Chapter 22: The Sky Reveals – Gaara’s Death in the Future?
"This boy... if he doesn't fall, he'll undoubtedly become one of Konoha's greatest ninjas," said Ōnoki, his voice filled with admiration despite the fact that Naruto was from the Land of Fire.
The praise from a figure like Ōnoki wasn't taken lightly.
"That kid is incredible!" Kurotsuchi exclaimed, her eyes wide with shock.
It was hard to believe that a boy younger than her could possess such power. Even some of the most elite kage-level shinobi had started praising Uzumaki Naruto.
Naruto's name had spread like wildfire across the ninja world. Mothers watching felt their hearts ache for him. A boy so young yet so resilient, whose smile radiated warmth like the sun itself.
"Because they are my comrades..."
Naruto's words from the sky echoed endlessly in Gaara's mind.
"Is that why he's so strong? Because of his comrades?"
The screen dimmed for a moment, and then shifted to a new scene.
On a grassy hillside stood older versions of Naruto, Kakashi, Gai, and their teams. Alongside them were Gaara and his siblings from Sunagakure.
But Gaara was lying silently on the grass, unmoving.
Naruto stood over him, his expression filled with sorrow.
"Whoa! Is that Naruto grown up? What's going on?!"
"The sky is amazing—it's showing the future now? How is this even possible?"
"Wait... is that Gaara? And Sakura too?"
"That's... me?"
Lee stared at the screen, stunned to see his older self. What caught his attention even more was that in this vision, his legs and arms were fully healed.
Neji and Tenten exchanged glances, their expressions shifting from shock to hope. Lee's injuries had been a heavy burden on their hearts, and this glimpse of the future showed a full recovery.
"That's us in the future... but where's Sasuke?"
Sakura's eyes darted across the screen. Something was missing. Why wasn't Sasuke in the group?
"Could he be on another mission?" she wondered aloud.
Sasuke watched intently. Something about the scene felt wrong. The expressions on their faces, their posture—it all seemed filled with grief.
"That's Lady Chiyo!"
Temari and Kankurō gasped as they recognized the elderly figure on the screen. The sight of Chiyo confirmed that something significant had happened.
"Gaara doesn't look right..." Temari said, her voice tinged with worry.
Gaara stared at the screen, his unease growing. The way everyone was looking at him—why did their faces hold such sadness?
Naruto clenched his fists, his teeth gritted, his eyes filled with disbelief and tears.
"Why Gaara... why does it always have to be Gaara?"
"How could he just... die like that?"
"He was the Kazekage! He had just become Kazekage!"
The revelation hit like a thunderclap.
"Gaara... is dead?"
"And he became the Kazekage?!"
"Wait—how could this happen? He just died out of nowhere?!"
"Wasn't he supposed to be saved? Is this what salvation looks like—death?"
Gaara stared at the screen, stunned.
"I... die?"
He couldn't comprehend it. He had just become Kazekage. Why would he die?
"And why... Uzumaki Naruto... why would you cry for someone like me? For your enemy?"
Temari and Kankurō glanced at their brother, their worry evident.
"Gaara... died?"
Naruto's voice trembled as his eyes widened in disbelief.
"How could he die? He had so many people who accepted him. He was Kazekage! He had comrades!"
Naruto's body began to shake, his eyes turning red with emotion.
"Why? Why would someone who had finally escaped loneliness... just die like that?"
"Calm down, Naruto!" Jiraiya said firmly, trying to steady the boy.
On the screen, an older Naruto exploded in anger.
"Calm down, Naruto," Chiyo said softly, though her face was also filled with grief.
Naruto spun around, his tear-streaked face twisted with rage.
"Shut up!"
Everyone froze, silenced by Naruto's raw emotions.
"If you Sand ninja hadn't put that monster inside Gaara in the first place, this wouldn't have happened!"
"Did you ever ask Gaara how he felt about it?!"
Naruto's voice grew louder and more furious with every word. He wasn't just accusing the Sand, but the entire system that treated jinchūriki as tools rather than people.
"Do you think anyone wants to be a jinchūriki?!"
Naruto's accusations left the Five Great Nations in silence.
Being a jinchūriki was a fate no one chose. From the moment of their birth, their lives were filled with pain, rejection, and hatred.
Gaara's eyes softened as he watched Naruto on the screen.
"Why... why would you cry for someone like me?"
The scene continued. Naruto lowered his head, using his sleeve to wipe away tears as his voice cracked.
"I couldn't save Sasuke... and now I couldn't save Gaara either."
"Even after three years of training, I'm no different from before."
"Sasuke?!"
Sasuke's eyes widened at the mention of his name.
"What does Naruto mean? He couldn't save me?"
A chill ran through Sasuke's body as a terrible thought crossed his mind.
"Does that mean... I die in the future?"
"What does he mean he couldn't save Sasuke?!"
"Wait... could Sasuke really die?"
"That's insane! How could this happen?"
Even Kakashi's eyes darkened as he watched the screen.
"This can't be true. Sasuke, don't jump to conclusions," Kakashi said quickly, trying to calm his student.
