Ch. 107
Chapter 107: Sealing Spell
"What a delicious gift~"
Another big smiling face was scribbled in the air.
As the Source Energy Fragment was absorbed, the magic power of the Hundred-Eyed Specter gradually began to recover.
"Use your sealing ability on me."
"Yes, Master."
Buzz— a brilliant white light flashed again. On the surface of the Hundred-Eyed Specter’s mirror, ripples spread like water waves.
"Do I need to enter it myself?"
"Yes, Master."
After receiving confirmation, Janna didn’t hesitate. She bent down and stepped through the oval mirror that was only half her height.
"Is this... the Mirror Layer Domain?"
The sky remained the same endless gray-white, and the ground stretched out like liquid mercury. Seeing this familiar scene, Janna’s expression momentarily stiffened.
"Rather than a Sealing Spell, it’s more like... a door leading to the Mirror Layer Domain?"
However, what puzzled Janna was that she wasn’t in spirit form upon entering. Logically, with how petty the [Mirror Law] was, it would never let an "intruder" like her enter unchecked.
"What’s going on?"
"Because you made a contract with me, you’re a guest recognized by the Law."
So that’s how it is...
"What about others?"
"They’re enemies. The Law will eliminate them."
Buzz— as Janna passed back through the Hundred-Eyed Specter into the material world, the way she looked at her third Contract Summoned Creature grew even more satisfied.
"Illusion, short-range teleportation, sealing—if used properly, these are practically a deadly trap."
She silently ran through various viable plans in her mind, but each one led to a life-and-death scenario. So, there was no need to reveal the sealing ability during routine Apprentice Combat classes; it could be kept as a hidden trump card.
"Hundred-Eyed—Hundred-Eyed—how many eyes do you have now?"
"Not a single one (sad)."
From the creature’s name, Janna could easily deduce that as the Hundred-Eyed Specter grew stronger, it would inevitably evolve into a form that fully matched its true Contract Name.
"Are there Hundred-Eyed Specters in the Mirror Layer Domain that have reached a hundred eyes?"
"Master, in my world, everyone is unique, just like me (smile)."
Unique?
So that meant each mirror creature was actually different?
"But none of them are stronger than me~"
Hearing this, Janna nodded in agreement.
After all, the Mirror Layer Domain was just one small plane among billions.
Even the Law couldn’t do anything to Janna and her companions. The native creatures couldn’t possibly be that powerful.
"Why did you sign a contract with me? Was it because of the Source Energy Fragment?"
"No (smile)."
"Even without that thing, I would’ve still signed a contract with you~"
"In order to have you all to myself, I even made an illusion barrier that no one can find~"
"I can feel it, Master, you’ll make me stronger and stronger~"
"Stronger than all of them (determined)!"
Reading the fast-flowing words like subtitles on the mirror’s surface, Janna started to feel that she might be the one who got tricked...
"You’re pretty clever."
Praising from the heart, Janna, having completed the preliminary evaluation of the summoned creature, dispelled the contract force and sent the Hundred-Eyed Specter back to the Mirror Layer Domain.
"Knock knock knock—"
Just as Janna was about to head to the washroom, a sudden urgent knock came from outside her dormitory window.
"A Rook? Is there new mail?"
Seeing the Rook’s hurried posture, Janna quickly walked to the windowsill and pushed open the dorm window.
"Caw— Apprentice, here’s your schedule. Keep it safe!"
"Thank you, Lord Rook."
With its task completed, the Rook continued flapping its wings, carrying a dark brown satchel, flying off toward the next dorm window.
"This week’s class schedule... Didn’t they already send it out on Sunday? Is there a sudden change?"
Every weekend, the Rooks would distribute the next week’s schedule to all apprentices.
They also handled mail delivery, package shipping, quest dispatches, and commissions—certainly not an easy job.
"Notice of the official start of the Introductory Medical Studies course—"
Seeing the first line of the schedule, Janna’s eyelid twitched involuntarily.
"Didn’t expect the class to begin right after I exchanged for it— I really am lucky."
Thinking of the "Luck" stat on her Character Panel, which wasn’t low, Janna’s already good mood improved even more.
"Since Introductory Medical Studies is starting, then Contract Studies must be around the corner—"
The first Introductory Medical Studies class was scheduled for 8 p.m. the next evening. Janna wasn’t surprised by the timing.
After all, Undead Faction wizards, who became more alert the darker it got, working at night aligned perfectly with her stereotypical impression of the Headmaster.
"Tick tock— tick tock—"
After pinning the new schedule to the door, and seeing that the clock already pointed to 7:30, Janna finished a quick wash, put on her wizard robe, picked up her Ancient Magic History textbook, and briskly left her dorm.
"Janna—"
She had just stepped into the shared classroom on the fifth floor of the Magic Tower when a loud, excited voice came from the front row.
"Vivian? Didn’t you say you’d be back tomorrow?"
Seeing Vivian’s energetic and cheerful expression, Janna couldn’t help but smile as she sat down beside her.
"Plans changed. I finished my task early, so I came back a day ahead— but enough of that, look at me! Do I seem different?"
Seeing Vivian’s expectant look, Janna only needed to slightly sense her with Spirit Power to understand what the "surprise" she had messaged the Door Spirit about was.
"Congratulations. You’ve already reached the breakthrough threshold for wizard level. Looks like once your Spirit Power hits twenty, you’ll be officially promoted to Second Tier Wizard Apprentice."
"Right? Pretty fast, huh! I’m telling you, I worked really hard on this mission to max out my apprentice level! Isn’t that amazing~"
Seeing Vivian showing off and fishing for praise, Janna naturally didn’t spoil the mood and offered her a sincere compliment.
"Haha, you finally praised me. Now let me see—what’s your current level—"
A silver-white flash of Spirit Power glimmered in Vivian’s eyes. As their eyes met, the smile on Vivian’s face suddenly froze.
"You— broke through!?"
