Chapter 136: Chapter 92.3: A Sorcerer’s Way of Fighting!
Voldemort's Horcruxes:
1. Tom Riddle's Diary
Held by Lucius Malfoy, who, paranoid about being exposed as a Death Eater after Voldemort's downfall, was likely preparing to discard it. Dumbledore shouldn't have much trouble acquiring it.
2. The Gaunt Ring
Hidden in the Gaunt family home, the ring bears the Resurrection Stone but is also cursed. Chu Yang had warned about this in the fake book he authored, ensuring Dumbledore would proceed cautiously.
3. Ravenclaw's Diadem
Hidden in the Room of Requirement, it posed no difficulty for Dumbledore.
4. Hufflepuff's Cup
Stored in Gringotts, the supposed "safest" place in the wizarding world, which to powerful wizards, is as defenseless as a backyard. Dumbledore would likely negotiate with the goblins to retrieve it.
5. Slytherin's Locket
A relic of Salazar Slytherin, it had passed through the Gaunt family and was sold to Borgin and Burkes by Voldemort's mother, Merope Gaunt, for ten Galleons. Voldemort later transformed it into a Horcrux and hid it in a cave, protected by a cruel enchantment requiring a potion to be consumed.
The potion inflicted extreme, life-draining agony. Regulus Black drank it and sacrificed his life, instructing his house-elf, Kreacher, to destroy the locket. However, despite Kreacher's attempts, the locket survived due to Voldemort's powerful enchantments and remained hidden in the Black family home.
6. Harry Potter
The final Horcrux was an unintended fragment of Voldemort's soul lodged within Harry himself.
The first five Horcruxes were easier to locate. The last one, however, posed a dilemma—destroying it without killing Harry would be no small feat.
By Chu Yang's estimate, Dumbledore should have found at least three Horcruxes by now. Combined with Harry, four were accounted for. This left two more to secure before Voldemort could be utterly destroyed.
Feeling the time was ripe, Chu Yang decided it was time to reveal his cards.
He had extensively studied Voldemort's Dark Magic, mastered about seventy to eighty percent of it, and combined it with his own research in ninjutsu, kido, and curses. As a result, he had invented numerous counterspells.
With his preparations, Chu Yang felt confident he could eliminate Voldemort without falling prey to any of his sinister magic.
---
Just as he was planning how to confide in Dumbledore, Chu Yang had unexpected visitors in his room: Harry, Hermione, and Ron, concealed under the Invisibility Cloak.
"Hey, Yang, sorry for disturbing you so late, but we need you to come with us," Harry said awkwardly.
"Please, we really need your help," Hermione and Ron added earnestly.
Chu Yang nodded, grabbed his coat, and followed them.
Once outside, Chu Yang asked, "You didn't call me out here just for an adventure, did you?"
The trio hesitated before Hermione finally spoke up, "Yang, did you really meet Voldemort before?"
"Yes," Chu Yang confirmed.
Harry, now visibly agitated, asked, "Was he as terrifying as people say?"
Chu Yang shook his head. "Not at all. In fact, he seemed weaker than I expected."
"Weaker?" Harry was surprised by Chu Yang's response.
He hadn't expected Chu Yang to use such a term to describe the Dark Lord, a name that sent chills down the spines of everyone in the wizarding world.
Hermione and Ron frowned as well—this wasn't the answer they had envisioned.
Chu Yang smiled and said, "If Voldemort were still as powerful as he was back then, he would have openly shown himself to the world by now. Why would he need to skulk in the shadows?"
Hermione couldn't help but nod, deeply agreeing with him.
Chu Yang's positive attitude subtly influenced them, and gradually, they stopped treating Voldemort as some insurmountable terror.
After all, if someone who had seen Voldemort face-to-face wasn't afraid, why should they be? This thought echoed in the minds of Harry and his friends.
"You've finished your questions, so now it's my turn. Tell me, what does Professor Dumbledore want with me?"
Chu Yang's question startled the three of them again.
Hermione asked in surprise, "How did you know?"
Chu Yang replied, "Professor Dumbledore wouldn't have told you about my encounter with Voldemort for no reason."
Hermione suddenly realized she had inadvertently revealed too much earlier and gave an awkward laugh.
Harry took a deep breath and said gravely, "Professor Dumbledore hopes you can accompany me to spend some time in the Forbidden Forest."
The Forbidden Forest?
It housed the mutated war tree born from the Whomping Willow, a herd of unicorns that revered Chu Yang as a deity, and the centaur Firenze, who shared a close bond with him, alongside a centaur tribe that harbored goodwill toward him.
These three factions combined could sweep through anything in the Forbidden Forest. This was his domain.
Dumbledore's request for Chu Yang to stay with Harry in the forest was essentially asking him to protect Harry.
The elderly headmaster, over a century old, had finally resolved to confront Voldemort head-on.
However, before destroying the soul fragments hidden within Horcruxes, Harry remained Voldemort's only chance at a comeback.
Staying at Hogwarts would make Harry a prime target for Death Eaters. But in the Forbidden Forest, not only would he be safer, but the dispersal of Death Eaters' forces could also be achieved.
From Chu Yang's perspective, directly taking the war tree and sweeping through the forest would be far more efficient.
