Shut Up, Malevolent Dragon! I Don’t Want to Have Any More Children With You

vol. 5 chapter 61 - Imprinted in the Bloodline

“Dad! Dad!”
The little ones had returned and immediately ran forward.

Moon grabbed Leon’s leg, tilting her small head up as she pointed back at Konstantin. She laughed, “Look, Dad, even Uncle Konstantin, who’s always so serious and stern, was making jokes! But his jokes were so abstract and hellish. You have to stop teaching him these weird things!”
Hearing this, Claudia chuckled and placed her hands over her chest. “Sweetheart, your dad’s abstractness is already part of his bloodline. If you stay with him long enough, you’ll inevitably pick it up too.”
After a brief pause, she sighed and murmured to herself, “If that’s really the case, I’m starting to get worried about the Dragon King…”

Leon smirked, ruffling Moon’s hair. “Alright, alright. From now on, Dad will make sure Konstantin sticks to more serious topics.”
“Okay!”
Moon nodded energetically. Her eyes then darted to the wooden box slung over Leon’s back. Curious, she asked, “Dad, what’s that?”

Leon smiled mysteriously. “It’s… a precious gift from my mentor.”
Noa had met Leon’s mentor once before and had told her younger sisters all about him when she got back. Ever since then, Moon and her siblings had been fascinated by this mysterious “grandpa.”
“Is it the grandpa that big sis told us about?” Moon’s eyes sparkled with curiosity.

Leon nodded. “Yes, and if we get the chance, I’ll take you all to meet him. He really wants to see you.”
“Yay!”
As they were chatting, the children on the playground started moving toward the school building—a clear sign that class was about to start.

“Well, I’m off to class now. Bye, Dad, Mom, Aunt Claudia, and…”
Moon turned to glance at Konstantin, who was silently standing nearby with his usual stoic expression. She hesitated for a moment before adding, “And Uncle Konstantin, goodbye.”
After all, he was the only Dragon King who had visited her on the day she was born.

Meanwhile, Muse and Hefei were in the examination hall.
Two invigilators were chatting before the exam officially began.
“This year, there are far more young dragons taking the test than in previous years.”

“And most of them are live-born dragons. That’s never happened before.”
“It’s said to be influenced by the Silver Dragon King and her husband. Their public displays of affection are so widespread that it’s inspired a trend of romance and marriage among dragons.”
The older invigilator added, “Plus, their children are not only charming but also incredibly bright. This has given their lineage a clear advantage in terms of intelligence and learning ability.”
“The first reason is understandable. Even though dragons are naturally combative, many still yearn for beauty in life, such as familial bonds or a marriage as happy as theirs—if we can even call it that.”

“The second reason, however, is pure dragon logic,” the invigilator said with a chuckle.
The exam began with a roll call.
“Vynn Ross?”
“Here!”

“Hefei Konstantin?”
“Here!”
“Muse Melkvey?”
“Here!”
The invigilator paused for a moment, his eyebrows raising slightly at the sight of such prominent names on the roster. He smiled faintly before continuing.

The examination hall fell silent as the young dragons began answering their questions.
Hefei’s eyes lit up as she looked over the test. These were all topics her father had drilled into her—magic theory, dragon history, and a few general knowledge questions.
Leaning slightly, she glanced past the dragon sitting between them and whispered, “Muse! Muse!”

Hearing the whisper, Muse turned her head. “What is it, Hefei?”
“These questions—can you answer them?”
Muse hesitated for a moment before nodding. “I think so.”

“If there’s something you don’t know, I can give you the answer!” Hefei whispered excitedly.
“What? But isn’t that cheating?” Muse asked, her eyes wide.
“Cheating? What’s that?”

Before Muse could explain, a cold voice interrupted.
“Teacher, they’re planning to cheat.”
It was Shari, the young dragon sitting between them. Her tone was icy, her face expressionless, but her words carried a sharpness that silenced both Muse and Hefei.

Shari’s voice wasn’t quiet, and the invigilator quickly approached. The room grew tense as all the young dragons turned their attention to the commotion.
“What’s going on here?” the invigilator asked gently, leaning down to Shari’s level. “Are you reporting someone for cheating?”
“Yes, teacher. Muse and Hefei were about to cheat,” Shari said firmly.

“Hefei,” the invigilator turned to her. “What do you have to say?”
Hefei shot up her hand. “Teacher! I have no idea what cheating even means!”
“… …”

The invigilator sighed and explained patiently, “Cheating means using dishonest methods to achieve results that aren’t rightfully yours.”
Hefei blinked in realization. “Ohhh, so that’s what it means!”
“Exactly,” the invigilator said. “So, whatever you were planning to do, from now on, focus on your own test, okay? And the same goes for you, Muse and Shari.”

The invigilator couldn’t accuse them of cheating outright, as no evidence supported Shari’s claim.
Shari glanced sideways at Hefei, then at Muse, muttering under her breath, “Annoying brats.”
The invigilators handed out the last of the test papers and announced the official start of the exam.

Knowing what cheating meant now, Hefei focused on her test. Muse, too, found the questions familiar, thanks to the extensive prep her father and sisters had provided over the past three months.
However, as Muse wrote, her mind wandered to her father’s promise:
“As long as your score is higher than Uncle Konstantin’s daughter’s, even by one point, I’ll buy you a new instrument.”

Determined, she clenched her fist.
“Sorry, Hefei, but for the sake of that new instrument, I’ll give it everything I’ve {N•o•v•e•l•i•g•h•t} got!”
