Chapter 219: Chapter 220: Just You?
Outside the Villa, Makoto's Guess Was Astonishingly Accurate…
Upon confirming that Koga had entered a villa concealed by a barrier, Fon had the urge to charge in recklessly and ensure Makoto's safety. However, her rationality and composure ultimately prevailed, and she chose to summon reinforcements first.
After all, based on the known intelligence, apart from Koga's Zanpakuto suppression ability, he was also a powerful Shinigami who had mastered Bankai. Fon was acutely aware that she was no match for such an opponent.
Power!
While calling for reinforcements, Fon's gaze remained locked on the nearby villa. A surge of desire for strength erupted within her, growing several times stronger in mere moments.
Despite being so close to Makoto, without sufficient power, she couldn't even confirm his safety! Without power, she could do nothing—nothing at all!
At that moment, the barrier opened, and several figures emerged in succession. Among them were Koga and two manifested Zanpakuto spirits, Senbonzakura and Shinro Bansho, as described in Byakuya's report.
Fon's eyes swept across the group, finally landing on a stretcher being dragged by Senbonzakura. The figure lying on it, wrapped heavily in bandages, had an obscured face.
"Damn it!!"
In an instant, rage flared in Fon's mind, and without further thought, she charged straight towards Makoto's position in a flash.
Though her Shunpo skills were on par with most captains, Koga intercepted her midway.
"Boom!"
After a brief exchange, Koga's overwhelming spiritual pressure forced Fon back.
"Onmitsukido?!"
Koga's eyes narrowed at her distinctive attire, his heart momentarily gripped by surprise.
Fon, however, glared at Koga with murderous intent and demanded, "Hand over Makoto right now!"
Koga's expression twitched. Realizing he had been exposed, he had no intention of exchanging words. He lunged at Fon without hesitation.
"Bang! Bang! Bang… Boom!"
Although Fon's Hakuda skills were exceptional, the vast difference in spiritual pressure allowed Koga to endure some of her strikes before delivering a powerful kick, sending her flying.
"Fon!"
Makoto, lying on the stretcher, struggled to raise his hand. With a weak but urgent voice, he shouted, "Go, Fon! Leave me! I'll be fine!"
"No!!"
Hearing his familiar yet frail voice, Fon's eyes turned bloodshot. Trembling with fury, she shouted, "How dare you injure Makoto to this extent! Unforgivable! Unforgivable!!"
Koga opened his mouth as if to explain, but upon reflection, he realized he did bear some responsibility. If it weren't for Muramasa's ability to manifest Shinro Bansho, Makoto wouldn't have suffered severe injuries while trying to prevent Shinro Bansho from assaulting Senbonzakura.
Even though Fon knew the intelligence warned against releasing her Zanpakuto near Koga to avoid accelerating the rebellion of the Zanpakuto spirits, a single thought dominated her mind at that moment—kill Koga and rescue Makoto!
"Sting All Enemies to Death! Suzumebachi!"
In a flash, Fon's Zanpakuto transformed into a golden stinger on her finger. With her body turning into a blur, she launched another attack on Koga.
Despite having released her Zanpakuto, and despite her Shunpo and Hakuda being on par with Koga's, the significant gap in spiritual pressure once again caused her to be blasted away.
"Fon! Stop it! Leave now!"
Hearing Makoto's urgent plea again, Fon knelt on one knee, her trembling hands pressed against the ground. Her mind was in turmoil as she watched Makoto being taken away, with Koga blocking her path.
At that moment, time seemed to slow for Fon. The familiar voice of her Zanpakuto, Suzumebachi, grew clearer, resounding in her mind…
Just then, a gentle voice laced with boundless killing intent whispered into her ear, snapping her out of that strange state.
"Where do you intend to take my disciple?"
A fragrant breeze passed by, and the kanji for "Four" on the back of a captain's haori appeared before Fon's eyes.
"Captain Unohana?!"
Fon was initially startled but soon overjoyed. She hurriedly exclaimed, "Captain Unohana! Koga is trying to take Makoto away, and he's already severely injured, wrapped entirely in bandages!"
Unohana's normally serene eyes lifted slightly, glancing past Koga at the stretcher being dragged by Senbonzakura. Makoto's body was wrapped in blood-soaked bandages, with his right arm and left calf showing unnatural bends.
Unohana's chest rose and fell as her habitual gentle smile vanished entirely. Though Koga, as a member of the First Division and a son-in-law of the Kuchiki family, didn't know Unohana's past, he could sense the oppressive aura emanating from her.
'A mere Fourth Division captain using an illusion-type Zanpakuto? Nothing to fear.'
Before Koga could dismiss her entirely, Shinro Bansho, fully aware of Unohana's terrifying reputation, abandoned Koga and Senbonzakura, fleeing at once to avoid any possibility of being skinned alive by her.
"Soi Fon, you've done well…"
Unohana calmly gripped her Zanpakuto, her voice devoid of emotion. "Leave the rest to me. No one will take Makoto away in my presence."
Hearing this, Koga, who had been feeling inexplicably uneasy, suddenly raised his chin in defiance. With a mocking gaze, he sneered, "Just you?"
