Shinigami: Medicine Can't Save The Soul Reaper Society

Chapter 28: Chapter 28: Two Similar People

Ayasegawa couldn't help but rub his forehead again and said,

"Be serious. It's the gynecology department we're talking about. Even if we count the cleaning and cooking staff, we don't have five women in the entire division."

"Who says male Shinigami can't go to the gynecology department for treatment?"

Ikkaku said boldly, "Is there a problem with gender reassignment?"

"Alright... fine..."

Ayasegawa responded weakly, feeling unable to argue against Ikkaku's logic. He even had a nagging feeling that Ikkaku was just looking for an excuse to watch Makoto's misfortune.

But Ikkaku wasn't bothered by what Ayasegawa thought. He simply dragged him toward the training grounds not far away, both of them putting on their seat officer armbands.

Ikkaku Madarame, 19th seat of the 11th Division!

Ayasegawa Yumichika, 20th seat of the 11th Division!

Unlike the seat officer appointments of other divisions, the 11th Division's criteria, set by Kenpachi Zaraki, had just one rule: combat!

As long as one's strength was sufficient, it didn't matter if it was a seat officer or even the captain's position—anything could be given up!

So, after Ikkaku and Ayasegawa joined the 11th Division, they quickly took the 19th and 20th seats, respectively.

"Gather up!!!"

As soon as Ikkaku and Ayasegawa arrived at the training ground, Ikkaku immediately shouted, calling out to the subordinates who were still training late at night.

Suddenly, nearly fifty strong men, many of whom were shirtless, exposing large muscles, appeared before Ikkaku and Ayasegawa.

"Listen up, everyone! Senju Makoto from the 4th Division is my brother-in-arms, my beloved friend..."

"Ahem..." Ayasegawa coughed quietly, reminding Ikkaku that his wording was a little off.

"Beloved?!"

This was very likely to be misunderstood!

Ikkaku looked at Ayasegawa with confusion before slapping his chest and continuing, "Now, Senju has been assigned to the gynecology department, and we can't just let that slide. So..."

At this point, Ikkaku's voice rose significantly as he declared, "Tomorrow, we'll all show up and help Senju. We'll take turns seeing patients with him. Got it?"

"Yes!"

Although the large men didn't fully understand, they immediately agreed without hesitation to such a righteous cause. Their sweaty muscles, gleaming in the night, seemed to exude a unique charm and youthful energy.

Seeing the enthusiasm of Ikkaku and his subordinates rise, Ayasegawa felt a headache coming on. He couldn't shake the feeling that this plan wasn't entirely reliable.

"But, perhaps this could be a good opportunity. How could Senju enjoy being stuck in the gynecology department? If we stir things up a bit, maybe the captain will step in and transfer him to the 11th Division?"

Ayasegawa's eyes brightened as he immediately rushed toward the courtyard where Zaraki Kenpachi of the 11th Division resided.

----

As Makoto carefully made his way back into the courtyard, he was surprised to find, as usual, the graceful figure of Unohana enjoying her breakfast. Interestingly, there was another portion set out across from her, prepared for someone else.

Makoto let out a quiet breath of relief. After a respectful bow, he took a seat across from Unohana.

Unohana appeared no different from her usual self, her demeanor unchanged. In a soft voice, she asked, "Makoto, you're a bit later than usual today. Where did you go last night?"

With that, Makoto chose to downplay his inner thoughts slightly and began recounting his unexpected encounter with Aizen the previous evening, explaining how he had spent the night training in the gynecology department.

However, to his surprise, Unohana seemed entirely unphased by his story. She responded as if she had already anticipated it. "The technique for separating the Shinigami's power? That Aizen, the vice-captain, actually asked you for help with that?"

"Yes, Sensei, I'm just as confused as you are. I really don't understand anything about it," Makoto replied, his voice tinged with uncertainty.

Despite having expected this reaction, Makoto couldn't help but realize the true depth of Aizen's strategy. It became evident that Aizen, a man not easily caught off guard, had likely prepared every detail in advance. He had conducted his research in the open, yet no one questioned his true motives.

How terrifying... Makoto couldn't help but marvel inwardly.

Unohana fell silent for a moment, then looked at Senju Makoto and said, "Makoto, Aizen's assessment of you was not wrong. You possess great potential, and your talent in both the Kaido and medicine is exceptional. There's no need to belittle yourself. In fact, what you lack most at this point is confidence, do you understand?"

"Yes, Sensei," Makoto answered, nodding obediently.

Unohana continued, "That's why I made sure to spread word of your abilities. It's also to help you get in contact with patients more easily. I believe from today onward, you'll start receiving requests for treatment. This will be your opportunity to truly test your abilities. Do you understand?"

Makoto froze for a moment. He looked up at Unohana, whose gentle gaze unexpectedly made his chest tighten.

So, in reality... was Sensei's boasting at the captain-level meeting not for face-saving, but rather to prepare for this very moment?

"Yes, Sensei," Makoto nodded solemnly.

At last, Unohana hesitated slightly, before speaking again.

"By the way, Makoto, if possible, try to keep some distance from Aizen Sosuke."

Makoto's heart skipped a beat at the mention of Aizen's name. His expression showed a trace of confusion as he asked, tentatively, "Why, Sensei? Aizen seems like a reliable person with a good character."

"Yes, Aizen does seem to have a good personality—gentle, dependable, considerate toward his subordinates, and both his power and abilities are impressive…" Unohana confirmed, before her voice took a more serious turn.

"However, sometimes he gives me a sense of danger, and I can't quite see through him. So, Makoto, it's better for you to keep a safe distance."

"Understood," Makoto replied earnestly.

Sensei, this is one thing I'll strictly follow, so don't worry. Makoto couldn't help but think to himself.

Just then, however, Unohana looked at him with a sudden flash of doubt in her eyes. Her crescent-shaped eyes widened slightly, and she murmured to herself, "I just realized… Makoto, you remind me a bit of Aizen. Except for the sense of danger I instinctively felt, sometimes I can't quite read you either. And you, too, are so gentle..."

??

Senju Makoto.

At that moment, he couldn't help but panic slightly.
