Chapter 923: 920: Not Talented
The Chained Firmament
During the week which battles and wars were waged for the ownership of the location of a Chain of Sovereignty, a name was also given to the continent sized landmass in the sky.
The Chained Firmament.
People decided to give it this name for obvious reasons. It was an extremely massive landmass that seemed to have fallen from the heavens. And it was also chained.
So, the Chained Firmament.
Although the number of individuals that has climbed the Chains of Sovereignty was not little, nobody was certain if anybody had reached the Chained Firmament itself.
Although the Universal System had warned that the Chained Firmament was only meant for Tier 6s, how could that deter the brave, confident, arrogant, and foolish?
An example was Jeremy Draker and his friends, along with Pamela, Kiefer, and the rest.
None of them were Tier 6s, but they still chose to explore this unknown land.
The allure of great treasures was too great for those who regarded themselves to be the Chosens of their generation to ignore.
Although the Universal System had warned them, very few would choose to listen.
In front of the Chain of Sovereignty in the Haven Continent were Corey, Pamela, Kiefer, Selene, Willow, Elizabeth Keen, Matias Solomon, Caesar Gray, Jeremy Draker, and the last member of the Hero Party.
The man had a wild fiery red hair that had streaks of black mixed in it, and his crimson eyes continuously burned with restrained bloodlust.
His muscular body was covered with faint scars, and each told stories of battles the man had survived. A jagged scar could be seen across his cheek, adding to his feral appearance.
He wore heavy, fur-lined pauldrons and dark leather armor that splattered faintly with stains of old dried blood. Across his back was a massive greataxe, and at a glance, the handle has signs of brutal use. Bone charms and fangs dangled from his belt, and they were trophies from beasts, monsters, and humans alike.
This man was called The Berserker and true damage dealer of the Hero Party- Rorik Veynar.
"Can we finally go? I had to stop myself from climbing since my senses are telling me that I'll find extremely powerful enemies that would allow me to go wild."
A restless grin could be seen on Rorik Veynar's face as he looked at the Chained Firmament with a savage anticipation of battle and war.
He shifted his weight constantly, like a predator that was unable to stand still. His aura of battle of intent was so sharp it made the weak willed ones around them to take several steps back.
Corey looked around, and his gaze briefly scanned the thousands of individuals that were waiting for all of them to finally climb the Chain of Sovereignty.
They were not the only ones that was going to climb the Chain of Sovereignty, but they were going to be the first.
Jeremy had given out an order that only after twenty four hours was anybody else allowed to climb the Chain of Sovereignty.
As for why he did this?
It was to gain a huge advantage in reaching the Chained Firmament, and to also make sure that nobody ambushed their group while ascending.
However, with both Corey and Pamela present, it would be difficult for this to occur.
But Jeremy did not know this.
"Calm down, you brute. We're waiting for the king's orders." Elizabeth scoffed at Rorik who merely glanced at her before clicking his tongue in annoyance.
He looked at Jeremy. "Can you please give the order for us to finally climb the damned massive chain?"
Jeremy had a slight frown, and did not reply for a few seconds. A pondering and solemn light flashed in his eyes, and then he nodded.
He opened his palm, and then a long red rope appeared.
"Tie this around your waist. It would make sure we don't lose track of one another in case anything happens. And it also has the ability to share whatever pain or pressure we face equally amongst all of us."
Jeremy handed the rope to Caesar who tied it around his waist, and then he passed it to the impatient Rorik.
Rorik clicked his tongue in frustration and annoyances, and with a reluctant expression, he tied the rope around his waist.
He passed the rope to Elizabeth, and she passed it to Matias, who then passed it to Pamela.
Pamela did not tie it around her waist immediately. Instead, she turned it and observed it with interest before looking at Jeremy with a smile.
"You didn't mention the fact that it also takes a percentage of each person powers and shares it equally."
Everybody including Jeremy raised their brows. Jeremy looked at the rope, and muttered underneath his breath.
"So that's what the hidden function was."
He looked at Pamela. "I didn't know about that."
Pamela shrugged. "I'm not surprised. In fact, I'll be surprised if you did."
She tied the rope around her waist with a smile, and then she gave it to Selene, who tied it, and then gave it to her mother, Willow. She did the same, and then she gave it to Kiefer, who tied it around his waist and gave it to Corey.
Corey glanced at the rope with a slight furrow of his brows, and then he looked at Kiefer who was looking at him with a gaze of anticipation.
Corey exhaled softly, and then he took the rope and tied it around his waist.
'I want to go on my own, but Kiefer and Selene are my servants, and I've not been taking good care of them.'
'I tried to teach them a few things after meeting them. But it's barely been a week. I should watch after them while we climb and make sure that they don't die.'
'Or I can give them to Pamela to protect them.'
Corey's eyes flashed with dangerous glint as he looked at Pamela. Pamela noticed his gaze, and she smiled at him.
She approached him and stood by his right.
"I'm surprised you chose to wear the rope. I thought you'd want to climb the Chain of Sovereignty on your own."
Corey nonchalantly shrugged. "I guess I had a change of heart."
Pamela gave a short chuckle. "I guess this is the second time you've surprised me today."
Corey looked at her with a raised brow. "What's the first?"
"When you chose to train Jeremy... I didn't know you had it in you to train somebody like... him."
Pamela whispered her last words in his ear, and Corey frowned slightly.
He looked at Pamela, and Pamela nonchalantly shrugged before walking away.
He didn't need to ask her what she meant by her words because he already knew.
Jeremy Draker was not talented. And for a hero, this was shocking.
