Chapter 169: Chapter 103.3: Reverse Bounties and Cruel Punishment
Wano Country.
With substantial manpower and resources, the fortress atop the waterfall was rapidly constructed. As a crucial gateway safeguarding Wano, it was highly prioritized.
Although called a fortress, its architectural style followed the traditions of the Flower Capital—a towering nine-story pavilion.
Chu Yang named it "Feiliu Pavilion"!
Most of the Sun Pirates crew lived on the lower three floors of the pavilion, close to their pirate ship docked at the port. This proximity ensured they could immediately enter combat mode if trouble arose.
Tiger, Jinbe, and Arlong resided in the middle floors, as Chu Yang discovered that the Fish-Men seemed to dislike high places.
Chu Yang alone occupied the topmost floor.
Leaning on the railing and gazing at the distant sea of clouds often gave him a feeling of boundless perspective, which he thoroughly enjoyed.
Another advantage was that, with his sharp vision and Haki, standing at such a height allowed him to spot enemies faster than the surveillance devices.
The secret path in the rear mountains had been destroyed by Chu Yang, forcing anyone from outside to use the main route.
"Looks like we have visitors…"
Chu Yang was still wondering how much longer it would take for King to return when a shadow appeared in the sky—a massive Pteranodon clad in black leather.
The sight was almost comical at first glance.
Chu Yang's lips curled upward.
King circled Wano, noticing the grand pavilion erected atop the waterfall and the once-dense weapon factories now desolate.
The mountains and rivers had regained vitality, the skies and rivers were strikingly clear.
Everything indicated that the Beasts Pirates were history.
King couldn't accept or believe it.
He flew to the rear mountain, attempting to enter through the secret passage. When no one activated the mechanism for him, he resorted to brute force to break through.
However, he discovered that the path had been completely sealed off, making it impassable.
Kaido would never have sealed this passage.
The answer was clear—
The victor wasn't Kaido!
King's immense grief and anger nearly drove him mad. Restraining himself from assuming the worst, he immediately flew from the rear mountains back to the waterfall front to regroup with Big Mom's forces.
"How's it? Could your secret passage be used?"
Doflamingo sauntered over to King with a smug, mocking expression, hoping to see through King's mask to his expression.
King shook his head slowly. "The passage is sealed; we can only ascend from here."
Doflamingo looked up at the waterfall. "It seems only we can make it up there. Others…"
Before King could respond, a voice interrupted from the side.
"Use fish." The newcomer was a tall man wearing a pale yellow coat, a candy-shaped hat, and holding a candy cane.
This was Charlotte Perospero, the eldest son of Big Mom and the Minister of Candy on Whole Cake Island.
Perospero pointed to their pirate ship, where several carp were tethered at the Queen Mama Chanter's bow.
Doflamingo, who had come alone, was content to watch the show from the sidelines, intending to contribute as little as possible.
The fleet, pulled by the giant fish, began climbing the waterfall.
King transformed into his Pteranodon form once again, flying to the top of the waterfall to clear the way for the others.
He understood all too well the consequences of being ambushed during this process.
The pavilion towering atop the waterfall seemed increasingly displeasing to King.
The Sun Pirates detected the intruders through surveillance and immediately entered combat mode.
Tiger stepped onto the deck and shouted, "The enemies are strong, but we cannot retreat. We must stop them from landing on the island—reinforcements will arrive soon!"
Having recently defeated the Beasts Pirates, coupled with their home advantage at sea, the crew displayed immense confidence.
"They're using the same method to land as us! A foolish choice—we'll show them why the Fish-Men are called the Fish-Men."
After his rousing speech, Tiger ordered the ship to position itself, aiming its cannons at the waterfall.
The Fish-Men didn't limit their combat style to the ship; as previously mentioned, the sea was their domain. Most of them leaped into the water.
"Remember, control the fish first. Without them, their ships will lose balance and fall off!"
Jinbe led his companions underwater, slowly approaching the waterfall cliff.
"Tiger, there's something in the sky…"
"Is that… a big black bird?"
"No, it's a Pteranodon! And it's heading for Feiliu Pavilion!"
"Don't worry, Yang is up there!"
Tiger pulled out his telescope, placing it on his nose bridge. Looking up, he saw the Pteranodon streak overhead. Clad in black leather, it was undoubtedly a Devil Fruit user.
"It's King the Wildfire, Kaido's subordinate!"
Tiger took a deep breath and shook his head. "Ignore him. Our job is to knock all enemies climbing the waterfall down. Leave the rest to Yang!"
Meanwhile, upon reaching the top of the pavilion, King noticed a lone figure standing there.
The figure smiled at him, as though waiting for a long time.
"Took you long enough. I thought you'd abandoned your captain—or is the world outside so big that you got lost?"
Chu Yang yawned nonchalantly.
King stared at Chu Yang, a strong premonition forming in his heart. This person was undoubtedly connected to Kaido's fate.
