Chapter 31: Hidden Dungeon Boss
Only after watching their brothers for some time being massacred by that human did the other Cave Rats regained their right mind. They immediately chased away their fear as they furiously rushed towards Sakim trying to avenge their brothers that were just killed mercilessly in the battle.
But unfortunately for them, those who came first only ended up being greeted by death. The moment the other party's hand touched them, they could only suffer the same fate as their brothers.
They couldn't swarm the other party anymore as well seeing that most of them were already low in spirit and hesitant to attack. While for the other Cave Rats, anger was the only driving force they had. And it only resulted in them in their early death.
At least they died fighting. Unlike those other rats that couldn't even take a step forward anymore as their shaking body refused to do so. And this only made their enemy have an easier time dealing with them.
So after a good while, the last cry of the Cave Rats finally faded. And with this, Sakim, who was now covered in sweat, heaved a sigh of relief before he wiped away the sweats on his forehead with the back of his hand.
From that later part of the battle, he had only used two [Healing Leaves] after receiving some damage from those Cave Rats that retaliated.
Sakim looked onto his Inventory as his smile had just appeared on its own. Right now, his [Cave Rat HP] had shot up in numbers once again. There were 207 of this item now. Since he got 48 of them when he used his skill Go Die, it looked like he killed 159 Cave Rats this time.
As a result, he finally leveled up again in that battle. And nothing was more delighting than this.
So recalling his free stat points, he immediately invested these 6 free stat points into his Vitality stat.
Vitality: 54 (+12)
With that, his maximum HP had immediately shot up again reaching eight thousand plus. This result really was satisfying. Sakim could only let out a smile.
But that was not the only thing that made Sakim delighted. For the first time ever, Sakim finally found an item that dropped from the normal monsters.
When he killed the last Cave Rat, and when it turned into ashes, an item covered in white light suddenly dropped on the ground. Sakim quickly picked it afraid that it would suddenly disappear.
But when finally got to see the stats of the item, his excitement had immediately turned into dismay.
What he got was another ring. But compared to his [Ring Of Immortality] of which it was a Legend Rank, this item he just got was a complete trash. It was a Common Rank!
[Bronze Ring]
Level: 1
Attack: +25
Mana: +200
Sakim couldn't help but take a sigh of disappointment. He finally got an item, but who would have thought that it wasn't that useful compared to his [Ring of Immortaly]. This [Bronze Ring] only had two attributes added. If he converted it into stat points, this would only equal to 2.5 Strength stat and then 2 Intelligence stat. That said, this item could only give him a little improvement.
Even so, Sakim had still worn it on the forefinger of his other hand where his [Ring Of Immortality] wasn't being worn. He couldn't even feel the changes in his strength when he wore it as he could only sigh again deeply. It appeared that his luck this time wasn't good.
But then, he was still lamenting why did he get a trashy item when suddenly, the ground trembled. Sakim was alarmed as only then did he recalled about the boss.
It seemed like the boss was now about to show up!
With that in mind, Sakim dismissed the System. He focused his attention in front of him of where the middle of the chamber was.
There was a circular stone platform in there that was raised one or two inches on the ground surface. Its size was about 10 meters radius. And Sakim just happened to be outside of its perimeter.
After a moment of careful observation, a black mist had suddenly started to form at the center of the platform. Sakim couldn't help but narrow his eyes while watching the occurrence as he anticipated what kind of monster boss was going to appear.
The plan of stealing the barrier was now being forgotten as a new intention entered Sakim's mind. He was just hoping that maybe this time, if he killed this boss monster, he would receive some better equipment or other kinds of bountiful rewards.
So then, the black mist started to shape into a monster. And as Sakim had expected, it was a rat-type one.
Roar!
The moment it showed up, it immediately let out a thunderous roar as if it had just been freed from its cage. Killing intent was being released trying to suppress Sakim's movements.
That boss rat had a brawny body and dark furs, and it was thrice as big as Sakim. It stood in two feet and had sharp claws on both hands and feet. But its one big eye was way sharper seemingly looking only for destruction.
On its right hand was a huge double edge ax that could be taller than the wielder. It was hanged on its right shoulder as its gaze finally landed on Sakim as if it was looking into an ant.
[The Hidden Dungeon Boss Appeared!]
Sakim was still astonished by the appearance of the boss monster when the System suddenly appeared bringing him a new notification.
And when Sakim saw it, the pupil of his eyes had narrowed slightly similar to that of a cat. Without knowing it, a mouthful of saliva slid down on his throat as he even began to sweat.
"This is crazy..." Sakim couldn't help but mutter when he saw the stats of the boss monster written in purple that was being displayed on the System.
[Wrathful Rat]
Rank: Magic
Level: 6
HP: 10,000 | 10,000
Ten thousand HP! Sakim rubbed his eyes to see if he saw it wrong but the amount of HP of the boss monster was just still the same. What the heck was this? Was this for real? Sakim was truly shocked this time. Only level 6 and the HP of this boss monster was this astonishing?
If he remembered it correctly, the Hidden Boss - Devil Tree he encountered before had only 7,500 HP. And that was already level 15. But this boss he was currently facing had a bigger HP even though it was just lower in level by many times? Was the System broken?
Nonetheless, knowing that this would be a tough battle, Sakim hurriedly dismissed the System and intended to focus his attention on his opponent. But to his horror, just after the System faded in front of him, what obstructed his view was a huge ax that was about to land on him.
"What the heck..." This monster boss was really fierce! To think that in the short moment of looking at the boss' status, this boss monster would actually make a move against him without warning. This really made Sakim be frightened a bit as he reflexively jumped back hoping to dodge the incoming onslaught.
But even though he tried his best, his low stats was just limiting the outcome he wanted to be. With his low Agility stat, his movement was a little too slow as the attack of the other party still managed to hit him. That being said, the very edge of the ax cut his chest down to his belly before the ax finally landed on the ground. And when it landed, it formed a small crater and strong shockwave that pushed Sakim away.
After what had happened, Sakim rolled furiously on the ground before his back bumped on the very side of the chamber. Right after that, he spurted a mouthful of blood as he could even feel the pain now unlike when he got wounded just before.
"What the hell is this..." Sakim cursed in his heart. Was this boss monster really level 6? How could this boss monster wield such a terrifying attack?
