Chapter 32: Chapter 32: Secrets in the Shadows
Satya and Saanvi left the library in silence, the weight of the librarian's warning settling over them like a dark cloud. The man's words were not just a warning—they felt like a veiled threat. Someone, or something, didn't want them to uncover the truth.
"We need to be careful," Saanvi murmured as they stepped onto the quiet streets of Jaipur. The sun had set, and the city was bathed in golden streetlights. "If someone is watching us, we can't make reckless moves."
Satya nodded. "Agreed. But we can't stop now. That journal mentioned Veer being taken under strict orders. The question is—why? What did he know? Or what did he do that was so dangerous?"
Saanvi's mind raced. "Maybe it wasn't just about his art… Maybe it was something—or someone—he was connected to."
The answer was obvious.
Meera.
They both realized it at the same time. If Veer was imprisoned, it had to be because of Meera.
"But that still doesn't explain what happened to her," Saanvi said, frustration creeping into her voice. "Did she escape? Was she taken? Was she…?" She swallowed hard, unable to finish the sentence.
Satya placed a reassuring hand on her shoulder. "We'll find out."
Just then, a faint rustling sound came from a nearby alley. Both of them turned sharply.
"Did you hear that?" Satya whispered.
Saanvi nodded, her breath hitching.
They weren't alone.
Satya took a cautious step toward the alley, but before he could look inside, a gust of wind blew past them, carrying a chilling whisper—almost like someone calling a name.
"Meera…"
Saanvi gasped. "Did you hear that?"
Satya's face was pale. He had heard it too.
A supernatural force had begun to weave itself into their journey, hinting that the past wasn't just a memory—it was still alive in ways they didn't yet understand.
And now, it was reaching out to them.
