Shinchan: Chaos of Anime Multiverse

Chapter 87: Chapter 87: Commanding Wind and Rain! Summer Fireworks, Spring Chapter!

"Shin-chan, did you notice? Yukinoshita-san's gaze toward you today seemed a little strange." After a boring math class, Kazama leaned over to Shin-chan and whispered cautiously.

Today, Yukinoshita Yukino had arrived late, and ever since she sat down, she had been occasionally sneaking glances at Shin-chan, her gaze extremely complicated.

She didn't know how to face Shin-chan now. As a friend? Or…

Yesterday's events had shaken Yukino's entire worldview, there really were monsters in the world, and humans really could turn into cats.

Did science even still exist? If it had been only that, she could've accepted it. After all, she and her sister had turned back.

But the biggest problem now was, Shin-chan had seen her completely. Totally, entirely, not a shred left unseen.

What Yukino couldn't accept most was, her sister had been seen too! And even though she'd stood in front of her sister, Shin-chan was still captivated by Haruno.

Were all men really this shallow, or did she just have no charm?

She wanted to bite Shin-chan to death, but the thought that Shin-chan had recognized her instantly still made Yukino feel deeply touched.

If that couldn't be called real, what could? Even after becoming a different species, Shin-chan had still recognized her.

Conflicted and tangled emotions made Yukino's gaze today so complex that even Kazama noticed something was off.

"Maybe she just didn't sleep well yesterday? Don't worry about her."

The dragon does not roar, the tiger does not growl. A small A-cup dares challenge me? Laughable.

Yukino, when she was in cat form, might've been even more appealing to Shin-chan.

"Are you really not worried? I feel like she wants to eat you alive."

Yukino's gaze made Kazama a little scared. 'Why are all the girls around Shin-chan so terrifying?'

"Relax, Kazama."

"Wha—!"

Kazama almost screamed when Shin-chan blew a warm breath right into his ear.

"You jerk! How many times do I have to tell you not to do that!"

"Does this mean Kazama dislikes me now?"

"Forget it! I'm done talking to you! I still have to review."

Looking at the book in his hands, Kazama felt a little troubled. Their first entrance exam was coming up, and his grades weren't the best, not even as good as Yukinoshita's.

Getting into a good university wouldn't be a problem. He even had a shot at Tokyo University. But now that he was in Shuchiin, Kazama definitely wanted to push himself further and achieve better scores.

"About this weekend's kendo match, are you really going to be okay? Will it be bamboo swords or real swords?"

Although he worried about his grades, Kazama was more concerned about Shin-chan's upcoming weekend kendo match.

He could catch up on cram school later, but if something happened to Shin-chan during that kendo match, Kazama would regret missing it for the rest of his life.

"I'm not sure. Probably real swords?"

Since it was a kendo match, of course it had to be a real-deal, no-holding-back kind of thing. Using wooden swords wouldn't reflect real skill, it'd be pointless.

For swordsmen in this world, knowing how to go easy and not hurt your opponent was part of the required skillset.

Matches between kendo practitioners were all about precision and restraint.

Still, accidents could happen. A moment of malice, a slip of the hand, and "swords have no eyes."

But kendo warriors earned great income. Even with the high risk, many people still chose to train to become professional kendo fighters.

"Real swords?!" Kazama's jaw dropped. He couldn't believe it.

"That's way too dangerous! Maybe you should just skip it?"

"Don't worry, Kazama. I'll be fine. And the one I'm fighting is someone I know, it's just a small test."

"Really?"

Kazama still felt that using real swords was too dangerous. With Shin-chan's insane talent, why not pick a sport that wasn't life-threatening?

"Trust me. Don't worry."

Kazama remained skeptical. He thought about how Ai-chan would be going this weekend too. If anything even slightly dangerous happened to Shin-chan, he and Ai would team up and make him change sports immediately.

"Alright then… let's just keep studying for now."

———

At noon, as usual, Shin-chan had lunch with Ai-chan.

"Shin-chan, are you confident about this weekend's match? Do you need my help?"

Ai-chan was still enjoying her rare lap pillow time, this was one of her few chances to relax each day.

"Don't worry. I've got the kendo match under control."

"As expected of Shin-chan."

"Oh right, Shin-chan, do you want to go to Akita for the Spring Chapter Fireworks Festival at the end of the month? It's been so long since we saw a fireworks show."

April in Japan is the start of the school year. At the end of April, as spring draws to a close, Akita holds a grand fireworks event. It's called the Spring Chapter, the closing chapter of spring.

'Fireworks festival, huh… Looks like another busy weekend ahead.'

"Sounds good."

"Shall I invite your friends as well? I can make the arrangements."

"I'll leave it to you, Ai-chan."

Shin-chan assumed Ai-chan would invite the usual Kasukabe Defense Force gang. What he didn't know was, Ai wasn't just inviting them, she also planned to summon every "sneaky cat" girl who had recently appeared around Shin-chan… and establish her dominance.

For everyone involved, this fireworks festival was sure to become an unforgettable memory.

"Oh, and there are two more people I'd like to invite."

"Nobita Nobi and Shizuka Minamoto, right? Don't worry, Shin-chan. I definitely won't forget them."

Although Ai had left Japan long ago, she had a crystal-clear grasp of Shin-chan's social network. Of course she would invite Nobita and Shizuka to the fireworks festival.

"I'll cover their expenses. I recently acquired some company shares."

"You mean from Fushikawa Publishing and the Yukinoshita family? Shin-chan really is quite capable."

"But you don't have to worry about the fireworks festival. The Suotome family holds shares in the event. There's also a Suotome hotel nearby. No costs for tickets or accommodation."

Since Japan isn't that big, travel expenses wouldn't be an issue either.

"Thanks, Ai-chan."

Being able to attend a fireworks festival with friends made Shin-chan look forward to it even more. Youth only lasts for a moment, it's important to make as many precious memories as possible.

After school, Shin-chan still didn't go to the Service Club. Instead, he chose to return to the Kendo Club to continue training.

He really did care about this weekend's match, not because he wanted to inherit a dojo, but because he wanted to discover his own way of the sword.

After all, he was born a sword prodigy. Even without flashy techniques, his pure reflexes and physical ability already put him above everyone else in this era.

But a swordmaster isn't the end of the road. Shin-chan wanted to go even further.
