Chapter 21- Reincarnation Skills & Descent
Well, there seems to be some outrageous things here in my Appraisal results...?
I’ll go over those later, but I’ll be double Appraising information in order for now.
First things first, my species.
My species’ evolution tree is still shrouded in darkness, but at least, I can see learn what I am right now, I could’ve become some sort of herbivore monster which is certainly a dead end.
{Serratum Saven: Evolution Requirements: Small fish-type creature, [Kin Eater] title. Description: A scavenger marine species. Do not let that their habits mislead you as they have precise vision and poison resistance due to environmental adaption, not weakness.}
Oooh...? Oooh!!
So, my intuition strikes true again! I don’t know about the other evolution option, but this one’s the most fitting for my current needs.
Although being a scavenger whose main diet consists of leftovers does leave a bad taste in my mouth (heh), but it’s undoubtedly beneficial for survivability and adaptability.
I should check on my new appearance as well...
Before, I looked like a Silver Grunt fish, silver scaled with spiky dorsal fin, and my length was 23 centimeters at level 10.
But now though, I’ve gained 7 centimeters putting me at a total of 30, and my scales have turned...magenta? like a really light purple.
Lastly, my teeth have become sharper and their number increased with my enlarged jaws, they’ve become serrated like I thought.
Overall, nothing disadvantageous for me.
My size is still considered small, my scales grants me basic underwater camouflage, and my sharper teeth mean higher attack power.
I bet I could kill the smaller snakes without Assassin’s damage bonus now.
My resources and ability numbers fully reflect can fully reflect my current strength without stat skills, hmmm.
They appear to be... above average, I think? I don’t really know others of my race, but I remember some information about first stage monsters in the anime.
Well, my stats won’t be increasing much unless I do body training or gain stat enhancing skills.
Stat enhancing skills could be acquired from monster hunter series titles in the future, but... how am I supposed to train my body as a fish?
I mean, swimming is technically a sport, right? And swimming under severe water pressure could be equated to increasing weights in a gym.
Soo, my training should be to swim deeper... I refuse thankyouverymuch, do you realize how many mind-bending horrors are down there?!
No way I’m doing it unless you give me some sort of mental pollution resistance skill!!
Heretic Resistance is gonna have to be on my agenda from now on...
Next up are skills and I have to say, there are some names that make my heart flutter in there.
No need to care about the ones already shown in the anime, but my eyes still linger a bit on Suffering Nullification and Exhaustion Nullification.
Those two are most certainly not acquired with evolution, so I’ll take a guess and say that they are the result my habits in Japan.
Specifically, me not getting a wink of sleep for over 14 years and asking Manager-san to turn off my pain receptors at every turn.
Moving on, it’s time to check on the three kings of doom in my skill list.
Daughter of Space, Soul Seeker, and Sage.
Judging from their names and the absence of level numbers next to them, these guys are my reincarnation skills.
Yes, its plural, not one but THREE skills.
Now I can confirm where my skill points and my hope to reincarnate as a god right away went.
Exactly. Fucking. Here.
So, show me what you three glutinous babies can do!
{Daughter of Space: You have insane affinity for the illusive element of space, understanding its mysteries is as natural as swimming for you. Integrates all spatial-type skills, negating the need for any proficiencies.}
{Soul Seeker: The soul has always been an illusory existence for mortals, yet you are easily able to observe and interact with such existence even with a weaker mortal body. Integrates all heretic-type skills, negating the need for any proficiencies.}
{Sage: Your very own soul supercomputer! Integrates all second-stage perception skills. Rune speed, rune stability, rune strength exceed the system’s maximum, allowing for instant magic casting. Lifts the ban on non-system rune creation.}
What. The. Fuck? ...how is this even allowed...?!
These aren’t even skills anymore, just downright cheat codes!!
All my spatial and heretic skills are maxed right away...? These two are enough for me to become the greatest mage amongst humanity, maybe even amongst this entire world!
And this is without mentioning Sage and how broken it is.
Instant magic casting with above maximum properties while allowing non-system magic spell creation...
Although I’m nothing but a quick seafood meal for most creatures on this planet right now, but I have the potential to become a goddess of magic.
Oi, I’m pretty sure Alkreya never meant for my talent wishes to become whatever this is let alone for Manager-san to turn into a broken skill like Sage...
