Yan Liqiang looked around and calmly said, “I have neither met nor offended any of you. Did you mistake me for someone else?”

“Hahaha, how can my eyes possibly make a mistake!?” Following those loud laughs, three more people came out from behind the thickets and stood behind the thugs dressed in black.

Standing in the middle between those three people who had just come out was a young lord who was gaudily dressed in silk. He had sunken cheeks and bulging eyes which made him look like he suffered from hyperthyroidism at first glance. However, upon looking more closely, his bulging eyes were boring holes into Yan Liqiang as though he were a hungry ghost. His gaze shined with disgusting obscenity.

“I saw you the moment you emerged at the marketplace that day. I never expected such a beautiful man like you to still exist in this world, hehehe…” The gaudily dressed young lord smiled wretchedly at Yan Liqiang. “When Wu Tao and the rest chased you that day, none of them returned. I thought I would never see you again. Little did I expect to run into you again the next day during registration at Soul Mountain Sect’s Hu Provincial Branch. I almost couldn’t recognize you when I was queuing up because you changed your clothes. Fortunately, even if clothes can be changed, you can’t change yourself. I have a few men with me who went to search for you over these few days, and we finally found you here…”

Yan Liqiang squinted his eyes at this disgusting man as he recalled the situation that day during registration at Soul Mountain Sect’s Hu Provincial Branch. He vaguely recalled that he had seen his face. However, there were just too many other people staring at him from all directions at that time. This person was in the queue with the crowd and he didn’t expect for him to be the person behind the series of troubles which befell him upon his arrival at Hu Provincial City.

“Who are you?” Yan Liqiang asked coldly.

“Hahaha. I’m from Fu Zixiang from the Fu Clan. There’s no one in Hu Provincial City who doesn’t know my name!” The gaudy man looked at Yan Liqiang in arrogance with complacency written all over his face. “The largest Thousand Treasures Merchant Group in Hu Province is the Fu Clan’s. My grandfather is one of the Hall Masters in the Soul Mountain Sect. My father is a high official at the Hu Provincial Governor’s Office. The Fu Clan is pretty much an influential and great clan in Hu Province. Now that I have joined the Soul Mountain Sect, getting to the main branch in the future will be as easy as turning over my hand. If you follow me, you definitely won’t regret it…”

Someone like this was nothing more than a pile of turd. To hear this pile of turd boasting so shamelessly, Yan Liqiang was so annoyed that he nearly puked. “Your clan’s background has nothing to do with me and I don’t care which sect you are in either. I’m leaving now, so get out of the way!”

“Brat, you think you can still leave now?” The man with a scar between his brows leaped out and fiercely glared at Yan Liqiang. “I haven’t broken even with you for Wu Tao and the rest. Tell me, what have you done to them? Why did they never return after they went to chase you that night? We haven’t seen any of them alive or their corpses. Did you kill them and bury their corpses somewhere?”

“I don’t know Wu Tao or that Liu Tao you speak of.” Yan Liqiang replied with an indifferent expression on his face.

The man with a scar in the middle of his brows laughed sinisterly. He cracked his knuckles and the cracking noises from the bones were audible. “It seems like you won’t tell us unless we do something. I would really love to see just how long your bones can stand this.”

“Zhu An, don’t injure him too badly and don’t leave any scars on his face…” Young Master Fu worriedly reminded him from the side.

“Rest assured, Young Master Fu. We, the Rising Moon Tower of Hu Provincial City has never met anyone that has not been our match. Let me show you how I will handle this brat…”

“Why are you guys doing something so completely uncalled for in broad daylight? Do you not fear the law?”

“The law?” The people who surrounded Yan Liqiang were slightly taken aback before they roared in laughter together as if they had just heard a funny joke. The person named Zhu An laughed so hard that he teared up. “The laws are only effective against peasants like yourself. If you are disobedient, we will hold you against the law. So what about laws? They are nothing but our words. You really took them seriously?”

Yan Liqiang laughed deprecatingly at himself. He had done everything perfectly and he thought that by doing so, no one would be able to get ahold of any evidence that could be used against him. Yet he had forgotten the fact that logic and reasoning never worked in this world; it had always been violence. Now that the other party had already identified him, evidence and the law didn’t matter to them. The only thing they wanted was nothing more than to bring him down and humiliate him.

Yan Liqiang was a good law-abiding citizen in his previous life. Under imperceptible influence, his subconsciousness in this life had made him consider every action he took in accordance to the law, like when he murdered the Hong Clan in the past as well as Wu Tao and the rest. Although he knew he was committing a crime, he still didn’t want his actions, which violated the law, to be exposed. However, Yan Liqiang was finally woken up now. In this world, laws were merely words for the disadvantaged social groups. Great clans like the Ye Clan of Gan Province and the Fu Clan of Hu Province would never view the laws in the same way. The so-called law was nothing more than a tool in their hands.

From this moment onwards, the word ‘law’ was completely reduced to nothing in Yan Liqiang’s heart.

Upon seeing his opponent getting ready to begin, Yan Liqiang took a deep breath and then stared at Zhu An and Fu Zixiang. “This old man I am carrying on my back is someone I just met on the mountain. He injured his leg when he was picking herbs there. I only helped him descend the mountain. He has never known me prior to this and likewise, I didn’t know him either. I’m going to set him down now. Please don’t make things difficult for him. If you want to do anything, just come at me!”

Fu Zixiang cast a single glance at the old man whom Yan Liqiang was carrying and then spatted, “Who cares about that old geezer?”

The old man who had picked herbs seemed to be intimidated by these people from the Rising Moon Tower. Ever since they appeared, he had been completely silent.

Yan Liqiang took a look around at his surroundings and then walked to the roadside to set the old man on his back down. “Old Man, this is as far as I can send you today. Please take care of yourself!”

After setting the old man down, Yan Liqiang turned around and stared at the group of people who surrounded him. The expression on his face slowly hardened. With a whisk, he pulled out a sharp, short knife from his waist, squinted his eyes, and clenched his jaw. “Come,” he said coldly.

“A brat who isn’t even a Martial Warrior is going to fight with his life?” Zhu An looked at Yan Liqiang and laughed disdainfully. “I will let you know today that children shouldn’t be playing with knives!”

While Zhu An was speaking, his figure flashed. He seemed to have come before Yan Liqiang with just a stride and then he flung his palm towards him…
