Chapter 755: 753: Speechless
If there was one thing Corey never expected to hear when he asked Prince Zakar'el to tell him about the Letherions, it was that he had a connection to the unknown race.
He expected to hear a lot of things, but having a connection with the Letherions was completely out of his expectations.
Also, the fact that Rhea was a Guardian and Keeper of the spirits and souls of the Letherions was shocking to him.
'I have always wondered what your origins were because even Nina had no idea what your origins were... But to think you were related to this race.'
'Now that I think about it... Even the Paragon Ancestor once said that he was curious about Rhea and the skill- Full Counter... Even he was curious about the origins of these two things.'
'Everything seems to be a coincidence to the point that it's creepy... Could it be fate or is this my destiny?'
'Or is there another reason to all of this?'
He glanced at Rhea who was sleeping soundly on his right shoulder. He rubbed her head softly, and a worried light flashed in his eyes.
"What do you mean by she's a guardian and keeper of the souls and spirits of your people?"
"It's exactly what I mean... But let me be more specific... A Spirit Devouring Bird is the Guardian and Keeper of our spirits and souls, and... it's also seen as a symbol of the Royal family... especially the king."
"Huh? You mean?
Corey's eyes widened and the Prince nodded.
"A Spirit Devouring Bird is usually with the King, and if you eventually find my people and they see your Spirit Devouring Bird... you might either be supported by my people or you may face the envy of some of my people."
"Hopefully, you are supported by them."
Corey furrowed his brows with numerous thoughts and questions in his mind.
"So... Does that mean that if I meet with your people... the Letherions... Some would support me to be their king because of her?"
"No."
Prince Zakar'el shook his head.
"You obviously won't be supported to be the king just because you have a Spirit Devouring Bird with you... Although... If you have my heart and become..."
"Well... I don't know what you'll become if you fuse with my heart since your current bloodline is on par or maybe even above my race's bloodline."
"If it were weaker... My bloodline would have erased the weaker bloodline..."
"Luckily it's not, since I'm extremely curious as to what you'll become if you fuse with my heart and obtain my bloodline."
Corey glanced at the beating heart beside Prince Zakar'el, and a pondering light flashed in his eyes.
"By the way, since you're here... I can help you to safely awaken the dormant memories that are in her bloodline... You should get a pretty interesting and good surprise if I do that for you."
Corey narrowed his gaze in suspicion but he didn't outrightly reject the Prince's assistance.
He looked at Rhea for some seconds with a pondering expression before looking back at the Prince.
"I'll think about it. Tell me more about your race."
"What do you want to know about our race?" Prince Zakar'el tilted his head slightly.
"What happened to your race and what exactly are your abilities?"
Prince Zakar'el tilted his head slightly once again, "Hmm... I thought I already told you that my race deals with memories?"
"I want to know more. I want to know what exactly your race could do." Corey replied indifferently, and the throne room became silent.
"Well, aren't you the curious and greedy one."
The Prince scoffed, and Corey said nothing in reply.
"Well... For example, you can make a swordsman forget how to swing his sword with just a glance. You can make a caster forget how to chant with just a glance... People around you would passively forget why they were fighting you."
"And once you reach that is somewhat comparable to my father... You can even make gods, the Old Ones, Sages, Immortals, and Devils to forget how to use their powers."
"My power... Can turn any of these beings to mortals with just a glance because I can not only make them forget how to use their powers, I can also make their powers to forget that they belong to them."
"There are a lot more abilities we can use, but these abilities made us feared amongst the upper echelons of reality."
Corey remained silent without a change in his expression despite hearing the words of the Prince, and this irked the Prince.
"Why are you silent?"
"You've not answered my second question... What happened to your race?"
Prince Zakar'el remained silent for some seconds, and when he spoke, Corey felt a strange and powerful pressure engulf him and the throne room.
"I happened to my people."
Corey furrowed his brows as he struggled against the pressure of Prince Zakar'el.
His eyes bulged along with veins protruding all over his body. His knees almost buckled, but he withstood it with all he had.
The most dangerous and difficult part of Prince Zakar'el's aura was the fact that it affected Corey's mind by a great amount.
Corey could barely stay conscious under the Prince's aura.
Just as Corey was about to counterattack in any way possible, the aura vanished and Corey released an extremely deep breath.
"Sorry about that. I lost control of myself for a moment."
The Prince apologized but Corey said nothing in response and just stared at the Prince with a wary gaze.
"Sigh."
The Prince released a frustrated sigh, but he didn't bother apologizing again, and just continued speaking.
"I indirectly caused the nigh-extinction of my people."
Corey frowned, "How?"
"My potential was higher than my father, and... I had the potential to not only make gods become mortals, I had the ability to make mana and several types of energies to forget their functions and abilities."
"..." Corey was speechless.
