Chapter 104: Chapter 82.2: Conqueror’s Haki Infusion and the Newcomer Corporate Slave, Chu Yang
Chu Yang, having also gained some insight, closed his eyes, carefully recalling the previous moment.
If he could also master the wrapping of Conqueror's Haki, his strength would surely take a huge leap forward.
Shanks once again raised Gryphon and slashed down forcefully, black lightning bursting from the blade.
"Hahaha!"
Shanks burst into laughter, a boundless sense of excitement welling up inside him.
He could clearly feel his Conqueror's Haki growing stronger.
Chu Yang suddenly opened his eyes, clenching his fists, which were now also surrounded by black lightning.
Shanks' laughter abruptly stopped!
He stared, wide-eyed, at Chu Yang's fists, which were wrapped in Conqueror's Haki.
...
In the world of Bleach.
Recently, a spiritual medium named Don Kanonji had become quite popular on television, and all of Chu Yang's classmates were imitating his signature moves.
It almost felt like a cult spreading its teachings.
Even Chad, the usually serious and thick-browed guy, was getting in on the fun.
Tonight, Don Kanonji was going to perform a live exorcism at an abandoned hospital, and Chad asked Chu Yang if he wanted to come along, but Chu Yang flatly refused.
He had no interest in that half-baked guy.
Chu Yang wanted to visit Urahara Shop and ask Kisuke Urahara about some matters regarding the Soul Reapers, but no matter how much he asked Rukia, she stubbornly refused to tell him the shop's location.
It seemed Kisuke Urahara was avoiding him.
But it didn't matter; judging by the plot's current pace, Urahara wouldn't be able to hide for long.
With that in mind, Chu Yang shifted his gaze to his classmate, Ishida Uryū.
This Quincy, one of the few remaining in the human world, would soon cause quite a stir in Karakura Town.
Quincies were a group of people capable of absorbing spirit particles from their surroundings and using them to form weapons to destroy Hollows.
Unlike Soul Reapers, Quincies completely obliterate Hollows, erasing them from existence, while Soul Reapers purify the Hollows of their sins.
A Hollow that is completely destroyed will have its spirit particles entirely vanish, preventing them from entering the cycle of life and death between the Soul Society and the human world, thereby disrupting the balance of souls.
As a result, 200 years ago, the Soul Reapers launched a massacre against the Quincies.
In the end, only a few survived to carry on the Quincy line to this day.
Ishida Uryū was one of the last Quincies in the human world.
This was the Soul Reapers' version of the story.
But the truth of it is questionable.
After all, a thousand years ago, Yhwach, the progenitor of the Quincies, led them in an invasion of the Soul Society, causing widespread chaos.
However, Yhwach's ambitions were thwarted, and he fell at the hands of the founder of the Gotei 13, General Yamamoto Shigekuni.
Otherwise, the Soul Society as it stands today might have been ruled by Quincies.
Perhaps because the existence of Quincies posed a latent threat, the Soul Reapers took ruthless action to completely wipe them out.
The real reason, however, is likely known only to those who gave the order.
As one of the last Quincies, Ishida Uryū plays a crucial role.
Chu Yang had been quietly observing him.
The next day.
The incident Ichigo and his friends caused at the abandoned hospital the previous night was broadcast on TV, and they were summoned to the principal's office for a stern scolding.
Throughout the day, Ishida Uryū's gaze never left Kurosaki Ichigo.
A few days later.
After school, Chu Yang sat in the classroom, quietly waiting.
Seeing him sitting alone, Chad asked, "Yang, it's not your turn for cleaning duty today. Aren't you leaving?"
Chu Yang shook his head, "I'll sit for a while longer."
Chad, a bit puzzled, nodded and walked out of the classroom.
At that moment, Inoue Orihime glanced at Chu Yang. It was already halfway through the semester, and she had never spoken to him.
"Orihime, what are you looking at? Let's go."
Hearing her friend's call, Inoue hesitated for a moment, giving up on greeting Chu Yang, and left the classroom.
Not long after she left, Chu Yang felt an unusual spiritual pressure appear at the school.
But he didn't move, instead focusing on his Breath Technique, maintaining a state of total concentration constant.
