Chapter 479: 478: Crap
As the crimson vines of Aethara's Imperium attacked him, Corey slowed down, and with his left hand holding Selene's body on his back, he stretched out his right hand and his axe flew into his hand.
The instant he grabbed his axe, two of the ancient runes on the axe lit up, and then the blades of the axe lit up with different colors along with an azure, silver, and violet flame that blazed with a gentle intensity.
The crimson vines approached Corey at an extremely fast speed, and the blades of his axe flew.
Division Rune
Each blade was split into two parts, and four mini blades were formed. The four mini-blades moved at an extremely fast speed, and then they met the crimson vines.
The instant the mini-blades met with the crimson vines, they cut apart the crimson vines, and Corey dashed past the crimson vines with a cold expression.
An azure, silver, and violet flame remained on the crimson vines that were cut apart, and the vines struggled to regrow themselves, but they were visibly struggling.
As Corey ran, the four mini blades followed him and cut apart any crimson vines that attacked him.
Although Corey had the four mini-blades around him to cut apart the crimson vines that attacked him, they could not cut all of them. There were simply too many, and Corey had to dodge while also cutting any crimson vine that came his way.
Although it seemed like the situation was not bad, Corey knew just how difficult it was for him to do all that he was doing.
First of all, the four mini-blades were formed as a result of the Division Rune of his Genesis Armament.
The Division Rune allowed Corey to send out the two blades of his axe which could then split into six parts at most. The blades were not multiplying, no, they were just splitting apart into fragments of themselves.
Although it might seem like the ability was useless and weak, it was not.
The ability was mainly meant for huge monsters not for humanoid beings. The mini-blades were like large bullets. Also, each mini-blade was extremely durable, fast and sharp.
Corey could control the mini-blades with his mind, and if not for his stars of consciousness, he would not be able to control the mini-blades to such a frightening degree because of all that he was doing at the same time.
Corey was not only controlling the mini-blades of his Genesis Armament, he was also using his Eyes of Omniscience to find the weak points of the vines and everything around him.
His Eyes of Omniscience had the ability to see through things, even the bodies of living and non-living things. If he wanted, he could see the skeletal, nervous, and mana pathways or energy pathways of any being that was tier 5 and below.
However, this came at a huge risk to him.
Seeing the internal structure of Mystical Beings, even Tier 4s, was extremely difficult for Corey even with all the abilities and uniqueness he possessed.
The internal structure of Mystical Beings was extremely complex and protected, and anytime Corey tried to peer into the internal structure of even a Tier 4, he was always at risk of losing his sight for a period of time.
Also, the pain and load on his main consciousness would be high whenever he looked at the internal structure of mystical beings.
Peering into the internal structure of Tier 5s, Tier 6s, or beings that were similar to Tier 5s and Tier 6s, like Aethara and the Capra King, causes the rate at which his eyes got destroyed to drastically increase.
Apart from this, the pain and load on his main consciousness would be extremely high. The deeper he tried to peer into the internal structure of mystical beings, the greater the rate at which he lost his sight.
However, as long as he stopped before it reached a point of no return, his eyes would slowly heal before going back to normal.
What Corey did not know was that the only reason why his eyes recovered after trying to peer into the internal structure of mystical beings was because of his Tri-Pupil Eyes of the Paragons.
One of the abilities of the Tri-Pupil Eyes was an ability called The Eye of Immortality.
The Eye of Immortality made the Tri-Pupil Eyes indestructible. No matter what happened, a Tri-Pupil Eyes could not go permanently blind, and even if it was destroyed, it would reform itself after a certain period of time.
Assuming Corey did not have the Tri-Pupil Eyes, he would have permanently lost his sight after trying to peer into the internal composition of Mystical Beings.
Fortunately for Corey, he had the Tri-Pupil Eyes, and he could peer into Aethara's Imperium, crimson vines, the Tree of Rot, and Aethara herself.
With his Eyes of Omniscience active, Corey was able to find the weak spots on each crimson vine that attacked him. This was why he was able to easily cut the crimson vines with the mini-blades.
If not for this, the blades would have shattered despite the enhancements he gave it with his skills.
The crimson vines were so powerful to the point that they could even smash an average Tier 4 to a pulp if he or she was not careful. The crimson vines were just that powerful.
Despite manipulating the mini-blades, running, dodging, and attacking the crimson vines himself, Corey was also performing other things.
For example, he was still healing Selene despite all of these, and because of this, her condition had gotten slightly better.
Corey slashed a crimson vine that had attacked him from the side, and his pure white eyes were rapidly moving from one side to another with blood pouring down from his eyes.
'Only six seconds and I'm feeling like this.'
Corey solemnly thought without a change in his expression.
It seemed like he had been fighting and dodging for a very long time, however, only six seconds had gone by, and Aethara remained in the air with her indifferent gaze easily following Corey's movement.
Eight vines attacked Corey, and the four mini-blades moved toward two vines. He needed to use two mini-blades to cut apart a single vine now, and Corey frowned when he noticed this.
'They're getting tougher to cut.'
Corey slashed at two vines that were attacking him from his left and right-hand side. A vine attacked him, and Corey performed a Super Jump using the hexagon barriers beneath his feet as a foothold.
While he was in the air, two attacked him. One attacked him from the front, while the other attacked him from behind, fully intending to pierce through Selene to get to him.
However, Corey swung his axe and cut apart the two vines, his axe cutting apart the weak point on each vine.
The last two attacked him, and Corey created a wall of hexagon barriers to his left and right-hand side, and then he jumped from one wall of hexagon barrier to the other, completely dodging the vines in an inhuman manner.
A completely different vine appeared out of nowhere, and Corey spun in the air, dodged it, and ran on it.
As Corey ran on it, his eyes suddenly widened and he staggered and almost fell, but he quickly created a platform of hexagon barriers beneath his feet to balance himself.
His pure white eyes looked down at the vine he was previously standing on. The vine suddenly shrunk, and Corey lost his foothold because of that.
As he stood in the air with Selene on his back, the sky suddenly rumbled and then a red light flashed in it.
Corey snapped his head upward, and he could not help but curse inwardly.
'Crap.'
