saying that he was going to put an end to the happiness of the Brighton fans. Then, as he positioned himself in midfield and walked backwards, he looked at Alejandro and said: "You talk a good game, but you're still losing."

Bryan Gil laughed. "Still, man. Still."

The referee blew for the restart, and Sevilla played the ball. Genaro dropped back into defense, and the team got to work with their famous passing game.

As ordered, Lucas ran to press and try to win the ball back. Even though it was natural, Jimenez shouted:

"Easy, Tanaka! Get back, come on!" shouted the coach, gesturing.

"He looks like your nanny, huh?" teased Hugo Bueno, Sevilla's full-back, as he dribbled past Lucas.

"If I were you, I'd worry more about the game." Lucas said, running after him.

At that moment, Sevilla found their first opening. Hugo released Bryan Gil down the left, and the winger sped up.

Loki tried to keep up, but Gil left him behind with a dry dribble. When he reached the by-line with a long run, Gil crossed low to Iván Romero, who was coming into the area.

"Mark it, Daniel!" shouted Anton from the goal, already positioning himself.

Daniel didn't see the center-forward behind him, and Romero shot. Anton, however, dived like a wall, parrying the ball away with a bridge save to catch the ball in the bottom left corner.

"You're joking, Anton!" shouted Felix, clapping the goalkeeper on the back.

"If you guys helped more with the marking, I wouldn't have to save every time," retorted Anton in a joking but serious tone.

The team took the corner short, and Sevilla once again tried to find space. Javier, alert, intercepted a pass on the edge of the box and started the counter-attack.

"Go, Miguel!" shouted Javier, throwing the ball to the right-winger who was already shooting from the edge of the box.

Miguel dominated and advanced, but Hugo Bueno immediately surrounded him. The Sevilla full-back gave him a gentle push before taking the ball.

"You're fast, but not fast enough," said Hugo, glaring at Miguel.

Miguel tried to pick up the ball, but Hugo soon passed and ran clear again.

As Sevilla restarted the move, Jimenez shouted new instructions. "Lucas, organize! Work the ball calmly!"

"Calmly?" muttered Lucas to himself, looking at the crowd who were begging for another goal.

Felix noticed Lucas' hesitation and shouted: "He's right, man. You're playing well, but we need control."

"I know, but they're opening up space. You can take advantage of it," replied Lucas, frustrated.

Meanwhile, Bryan Gil was advancing once again. He was thrilled to have crossed a ball once.

Loki, determined not to repeat the mistake, made a precise tackle and took the ball.

Lucas received Loki's pass and immediately turned to attack. He saw Raphael on the left wing asking for the ball, but hesitated. Genaro approached to press.

"Are you scared, kid?" Genaro teased, giving Lucas a gentle push.

Lucas caught the ball, protected it, straightened his body, and gave Javier a quick touch. Like Hugo, he moved to become a passing option.

Javier quickly returned the ball and Lucas saw space. He advanced, faking out Genaro, who recovered. However, he was stopped with a foul by Hugo Bueno.

"That was clean, referee!" said Hugo, raising his hands to the referee.

"Clean? You pushed me!" complained Lucas, getting up.

"If it was a real push, you'd still be on the ground," replied Hugo.

The referee blew his whistle and gave the foul. Lucas latched onto the ball to take it. The foul was only five meters beyond the opponent's half. It was far from the goal. However, the Brighton fans sang louder, trying to push Brighton towards a second goal.

Felix approached. "Are you going to take it quickly or play it into the box?"

Lucas looked at him and then at the area. "I'll kick it."

"What? From here?!"

"I'll try."

An impressive silence crossed the pitch and echoed through the stands as Lucas Tanaka lined up the ball for the free-kick. The way he was carefully setting it up made it almost obvious that he was going to shoot from there. So it caused a bit of a stir.

On the bench, coach Jimenez put his hands on his head in disbelief when he saw Lucas asking his teammates not to go into the box and to get out of the way of the ball.

"He's got to be kidding! That's an absurd decision! Why doesn't he pass? We need to work the ball!"

Alex tried to tone it down. "Lucas is unpredictable, but he's good."

"No. He's being superb."

On the pitch, his teammates were equally confused.

"Lucas, this is crazy!" shouted Javier, already positioning himself for a rebound.

Arthur, the center forward, raised his hands. "You know I'm in the box, right? You don't have to try the impossible."