The Hollow that had appeared at the school would ultimately be dealt with by Inoue Orihime, who would soon awaken her Fullbring abilities. There was no need for him to intervene.
More importantly, he wasn't interested.
This Hollow, much like the one that had recently transformed from a murderer, was not worth testing his Origin Breathing powers on.
A moment later.
A crack suddenly appeared in the sky.
The crack rapidly expanded, spreading like a shattered mirror.
Countless Hollows fell through the crack, descending upon Karakura Town.
Chu Yang's lips curled into an excited smile.
"It's finally here."
...
In an effort to prove that Quincies were stronger than Soul Reapers, and that this world had no need for Soul Reapers, Ishida Uryū had attracted countless Hollows.
But as more and more Hollows appeared, he began to struggle.
Ishida Uryū realized the limits of his power.
Kurosaki Ichigo urged him to put aside his pride and join forces to defeat the Hollows.
Otherwise, the entire town of Karakura would be in grave danger.
In the end, Ishida Uryū agreed to cooperate with Kurosaki Ichigo.
Both of them were incredibly strong, and their first collaboration displayed an impressive synergy. The Hollows that had descended into the human world were being eliminated at an astonishing pace.
If all went well, it wouldn't take long for everything to return to normal.
Unfortunately...
Things didn't go as planned.
The crack in the sky suddenly tore open, and a pair of massive hands reached out, gripping the edges of the rift, pulling with all their might.
The sky, like a sheet of paper being ripped in half, revealed a gaping void.
From within the void, a Hollow hundreds of meters tall poked its head out, locking its gaze on Kurosaki Ichigo and the others.
Though its face was obscured by a mask, Kurosaki Ichigo had the distinct feeling that the massive Hollow was laughing—laughing maniacally.
Ishida Uryū trembled.
In all his years as a Quincy, he had slain countless Hollows.
But never had he seen one of such immense size.
He wasn't alone.
Even Rukia, with her decades of experience as a Soul Reaper, had never encountered such a Hollow. The only time she had seen anything like it was in a fleeting glimpse from her textbooks at the Shin'ō Academy.
A Menos Grande.
When a Hollow devours enough of its kin, it evolves into a Menos Grande.
Menos Grande typically dwell in Hueco Mundo and are categorized into three stages.
The first stage of a Menos Grande is called a Gillian, which is classified as a lower-level Menos. They are enormous, slow-moving, and have intelligence comparable to that of a beast, acting mostly on instinct.
The second stage, the mid-level Menos, is known as an Adjuchas, whose combat power is several times that of a Gillian. They possess greater intelligence and lead vast hordes of Gillian.
Adjuchas evolve in much the same way as Gillian, by continuing to devour their kind.
However, if an Adjuchas stops consuming Hollows of equal strength, it will begin to degenerate. Once an Adjuchas regresses to a Gillian, it can never evolve again.
Most Adjuchas never evolve further, continuing to exist in their current form.
Only a rare few manage to break through their limits, evolving into the highest class of Menos Grande.
The upper-level Menos, also known as Vasto Lorde.
The Vasto Lorde are much smaller than the previous stages. The higher a Hollow's rank and strength, the more humanoid their form becomes.
At this level, they possess combat power equal to or greater than that of a Soul Society Captain.
The enormous Hollow emerging from the sky rift was a Gillian.
Huge in size but low in intelligence, its destructive power was astonishing.
The combined spiritual pressure from hundreds of Hollows was enough to suppress everyone present.
Rukia intended to help but was held back by Kisuke Urahara, who warned her not to interfere.
A red glow appeared in front of the Gillian's mask, similar to the Tailed Beast Bomb from the world of Naruto.
Cero!
A concentrated beam of spiritual pressure, with devastating power.
The Cero could easily destroy the park where Ichigo and the others stood.
As the red glow intensified, Ichigo was about to charge in when a figure appeared in front of the Hollow.
Excitedly holding a wooden sword, Chu Yang rushed toward the Gillian.
Under the red glow, the Origin Breathing erupted in a dazzling silver light.
Chu Yang looked like a meteor streaking across the night sky.
The next moment.