However, Dumbledore still regarded him as a student. Tasking Chu Yang alone with Harry's safety was already his limit.
"Looks like the camping gear I bought recently will finally come in handy," Chu Yang said with a smile and a nod.
"That's great news!" Harry managed a smile amid his nervousness.
"I'm good at setting up tents! George and Fred taught me when we watched the Quidditch World Cup!" Ron said enthusiastically, acting as if they were about to embark on a true camping trip.
"What are you so excited about? Professor Dumbledore said it's Chu Yang and Harry going to the Forbidden Forest, not us!" Hermione scolded, glaring at Ron.
"An extra person means extra protection for Harry, doesn't it?" Ron argued.
"It's not extra protection for Harry; it's extra trouble for Chu Yang!" Hermione retorted, reaching out to grab Ron's ear, but he dodged skillfully.
"Dumbledore said Chu Yang can summon unicorns. Don't you want to see a unicorn?" Ron whispered in Hermione's ear, sounding a bit like a mischievous devil.
For a girl, unicorns were irresistible. Who wouldn't dream of riding a unicorn under the moonlight?
Hermione's stance wavered.
She mumbled, "The Forbidden Forest is dark and scary. With just Harry and Chu Yang, they'll surely be frightened. More people would make it less scary..."
Ron gave her a thumbs-up.
As they talked, they reached Hagrid's hut. Hermione stepped forward and knocked on the door.
Knock, knock, knock.
Hagrid opened the door slightly, looking mysterious. "Come in."
The warm fireplace inside drove away the cold of the night, filling everyone with warmth.
Looking around, Chu Yang asked, "Is Professor Dumbledore not here?"
"He's got more important things to do!" Hagrid replied, carrying out a tray of hot tea from the kitchen and handing it to the kids.
"You're always saying that." Ron mimicked Hagrid's tone mockingly, "Every time we ask about Professor Dumbledore, you say the same thing."
Hagrid's eyes widened as he exclaimed, "You have no idea how important his work is right now! He's..."
"Hagrid!" Chu Yang interrupted hastily.
"Merlin's beard!" Realizing his slip, Hagrid gave Chu Yang a grateful glance.
"In fact, we know what Dumbledore is doing. We gave him that book about Horcruxes," Ron said smugly to Hagrid. "We just don't know where they are."
Hagrid quickly covered Ron's mouth, his dirty hands nearly making Ron retch.
Amid the commotion, Hermione turned to Chu Yang and said, "You probably don't know what Horcruxes are, do you?"
Chu Yang smiled and nodded.
"You don't know something?" Hermione exclaimed excitedly. Being able to show off her knowledge in front of Chu Yang was probably the happiest thing for her at school.
Thus, Hermione began explaining how she had found clues about Horcruxes in a book titled Things You Don't Know About Hogwarts' Hidden History.
Her eyes sparkled like stars in the night sky as she finished, looking expectantly at Chu Yang.
Understanding her intent, Chu Yang immediately praised her, "Hermione, you're brilliant!"
Blushing slightly, Hermione held her head high with pride.
"That's not fair! We discovered it together!" Ron protested, breaking free from Hagrid and dragging Harry along. Harry looked embarrassed.
"Alright, Mr. Clever and Courageous Ron," Chu Yang said with a resigned smile.
Ron nodded in satisfaction. "Exactly, you've got good taste!"
Harry, embarrassed by Ron's antics, turned away, pretending not to know him.
"Quiet down, kids. We're heading to the Forbidden Forest soon," Hagrid said, gesturing for silence.
"Hagrid, can you tell me how many Horcruxes Dumbledore has found so far?" Chu Yang asked casually.
Hagrid shook his head. "Sorry, I can't tell you the exact number, but there are two left."
Judging by difficulty, they were likely the Gaunt ring and Slytherin's locket.
Moments later, Hagrid led the group deep into the Forbidden Forest, stopping by a lakeside cabin.
"Here we are," Hagrid announced, proudly introducing his handiwork.
The cabin wasn't big, but it could comfortably house four people. The interior was basic, with only a bed and a fireplace, and almost no other furnishings.
To Hermione's amazement, Chu Yang pulled out a small handbag and began unpacking items: tents, sleeping bags, camping lamps, folding tables and chairs, tool kits, hanging ropes, carabiners, first aid kits, pots, pans, and more.
As more and more items emerged from the handbag, the other four gaped in astonishment.
"Are you moving house?" Hermione gulped.
"It's not that much," Chu Yang replied, checking if he had missed anything.
Learning Apparition had a clear benefit: he could freely travel between the wizarding and non-wizarding worlds.
"Admittedly, this is better prepared than I was," Hagrid said, coughing to hide his embarrassment. He curiously asked Chu Yang, "Are you into camping?"
Chu Yang nodded. "Ever since the orphanage, I've spent too long in group living. When I get the chance, I prefer some time alone."
Ron, intrigued, examined the camping gear closely. His father's job brought him into frequent contact with the Muggle world, so he wasn't unfamiliar with such things.
Harry whispered, "I remember Professor McGonagall saying Undetectable Extension Charms are forbidden for private use..."
Chu Yang smiled. "If we followed every rule set by the Ministry of Magic, magic wouldn't bring us nearly as much joy."
Hermione nodded quickly. "I agree!"
Harry fell into thought.