So, this can only be D’s doing, but... I fail to comprehend why the evil god would give me such benefits.
The amount of favors I owe people is becoming excessive, and there’s no doubt that I’ll need to repay it all in the future.
Alkreya gave me three wishes and then added Manager-san and a good living environment on top of it.
Now D, upgraded those wishes which are already considered a sure-fire god making combination without making any future agreements with me like Alkreya.
Even if she was the one who threw me into such a dangerous environment without any prior warnings, those three skills are enough to offset all of it and make me indebted to her, yet I’m not even sure if that’s the end of what she has prepared for me.
You’re probably watching me with a mind reading ability turned on right now, right? I just wanted to say thank you.
There, saying thanks is the minimum courtesy.
After those three skills, there is Taboo and the reincarnation identification skills, I already know about those.
Skill points are only 10, so this confirms my theory about starting with no skill points.
Also, this means that gaining a level in after in this stage of evolution means an extra 20 skill points, that’s fine.
Then there’s titles, but I was aiming for those when I got them, so I already know their information.
What an amazing self-exploration journey. Fuck yoga, just watching my Appraisal results is enough to clear my worries!
Ahhh, I’m really excited right now... Imagine how strong I’ll be after fully activating those skills and benefiting from their overlaps.
You betcha, I’ll be analyzing all skills out there and applying them to myself without system-aid later.
Then I’m gonna go for the other reincarnations’ skills and changing them to a form similar to what my wishes have become and hide them inside my soul core.
The Administrators are such generous people, such freebies are going to be the most stable foundation for my apotheosis, fufu.
It’s also the only way to eliminate the hidden dangers of the system, who’d want their entire strength to be nothing but power lent by someone else?
Why not go even further and analyze the system itself then integrate it into Sage...? I can have a mini system for my exclusive use, hehehe.
Little did I know now, those overflowing desires of mine fulfilled satisfy a condition for a skill that’ll allow me to become even stronger but will throw me right into the middle of this world’s conspiracy whirlpools.
Pheww, now that my lone Appraisal Ceremony is finished, it’s time to say goodbye to this death cave.
My resources are full after evolution, and I don’t have any unfinished business here.
Leaving my first resemblance of a home in this world, I start my descent down to the ocean’s depths.
Although it seems like this cave isn’t that deep due to my frequent traversal, I’ve only went through less than 50% of this place.
Now that might not seem like much, but keep in mind that it represents depth not distance, every meter is accompanied by exponential increase in water pressure, and judging by the amount of light reaching here, there’s at least another 100 meters distance between the cave’s opening and the water surface.
Spina Argentea and Serratum Saven seem to be mid twilight zone sea species with stronger bodies among marine creatures.
The deeper I go, the larger the size of the surrounding creatures.
Even, normal marine life seems to have gone extinct after some distance and only monster evolutions remained.
This means that fighting them became a lot harder and their intelligence became higher.
Crabs started having spikey growths on their bodies, rendering the earlier injury free method of ambushing them useless. Killing and eating them in one go means a whole load of pain and internal injuries for me.
Sea snakes’ Appraisal results returned the Poison Fangs skill in their repertoire as well, meaning I can’t risk getting bitten by them in the future.
I’m concerned about the lack of diversity in species in here though, but it’s understandable considering that this is a large sea snake’s hole.
Only crabs which stick to walls, or the snake offspring can survive in such an environment, while others may have become the snake’s nutrients by now.
I’m believe I’ll enter a whole new world by the end of my descent.
{Proficiency has reached the required level. [Prediction LV 3] has become [Prediction LV 4].}
{Proficiency has reached the required level. [Swimming LV 5] has become [Swimming LV 6].}
{Proficiency has reached the required level. [Night Vision LV 2] has become [Night Vision LV 3].}
Neat.
This cave’s end is near, I can tell by the stirring of the normally stagnant waters around me, but another reason is the presence of fish that aren’t actually sticking to walls.
They should strays from the depths!
Judging by their stats, they should be first-stage evolution marine creatures like me, I can win through the advantage of wisdom, but getting food will become problematic.
Guess I’m gonna have to stay for an extra day and stock up on SP, let’s find shelter first!
Unbeknownst to this fish that is just starting her adventure, a huge distance away from her location, in the largest labyrinth in this world, the taratect hatching season has begun.
