Chapter 165: Chapter 102.2: Target, Wano Country! Chu Yang vs. Kaido!

After learning about Chu Yang's past, Dragon welcomed his decision to join. This was an unprecedented boost to the Revolutionary Army's combat strength.

The top brass of the Revolutionary Army, led by Dragon, became visibly excited.

Seizing the opportunity, Chu Yang made a suggestion. He candidly said, "I took a look around on my way here. To be honest, Baltigo is not an ideal choice for a base of operations."

"The harsh natural environment here does help to conceal the base, but if it's discovered, defending it would be very difficult."

"The island of white soil is barren, offering no natural barriers for defense. It's an easily attackable location that's hard to protect."

"This means members must act with extreme caution to ensure this place isn't discovered, which greatly complicates the Revolutionary Army's operations."

Dragon didn't refute Chu Yang's opinion. On the contrary, he shared the same view. However, the reality was that the Revolutionary Army had no better options than Baltigo.

"We understand what you're saying. From the inception of the Revolutionary Army, members have raised similar objections. But the World Government's intelligence capabilities are formidable, leaving us with no choice but to settle here."

Ivankov added gravely, "The World Government has two secret espionage organizations, CP9 and CP0. We've encountered them in liberation wars. They're particularly adept at intelligence gathering and assassination."

Tapping his finger on the conference table, Chu Yang emphasized again, "That's why I say this place isn't suitable as a base. Having such concerns will only hinder our operations."

Noticing something in Chu Yang's tone, Dragon smirked. "From the way you're talking, it seems you've already found a suitable base for the Revolutionary Army?"

Everyone in the room looked at Chu Yang in astonishment.

Speaking to intelligent people is always easier; they immediately understood his intent. Chu Yang nodded decisively and uttered a location.

"Wano Country."

Due to its unique terrain, outsiders find it difficult to enter Wano Country, let alone invade on a large scale. It's a perfect base of operations.

The only issue is that they'd have to defeat Kaido, who currently occupies Wano Country.

Dragon frowned. Clearly, he knew a bit about Wano Country and was weighing the pros and cons of taking action.

"There are weapon factories there, with trading partners involving the World Government, pirates, underground dark forces, and some major nations."

"If we capture Wano Country, we can not only strengthen our forces but also deliver a heavy blow to the World Government."

Upon hearing this, Dragon's eyes lit up!

At this point in time, the Beasts Pirates weren't the massive force they'd become a decade later, and Kaido wasn't so strong that Dragon would shy away from him.

The weapon factories in Wano Country represented enough of an opportunity to justify the Revolutionary Army taking a gamble for its future.

More importantly, this plan had the support of Chu Yang and the Sun Pirates!

If they could seize Wano Country, the Revolutionary Army would gain a perfect base, making them stronger than ever.

Dragon felt he had no reason to refuse!

However, before taking action, he needed to verify the intelligence. Even though he trusted Chu Yang, he couldn't make a rash decision.

"In the near future, I'll send people to Wano Country to scout the situation. Once we have more detailed intelligence, I'll decide whether to proceed with the plan."

Dragon's words caused quite a stir in the conference room. Ivankov looked serious, knowing that Dragon's statement was essentially an agreement.

"For now, I'll head back. Mr. Tiger is waiting for results. If you make a decision, you can send Haku to contact us," said Jinbei as he handed Dragon his Vivre Card.

Dragon accepted the card and, to show sincerity in the alliance, prepared to exchange his Vivre Card. But Ivankov suddenly interjected, "It'd be better if you used my Vivre Card instead."

Dragon frowned. "That's unnecessary. I trust Jinbei and Mr. Tiger. Besides, they're Haku's kinsmen!"

In a rare display of stubbornness, Ivankov retorted, "You're the leader of the Revolutionary Army, our beacon of hope. We can't be too cautious. I trust Jinbei, but what if something unexpected happens?"

"If your Vivre Card falls into the hands of the World Government, it would be catastrophic for us!"

As Dragon and Ivankov argued, Chu Yang interrupted, "Why not have Mr. Haku and Jinbei exchange Vivre Cards instead? That seems more meaningful."

Haku nodded with a smile. "After so many years of friendship, I've yet to have Jinbei's Vivre Card. It's about time."

Jinbei laughed heartily.

Realizing the potential carelessness of handing over his own Vivre Card, Dragon went along with Chu Yang's suggestion.

With their goal achieved, Chu Yang and Jinbei stayed the night in Baltigo before leaving the next morning.

No sooner had they departed than Dragon dispatched a team to Wano Country.

Returning to the Sun Pirates, Chu Yang and Jinbei relayed the details of the alliance to Tiger.

Hearing that Chu Yang and Dragon had set their sights on Wano Country, Tiger was stunned. While he had no objections, he was unfamiliar with the place.

However, upon learning it was the territory of the Yonko Kaido, Tiger's expression turned grim.

"Isn't this a bit too risky?"

"Every decision comes with its own risks."

"That's true, but attacking a Yonko head-on puts us at a significant disadvantage."

"No worries, I'll handle Kaido myself."

Seeing the confidence on Chu Yang's face, Tiger refrained from further argument, merely curious about the extent of Chu Yang's current power.

