Slave Harem In A Labyrinth Of Another World (Fix)

Chapter 19 – The Second Floor

The room after the first floor boss contained a black wall.

When I walked into the black wall, and after an instant of darkness--I emerged into a small room that resembled the one that at the entrance to the Dungeon.

Similar to the first floor, it’s a small room, but it has two corridors leading out--instead of three. If someone were to lead me in here with a blindfold, it would take a while for me to notice the difference.

Dungeon Gate is probably usable here, so I can come and go as I please--shall I give it a try?

No.

Even if I succeeded in my attempt, I don’t know if I would be teleported back here or have to fight the Boss again. Well, let’s see what happens if I exit through the rippling wall.

I step through the wall, and abruptly exit into a dazzling place. It’s the Dungeon’s Entrance--the same Explorer as yesterday was standing there. It looks like it may soon be nightfall.

I think that’s enough for today, as long as I’m careful, I should make it in time.

A party of six people approach from the opposite side of the road. The explorer leading the party starts speaking to the Explorer near the Dungeon’s entrance.

“How far did you get?”

“The Fourth Floor.”

I listened to their conversation from the side, while pretending to look through my rucksack.

Information gathering is important.

The party’s Explorer glanced over at the Knight’s expression, he seems to be especially significant to the party.

“What can we expect to find on the fourth floor?” The Knight asked.

“Mino. From the first floor onwards are 1st Needle Wood, 2nd Green Caterpillars, 3rd Kobolds.” The Explorer standing at the entrance explained to the Party.

“Well, we finished the third floor boss, so--let’s start at the 4th floor.” The Knight spoke, before nodding to his party’s Explorer.

The Explorer recited something that I couldn’t hear, murmuring under his breath. He opens his Item Box and retrieves a silver coin, and gives it to the Explorer at the entrance.

Responding to the companion’s faith, their honesty written in their hearts, form a group that never parts--Party Formation.” The Explorer at the entrance says a strange chant…it doesn’t even rhyme.

But, it seems to be the incantation for forming a Party.

“Great. Let’s start from the fourth floor.” The Knight declares, leading the six into the Dungeon.

I also set out towards town.

It seems that one of the two Explorers had gone to the fourth floor, and then they utilized Dungeon Gate and the Party spell; allowing that group to jump to the fourth floor, it seems that it cost them 1 silver.

So, the Explorers standing in front of the Dungeon are there to allow for skipping floors in the Dungeon--I had wondered why they were there.

It’s a fairly well thought out strategy, especially for lazy people who wish to skip floors. I should probably make use of this, and as long as the jump in danger isn’t too bad--I should be able cope with it.

Since I’m not entirely sure of my strength, it would be safest to go through the floor sequentially--I will only jump floors if it gets close to my deadline and I don’t have the gold for buying Roxanne.

Using Field Walk, combined with Dungeon Gate…Explorers and Adventurers seem to be able to go wherever they want--as long as the user has the Mana to go between towns.

To increase my power, I acquire a Fourth Class, which only costs 4 BP.

Name: Alex Conner

Age: 17

Sex:  Male

Class: Explorer, Hero, Soldier, Swordsman

Level: 14, 4, 8, 1

However, from my Antidote Potions, and random loot, I only make 5 silver; I didn’t make a gold today--I need to up my game.

After a quick dinner, and hot wash, I retire for the night; I need to remember to go to bed early and rise early--since it’s boring without technology, only sleep keeps me entertained.

The sooner I sleep, the sooner morning will arrive, and I can try out the second floor of the dungeon.

***

I wake before light, I had asked the Hotel Receptionist to give me a wake-up call.

Using Warp, I come to the entrance room of the second floor of the Dungeon. Appearance-wise, it’s difficult to tell it apart from the entrance to the first floor, except the number of passageways.

Luckily, this time around, I wasn’t affected as badly by Warp--my Hero Class had leveled up again after killing the boss; my Mana pool had increased significantly.

While, I say ‘as badly’, my head ached and I felt a little sad, but that was all; it’s still tough on my mind, so I won’t want to use it a lot without large breaks in between.

Since the entrance to the first floor was on the right, so my only choice was the path to the left.

Almost instantly, another crossroad appears and a Demon appears from the next left.

Needle Wood - Lv15

A Needle Wood?

I thought different Demons appeared on different floors?

