Sky-cracking Rider

Chapter 1014: Section 1002 - Bad News and Good News

With a communication rate of 1 byte per second, whether used or not, it remains there.

Chen Fei didn't let this communication channel idle and instead compiled a more detailed report, sending it out as lettered words.

60 bytes per minute, 3600 bytes per hour, 86400 bytes every 24 hours, roughly over 80kb bandwidth capacity, enough to clearly explain the entire situation.

Images and videos are still out of the question. What can you do with more than eighty kb per day? It takes ten days to barely have enough capacity for one image, practically useless.

For several days in a row, Heseman Brown didn't return to take his shift, as he was busy communicating with other superpower users.

The exchange between superpower users requires not only more attempts to spark creative ideas but, most importantly, luck.

The Earth Element Warrior Dang Wei Jun, as taciturn as ever, continued to guard Chen Fei. He never spoke unnecessary words, unlike when an S-Class superpower user was around, when he could still occasionally chat a bit.

Outside the "Skylight," it was always pitch black and freezing, hard to distinguish day from night. Thick clouds seemed about to touch the ground, and dry ice chunks falling from the sky showed no signs of stopping. No one knew when this cold winter would end.

The more than ten thousand people unexpectedly teleported to the ancestral land of "Sagali" seemed to lack nothing, living peacefully through the planetary winter.

Although there was no conclusive evidence, Chen Fei and the military leaders agreed that all of this was the design of the "Master of the Firmament." Otherwise, it wouldn't be surprising to lose more than half in a short time due to the harsh environment, even a total wipeout wouldn't be unexpected.

The sudden Zombie Task from the Dog System made Chen Fei suspect that the meeting with the Divine Breed "Sagali" McKenny was likely pre-arranged.

While waiting for an opportunity to communicate with the Divine Breed, Chen Fei wasn't idle, dedicating a significant portion of time and energy to the newly regularized "Alchemy Workshop." He left various mundane city management tasks to the AI "Adam." AI managing a city wasn't something new. Tasks requiring human intervention usually involved unexpected situations and weren't particularly burdensome, especially since the residents here were originally military personnel who could spontaneously rebuild order swiftly no matter how dispersed or reorganized.

The Alchemy and Magic Array Interest Group, previously providing spell array design plans for the "Skylight," wasn't disbanded but officially integrated to continue their mission.

These people weren't even proper alchemists, merely amateurs just getting into the field. They were gathered together through a temporary questionnaire screening for latent talent, not merely for their superficial alchemy knowledge.

The most important elements are imagination and creativity, which aren't necessarily related to possessing alchemical talent. Furthermore, with the open alchemy data and AI "Adam's" spell array computing models to assist, they weren't bound to flail about like headless flies.

While dreaming of high-grade alchemy products was out of the question, low-grade alchemical artifacts and spell arrays might just work out something noteworthy.

Adam: A vehicle is leaving the "Skylight," driven by Lin Zixian and Ginny.

Along with the subtitles that popped up, a small map appeared, with a flashing light departing from the "Skylight's" edge, heading into the endless ice field formed by thick dry ice accumulation. There's a brief record of the "Skylight" external passage being opened.

Ordinary vehicles exposed outside the "Skylight" would be immediately smashed into scrap by falling dry ice and stones from the sky.

However, the vehicle struggling through the dry ice blizzard had been specially modified into a Mobile Base Vehicle, equipped with a small SEG Core Unit. It not only provided continuous power but also maintained a Repulsion Shield covering the entire vehicle, blocking downward-falling dry ice and stones, perfectly suited for handling such physical impacts.

For some reason, this experimental model, designed for emergency rescue, ended up in the hands of Lin Zixian and Ginny. The two unexpectedly drove together out into the hellish terrain beyond the "Skylight." No sane person would see this as anything but a death march. Clearly, some unexpected event had occurred, perhaps due to the "Skylight"'s insufficient anticipated external spiritual power defense, allowing the Divine Breed "Sagali" to succeed once more unhindered.

"Notify Deputy Mayor Huang Xiulun to investigate how that Mobile Base Vehicle got driven away. 'Adam,' re-verify all the spell arrays within the 'Skylight.'

Chen Fei didn't become angry. He immediately suspected the Divine Breed "Sagali" McKenny was behind the mischief, having been intentionally teleported there with premeditated mental interference, making it impossible to fully guard against.

Lin Zixian and Ginny seemed to be victims of the other party's schemes. Separated, they already aroused suspicion, but now grouped together, it grew even more dubious.

