Though Yukino could understand why someone like Kaguya might be friendless, she also knew that for someone like her to suddenly want to make more friends, there must be a reason.

For people like them, friends weren't a necessity. Having them was nice, but not having them didn't affect their lives much.

This question wasn't part of Kaguya's script. Does a desire for friendship really need a reason?

Though her motives weren't entirely pure, her yearning for friendship was real.

Kato wanted to raise her presence. Kaguya wanted more friends.

For Kaguya, becoming friends with someone as extremely average as Megumi would be a refreshing experience.

And for Kato, becoming friends with the famous Kaguya Shinomiya would instantly raise her presence.

"Let's treat this as a trial, get to know each other, and who knows? Maybe you'll become real friends."

Kaguya hesitated for a moment, but nodded.

Megumi had no objections. She was the type of incredibly gentle girl who rarely refused anyone, and she understood Yukino's intentions.

If she could become friends with someone like Kaguya, and more people started noticing her, maybe her existence would change.

"Let's exchange numbers, then." Megumi took the initiative, wanting to exchange contact info with Kaguya.