Unless, it just means they appear alongside the Demon from the previous floor; well the level increase is a clear sign that this is definitely second floor, well, time to try out my combat ability.

With a single diagonal slash of Excalibur…it died in one blow.

It may be level 15--but I can still kill it in one blow; I wonder if it’s because Excalibur is so Overpowered, or because I am higher leveled.

Green Caterpillar - Lv15

Ahh, finally the new Demon for this floor.

It’s a huge green caterpillar with a red stripe down its back, a yellow stomach, nubby little leg-like things; and a large spike at the end of its tail, which drips a green liquid…its also around the size of a Great Dane.

Frankly…it’s disgusting.

The Green Caterpillar quickly approached me, and after observing it closely--I ran at it and swung Excalibur down at it from above.

It was a one-hit kill this time too--after the green smoke dissipated, all that was left is a bundle of yarn.

I hunted a lot of Demons, and a lot of Green Caterpillars, and Needle Woods.

While thinking about them, I encountered both Demons at once.

Needle Wood - Lv15

Green Caterpillar - Lv15

Are they a group, or happen to run into each other randomly?

Excluding the Demon Room, this would be the first time I encountered Demons in pairs.

First, I drove Excalibur into the Needle Wood, killing it in one blow. When I shifted my attention to the Green Caterpillar, I saw an orange Magic Formation appear beneath its chest.

Before I could react, the Magic Formation disappeared and thread shot at me; I barely managed to raise my shield in time; the sticky white thread wrapped around my shield, and my arm. My forward leg was also bound, making movement almost impossible.

While I struggled to regain my mobility, I ended up taking a blow from the Green Caterpillar, directly into the raised shield--

Pain lanced through my arm, and I felt my wrist and should sprain--I would need the HP Absorption ability of Excalibur to fix it. As it reared back up for a second attack, I slashed it with Excalibur, causing the Green Caterpillar to disappear into a puff of green smoke.

The smoke dispersed and a ball of thread lay on the ground, but the thread wrapped around my body disappeared with the Demon’s corpse.

Handling one or two probably wouldn’t be too much of a problem, but if they were to show up in a group like in the Demon Room in the first floor--I would be, most likely, doomed.

I’m not sure what I could use as countermeasures, the only thought that comes to mind is to buy Roxanne and get more companions.

Though, I wonder if that Demon Room was a considerably rare trap-room; not only were there groups of lower-level people running around, and I only ran into one Demon Room, even after quite a few hours of exploring.

I could only handle the room because of Excalibur,

However--lowering my guard would be foolish, anyone who does that in a Dungeon, is headed for certain death; however, what happens once can happen again…I should stay on my toes.

As for possible countermeasures, well other than Roxanne--I would have to continuously level up. Not only would that increase my extermination rate, it will also boost my abilities; and my chances of survival.

Unfortunately, I can’t take my time slowly and carefully grinding. There is a time limit to Roxanne’s purchase…I have to quickly reach the lower floors and earn money.

Maybe I could learn attacks which affect multiple opponents.

However, neither Overwhelming nor Rush are AOE Skills.

Author’s Note: AOE = Area of Affect

I also tried the Swordsman Class’s Slash Skill, but it seems to just speed up the attack itself, and maybe increase the attack power.

My main issue is I only learned sword fighting online, and it wasn’t geared towards handling multiple target. However, if Melee Combat doesn’t work, why not try Magic?

Magic is usually useful on battlefields with many enemies.

I overheard that to become a Mage, you would have to drink a special Potion--usually when you were 5 or 6, so you had time to train.

Does this mean that since I have long passed that age, I am unable to become a Mage?

Well…I guess I will just have to try--I mean, I seem to have an easy-mode when it comes to unlocking Classes.

That being the case, theoretically, if I manage to cast a Spell even once, I should be able to get the Mage Class. Although using Warp, or Dungeon Gate, hasn't given me the class.

Then again, if that was the case, if that was all that was required, all Explorers and Adventurers could become Mages. So, it’s likely that the requirement would be some kind of offensive or defensive Magic that isn’t originally part of the Class’ Skills.

I happen to have some Bonus Points left over, so there should be a simpler Bonus Spell that is offensive. With my increased Mana, it may be doable.

There is one called Meteor Crash--it sounds offensive, and it is the spell with the lowest BP cost--and the least world-ending sounding…I think Ragnarok, Ice Age, Desolation, Devour All Creation…etc.

Well, let’s try Meteor Crash.