Unexpectedly, the opportunity to communicate with the Divine Breed arose at such a time. Chen Fei originally thought he would have to wait for the winter to end, for the dry ice covering the earth to fully sublimate, before he had a chance to make contact with the other side.

It didn't take ten minutes for Huang Xiulun, second-in-command and Deputy Mayor of "Atlantis," to rush to Chen Fei's floor upon receiving the news.

"What? Lin Zixian and Ginny drove away in a snowfield Mobile Base Vehicle? Are they courting death?"

Due to the geographical advantage of the Central Building's location, his office was also within the tower, allowing him to keep tabs on the situation in "Atlantis" and the Satellite City at all times.

Upon hearing from Chen Fei that someone dared venture out into the all-encompassing cold and overwhelming dry ice, Huang Xiulun's jaw nearly dropped in astonishment.

After questioning Lin Zixian, he was left unattended as if no one cared if he escaped. "Skylight" was a large cage entrapping not only the Wall of Sighs operations force but also Lin Zixian. Escape was futile; going out meant certain death, hence, it wasn't an overstatement to say it was all but a drawn cage.

Yet, despite such a unique environment, Lin Zixian not only fled but also took the still under-suspicion female officer Ginny along. Whether there was an unspeakable secret between them needed further investigation.

"Divine Breed 'Sagali,' McKenny!" Chen Fei directly gave a hint, paused, and continued: "I don't think it's their own decision."

Huang Xiulun immediately felt a chill and said, "What? The Divine Breed, have they infiltrated us?"

"Don't worry, the Divine Breed can't infiltrate for now; 'Adam' keeps an eye on every nook and cranny."

Due to the anticipated non-hostile relationship, Chen Fei wasn't immediately concerned about the security of "Atlantis." After all, this was "Sagali's" home ground. Never mind the nearly twenty thousand strong Wall of Sighs operations force—if the opponent wanted, they could wipe them all out in minutes and no one could prevent it.

The AI's monitoring network wasn't perfect, for instance, it couldn't tell if Lin Zixian and Ginny had colluded with others, audaciously stealing the specially-modified Mobile Base Vehicle, but it should be able to prevent unregistered organisms from infiltrating.

"Are you sure?"

Huang Xiulun still hadn't eased his heart.

"I promise!"

Chen Fei reassured him; sneaking into the heavily guarded "Atlantis" wasn't easy for any living creature, nor was leaving.

The theft and escape by Lin Zixian and Ginny triggered the AI "Adam's" early warning instantly. They remained within radar detection range, now about 5 kilometers away from "Atlantis," crawling like a turtle in the blizzard, so there was no urgency to chase them down immediately.

"We have no way to defeat that Divine Breed!"

Huang Xiulun was filled with worry, feeling that the newly established "Skylight" no longer offered any sense of security, as the opposition could wipe them out at any moment.

After all, Chen Fei had previously assessed that ensuring everyone's safety required at least twelve S-Class superpower users' strength. Any combat power below that would mean a one-sided massacre; the only difference would be whether total annihilation happened sooner or later.

Chen Fei casually said, "Now that the bad news is over, let's talk about the good news. I finally got in touch with Blue Star."

Huang Xiulun wasn't the second to know this good news; he was the third, since the second person was standing right behind Chen Fei. For an Earth Element Warrior, overhearing such an intimate conversation was nearly impossible to avoid. S-Class Space Ability User Heseman Brown still wasn't aware, as Chen Fei kept the news about contacting Blue Star confined to a small circle, not spreading across "Atlantis."

Earth Element Warrior Dang Wei Jun seemed to be a man capable of keeping secrets; even though he was informed immediately, he hadn't leaked anything.

"Really? That's fantastic! Did Mr. Brown succeed? What did Blue Star say?"

Huang Xiulun stood up excitedly; his heart felt like it had just experienced a roller coaster.

"It probably has nothing to do with Mr. Brown. It seems related to my Psi Skill, but it's unclear, considering the connection speed is 1 bit per second. Therefore, there hasn't been any feedback from Blue Star for now. They probably haven't grasped the situation,"

Chen Fei shook his forefinger, repeating, 1 bit, 1 bit, since the downlink and uplink were both 1 bit. Uploading reports didn't interfere with his continued reception of information from Blue Star.

It was estimated that at least 24 hours more were needed before the report on the situation on Antalu Star could be sent in full.