He knew Chu Yang wasn't an arrogant person; without absolute confidence, he wouldn't speak with such assurance.

For now, the plan to seize Wano Country remained confidential until definitive intelligence was received. The crew only knew that the alliance had been successfully formed.

Roughly a month and a half later, Haku, using Jinbei's Vivre Card, found the Sun Pirates.

After brief pleasantries, Tiger took Haku to the captain's cabin.

The crew focused their attention on Haku, who took a deep breath and said, "Our intelligence personnel have thoroughly investigated Wano Country's current state. Dragon has agreed to take action and liberate the nation."

"Dragon's proposal is to have our intelligence personnel continue monitoring the movements of the Beasts Pirates. We'll strike when Kaido or one of his top officers leaves Wano Country."

"Confronting a fully assembled Yonko crew is too risky!"

Hearing this, Tiger thought Dragon's approach was cautious and aligned with his own perspective. He readily agreed.

Chu Yang, on the other hand, was indifferent. With his current strength, he had no trouble taking down Kaido as he was now.

Ten years later, Kaido would be a "gold-star instructor." For now, he was merely a novice fresh out of teacher's college.

Satisfied that both Chu Yang and Tiger had no objections, Haku relaxed. He would stay with the Sun Pirates as the liaison between the two groups.

Meanwhile, the Sun Pirates began slowly moving toward Wano Country, ready to strike the Beasts Pirates at any time.

Another two weeks passed.

"The time has come. Kaido's second-in-command, King the Wildfire, has left Wano Country, apparently for an arms deal."

Haku received a call from the Revolutionary Army and relayed the news to Tiger and Chu Yang.

Hearing about the arms deal, Chu Yang suddenly asked, "Is he heading toward Dressrosa?"

Haku paused, surprised that Chu Yang's guess matched the intel. "How did you know?"

Chu Yang smiled without answering, turning instead to urge Tiger to set course for Wano Country.

At this point, the Sun Pirates were already in the same sea zone as Wano Country. At full speed, they could arrive by nightfall.

Though Wano Country appeared to be an island, what lay exposed was merely the tip of the iceberg. The true Wano Country resided beneath the ocean's surface.

For this reason, Wano Country resembled a towering mountain rising from the sea.

There were two ways to enter. The first was through the secret passage in the back mountain controlled by Kaido, but it was heavily guarded by the Beasts Pirates and could only be opened from within.

The second was to ascend the waterfall at the front mountain, requiring an upstream climb similar to Reverse Mountain at the entrance to the Grand Line, though far more perilous.

This was why Wano Country was easy to defend and difficult to invade.

The mere access route had already turned away countless armies; as long as Wano's forces held the waterfall's entrance, enemies would struggle to force their way in.

A prime example was King's kick that sent the Big Mom Pirates plunging back into the sea.

Since taking the back mountain route was out of the question, the Revolutionary Army and the Sun Pirates could only attempt the waterfall climb at the front.

Kaido had stationed guards at the top of the waterfall. Any attempt by Chu Yang and the others to ascend would inevitably provoke an attack.

To this, Hak explained that Dragon himself would personally deal with the enemies at the summit.

Chu Yang speculated that Dragon was likely a Logia Devil Fruit user, with abilities related to storms, capable of manipulating the weather.

With Dragon clearing the enemies above, climbing the waterfall was no longer an issue.

What are fish-men best at? The answer: communicating with sea creatures.

If koi could pull the Straw Hats into Wano Country, they could certainly do the same for the Sun Pirates and the Revolutionary Army.

The fish-men dove into the water, and before long, a massive school of fish gathered around the pirate ship.

Countless fish began towing the ship upward along the waterfall. Meanwhile, Wano's naturally harsh coastal environment was suddenly cloaked by dark storm clouds.

Fierce winds howled, and torrential rain descended.

The rainstorm obscured visibility for everyone, even the surveillance Den Den Mushi stationed atop the waterfall. The guards monitoring from their posts couldn't hear or see a thing.

Meanwhile, Dragon silently eliminated the coastal defenses.

Under the cover of the storm, the Sun Pirates and Revolutionary Army successfully entered Wano Country.

Inside Wano, in contrast to the tempestuous weather outside, the skies were clear and blue. Even those accustomed to the Grand Line's erratic weather couldn't help but marvel.

After making landfall, Dragon immediately spoke, "Kaido and his officers are drinking and reveling in the Flower Capital. Now is the perfect time to strike him down."

It had been six or seven years since Kozuki Oden's death, and samurai resistance against Kurozumi Orochi's regime still persisted across the country.

Orochi, lacking the strength to suppress the samurai, forced Kaido to remain in Wano for an extended period.

Construction on Onigashima as a base was still ongoing.

Over a decade ago, Gecko Moria had fought Kaido here but suffered a crushing defeat, losing all his comrades. Even so, the Beasts Pirates had also sustained losses.

Moreover, with King handling arms deals, the Beasts Pirates' forces stationed in Wano had dwindled.

At this point, there were no Tobi Roppo, Lead Performers, or Gifters. Kaido's artificial Devil Fruit army was still in its infancy.

King had gone to Dressrosa to handle this matter.

"This operation hinges on us taking Wano before King returns.
