Chapter 6: The Masked Stranger
Episode 6
12:42 AM – Rooftop of Crescent Hall
The moon hung low, blood-orange in the sky. The cityscape shimmered under its glow, but Ethan's gaze wasn't on the skyline.
It was on the man in the mask.
He stood on the rooftop across from Ethan's dorm—tall, broad-shouldered, wearing a dark trench coat that moved like smoke. A porcelain-white mask covered his face, etched with crimson lines that pulsed faintly, like veins alive with power.
He didn't speak. Didn't move.
He just watched.
> [System Alert: Unidentified Entity Detected]
Name: Unknown
System Affiliation: NONE
Threat Level: ???

Ethan's instincts screamed danger.
"Who are you?" he whispered, more to himself than the figure.
> [Skill Unavailable – Emotional Read Blocked]
[Lust Aura: Ineffective]
[Sin Perception: Suppressed]
[Warning: External force interfering with SinBound system functions]
The system was faltering.
And that had never happened before.
Suddenly, the masked stranger tilted his head slightly, as if amused.
Then, a sound—quiet, like wind chimes in a funeral home—rippled through the air.
And he vanished.
No dramatic flair. No teleport flash.
Just… gone.
Ethan's fists clenched.
> [New Quest Chain Triggered: Eyes Beyond the Game]
Objective: Investigate the identity of the masked observer
Reward: Unknown
Warning: This quest lies outside system jurisdiction. Proceed with caution.

9:23 AM – Psychology Building, Room 304
Professor Hawthorne's lecture on human intimacy and evolutionary triggers droned on, but Ethan wasn't listening. He was watching Mira Dusk.
She sat two rows ahead of him, her usual black attire subdued, a leather choker around her neck with a tiny silver crescent moon pendant. She tapped her pen against her notebook, eyes unfocused.
> [SinLink Active – Mira Dusk]
Arousal Level: 21% (Triggered by Dream Residue)
Mood: Distracted. Curious. Submissive urges rising.
She looked back. Met his gaze.
Didn't smile.
Didn't look away.
That stare—quiet defiance mixed with unspoken hunger—hit him like fire.
Then a message blinked across his vision.
> [System Error: Data Leak Detected – Source: Mira Dusk]
[System Correction In Progress… Failed]
[Warning: Target's mind is not fully compatible with SinBound framework.]
"What the hell is going on with you…" Ethan muttered under his breath.

10:45 AM – Student Union Café
Later, Ethan found himself face-to-face with a familiar voice he hadn't expected today.
"Still brooding like a sexy vampire?"
He turned. Amber Lin, the fiery redhead from earlier missions, slid into the seat across from him.
Short denim jacket, cropped black tank, and those confident eyes that made half the campus fall at her feet.
"Don't tell me you're stalking me now," Ethan smirked.
She chuckled. "Please. You wish. I got summoned by the system."
> [System Alert: Companion Sub-Path Activated – Amber Lin]
Role: Support (Charm & Distraction)
Affinity: 81%
Status: Aware of Sin System (Level 1 Clearance)
"Wait. You know?"
Amber grinned. "Don't look so surprised. You're not the only one with a fucked-up app in your head."
Ethan narrowed his eyes. "You have a system?"
Amber leaned in, whispering, "Let's just say mine is... experimental. Less seduction, more destruction. But sometimes the two overlap."
He blinked. She wasn't lying.
> [Caution: System Affiliation Detected – Hybrid Protocol: 'WrathEngine']
Compatibility: Unknown. Do not engage in hostile actions.
So she was part of something bigger too.
Amber winked. "Word of advice, Ethan Cross—whatever you did to Mira Dusk? Be careful. There are things in her mind that bite back."
Then she stood. "Next time we meet, maybe I'll show you what real temptation looks like."
She left without another word.
> [New Data Added: Amber Lin – Hybrid System User]
Optional Quest: "The Fire That Burns" – Unlock Amber's true allegiance.
Ethan felt the ground beneath him shift.
What the hell was going on?

1:15 PM – Mira's Dormitory, Floor 2
Ethan knocked.
No answer.
Then, just as he was about to walk away—
The door creaked open.
Mira stood there, barefoot, hair wet from a shower, oversized black T-shirt barely reaching her thighs.
Her eyes narrowed. "You were in my dream."
He didn't flinch. "You wanted me there."
"That wasn't a fantasy," she whispered. "It was a memory I hadn't lived yet."
Ethan stepped inside.
"Explain," he said.
Mira turned slowly and walked back into her room, leaving the door open. He followed.
Dark curtains. Candles. A row of strange symbols drawn across the window sill. Her mirror was covered in velvet cloth.
"I dream vividly," she murmured. "Always have. But last night… it was lucid. Real. You touched something in me. Something sealed."
Ethan stayed silent.
Then she pulled something from beneath her pillow.
A small obsidian shard—engraved with glowing red runes.
"Ever seen this before?" she asked.
> [System Alert: Forbidden Artifact Detected – Origin: Eldrath Relic]
Effect: Memory binding. Anti-system encryption. Veil disruptor.
Status: Highly dangerous. Ethereal resonance matching… MASKED ENTITY.]
Ethan's breath hitched.
Mira's voice trembled. "I found it three weeks ago. In the ruins near Black Hollow Trail. Since then… I've been changing. Something inside me whispers. Not words. Feelings. Desires. Madness."
She looked at him, eyes rimmed with desperation.
"Am I going insane?"
Ethan stepped closer.
"No," he said softly. "You're waking up."

3:00 PM – Back in Ethan's Room

The only way to stabilize her...
Was to seduce her completely.
Mind. Body. Soul.
But Ethan wasn't sure anymore—if she was his mission.
Or if he was hers.
He looked out the window, eyes narrowing.
And there it was again.
The masked stranger.
On the rooftop.
Not watching this time.
Waiting.