Raphael laughed nervously. "If that goes in, I swear I'll buy dinner tonight."

Lucas didn't answer anyone. He was focused, his eyes fixed on the distant goal. It was a risky decision, but he knew it wasn't impossible. He had hit difficult shots before. Why not now? He had nothing to lose. Considering how tall Sevilla's players were, crosses wouldn't be very effective.

In the stands, the buzz was growing.

Kate Dyer, a pretty, black-haired young woman, leaned forward in her seat and put both hands together. "What's he doing?" she asked, looking at her friend, Lucy Griffin, who was standing next to her.

Lucy gave a lopsided smile. "He's going to kick, I think."

"And is that common? Because people seem pretty agitated right now."

"Not common. But if anyone can do it, it's Lucas. He loves being the hero. If he can't do it, at least he'll give the fans a good reason to make fun of him afterwards," Lucy replied, laughing.

Meanwhile, on the live broadcast, the narrators were also surprised.

"What's that Tanaka kid thinking? Is he really going to try a direct kick from midfield?" exclaimed one commentator, his voice full of incredulity.

"Look, if he does, it'll be one of the most spectacular goals we've ever seen. But honestly, it's unlikely," replied the main narrator, trying to be more diplomatic.

"This is U-20, buddy. Anything is possible here," said the younger commentator, with a tone of optimism.

On the pitch, the Sevilla players started laughing and teasing.

"Are you really going to shoot from there, seven? Please do. We'll love to see you miss!" shouted Alejandro Pozo, holding back a smile. "

"It'll be a gift for us," added Bryan Gil, positioning himself for the counter-attack.

Lucas took a few steps back, calculating the force and angle of the shot. He took a deep breath, visualizing the path of the ball.

In the stands, the fans were divided between skepticism and support.

"He's crazy! It's too far!" shouted an older man with a Brighton scarf wrapped around his neck.

"Go on, Lucas! You can do it!" shouted a young woman in a Brighton shirt, waving her arms in the air.

Lucas started the race.

The stadium seemed to hold its breath. He took three firm steps and, a moment before hitting the ball, activated the skill he had recently gained.

[The skill <Immortal Technique> has been activated].

[From now on, you will have the skill of the best professional in history in the field you are practicing for 1 second. This is a skill that all professionals have, but most of them can't use it for over 3 seconds and can't control when they use it. You are a case in point].

[The cooldown of this skill is 30 days].

Yes, the <Immortal Technique> was nothing more and nothing less than based on the concept that anyone can be the best at something for a moment in their life. So Lucas Tanaka could control when he would have his piece of luck moment.

The impact of Lucas' foot against the ball echoed across the pitch, and the silence was replaced by a unison sound of astonishment.

The ball flew with absurd force and precision. It rose at first, but descended rapidly, describing a perfect curve towards the goal. It made everyone's eyes widen.

Sevilla's goalkeeper, who was ahead, took a step back, realizing too late that the shot wasn't just a meaningless attempt.

"Come on, Mena, jump!" shouted Genaro.

Mena, the Sevilla goalkeeper, leapt with all his might, but the ball sailed over his hands and into the top left-hand corner of the goal, crashing into the net like thunder.

The stadium exploded.

"My God, Lucas! You're crazy!" shouted Felix, hugging Lucas.

"I told you I'd buy you dinner if you got it right!" exclaimed Raphael, laughing with pure euphoria.

Shouts, applause, and chants echoed as Lucas ran towards the crowd with his arms open. His teammates quickly caught up with him, hugging him and celebrating as if they had just won a title.

In the stands, Kate Dyer was in shock. "He... He did it! Lucy, did you see? He did it!"

Lucy, her eyes wide, just shook her head. "I told you. He loves being the hero."

On the broadcast, the narrators were incredulous.

"I can't believe what I've just seen! Lucas Tanaka has just scored a stunning goal almost from midfield!"

"That goes straight into the best moments of the year. What vision, what precision, what courage! It was like Roberto Carlos kicking the ball! He kicked it with his three fingers and the strength of that skinny leg was frightening!"

On the Brighton bench, even Jimenez had to give in. He shook his head, giving a small smile.

"That boy..." He put a hand in front of his face and remembered when he saw Lucas playing in the Brighton sieve. "... a fluke shot."

It was only then that Jimenez remembered that Lucas Tanaka wasn't just any player. He was a maniac.