"Where's Kaido?"
King suppressed his fury and asked coldly.
"Dead."
Chu Yang replied indifferently.
"Impossible! I'll ask you again—where is Kaido?"
King refused to accept the answer, teetering on the edge of rage and ready to strike at any moment.
"Are you naïve, or just in denial?"
"Since I'm standing here, Kaido's death is inevitable. Such a simple truth—how many times must I repeat it?"
Chu Yang shook his head in slight disappointment.
Kaido's life-and-death status remained uncertain, and Chu Yang's calm demeanor pushed King to his breaking point. Like a fighter jet, King soared into the skies, gaining altitude rapidly before diving toward Chu Yang at the top of the pavilion.
Chu Yang stepped on the railing and shot upward!
His entire figure turned into a white streak that surged toward King, ascending even faster than King's descent.
King's pupils contracted slightly, but he didn't think of dodging. As a Zoan Devil Fruit user, how could he lose in physical combat to an ordinary human?
King's body ignited with raging flames, a natural ability of the Lunarian race, unrelated to his Devil Fruit powers.
"Imperial Firestorm!"
King unfurled his wings and charged with flaming wings to collide with the high-speed ascending Chu Yang.
At the same time, Chu Yang's entire body burst with crackling lightning, entering the Lightning Release Armor state.
He bent his arm at a ninety-degree angle, resembling a sharp scythe.
When the black wings clashed with his arm, sparks flew fiercely, and Chu Yang's lightning suppressed the flames on King's body.
King even caught the scent of scorching flesh coming from his wings.
Crack!
The sound of bone fracturing echoed.
King groaned in pain, his eyes filled with disbelief.
How could this man's body be so tough?
Stronger than a Zoan ability user?
Shocked and furious, King realized his physical strength wasn't enough. He decisively abandoned his Pteranodon form and shifted into his hybrid form.
In this state, his arms merged with his wings, transforming into massive black wings. With a swing of his arms, he unleashed dozens of powerful wind blades.
Seeing the incoming wind blades, Chu Yang didn't dodge. When they struck his body, it was as if raindrops fell on eaves—ticking softly without leaving a single mark.
"Get down!"
Chu Yang flashed to the top of King's head and stomped heavily on his forehead.
The violent impact sent King into unconsciousness, his vision blacking out as he plummeted from the sky.
"Why is King falling from the sky?" The crew aboard the Queen Mama Chanter were dumbfounded.
Charlotte Linlin, who didn't yet appear excessively obese, frowned and said, "Could it be that someone knocked him down?"
Doflamingo, ever eager for chaos, loudly mocked, "Getting beaten up on your own turf? That's quite embarrassing, King."
Perospero gave a sinister warning, "Mocking an ally isn't a good habit, Doflamingo."
Doflamingo sneered, "Do you have a problem with that?"
The tension between the two flared, the atmosphere turning hostile.
"Enough. Don't let the enemy laugh at us. Remember, you're here to help, right, Doflamingo?" Charlotte Linlin's expression turned sharp as she reminded him to behave.
"Of course, the Beasts Pirates are my closest partners!" Doflamingo softened his stance, retreating appropriately.
However, in his heart, he made a mental note, planning to settle the score at a later time.
While disputes arose on the ship, no one noticed the giant fish pulling the ship starting to subtly change direction.
The truth was, the Fish-Men had already infiltrated the fleet. Using their innate ability to communicate with sea creatures, they manipulated the giant fish to disrupt the fleet's course. Before long, several pirate ships collided with one another.
It wasn't until the Queen Mama Chanter began spinning wildly that Charlotte Linlin realized something was wrong with the giant fish below.
"Be careful! There's something strange under the ships!"
Charlotte Linlin promptly summoned Zeus to lift her into the air.
As a Soul-Soul Fruit user, she could grant souls to anything, creating unique sentient beings she called "Homies."
Zeus was a thundercloud imbued with a soul, while others included Prometheus, a sentient flame; and Napoleon, a living double-horned hat.
These special Homies possessed immense power, giving Charlotte Linlin a significant advantage in battle.
Zeus carried Charlotte Linlin into the sky. In the next moment, the Queen Mama Chanter violently collided with another pirate ship.
The impact threw many crew members overboard, and seawater rushed into the damaged ship's cabin.
Doflamingo, unaffected, used his strings to anchor himself to the cliffs on either side of the waterfall, creating steps in mid-air to walk safely above the chaos.
The sudden rampage of the giant fish caused nearly half the pirate ships in the fleet to plunge from the waterfall, while the remaining ships struggled to hold on.
Realizing the fleet was on the brink of collapse, Charlotte Linlin acted decisively. She infused her soul into the waterfall itself.
A human face appeared on the waterfall.
Charlotte Linlin shouted, "Take us up!"
"Yes, Mama," the waterfall face responded.
The water surged upward, carrying the pirate ships back up the waterfall.
