Chapter 5: Chapter 5: Saving the Boy (2)_1
What are you waiting for, Qinghe beamed brightly, her two plump little hands deftly began to strip off the clothes. Not bad, not bad, the coat is off, now for the shirt. Just as she thought about stripping off the shirt, her pristine little hands paused, her delicate eyebrows raised, slowly furrowing her brow as she looked down at herself, then at the boy lying on the ground.
Her little face was full of conflict; Qinghe now felt like crying. This must be someone playing a joke on her, right? Where did this troublesome kid come from, neglected by his parents? The boy looked to be about eight or nine years old but was so thin. Sobbing, she finally had clothes, but she couldn't wear them.
So, Qinghe burst into tears. It was like being hungry and having a piece of meat placed in front of you, only to realize, in your excitement to eat, that darn it, you had no teeth.
Therefore, Qinghe resolutely turned her attention to the middle-aged man who was clearly dead. Initially, she felt a bit uncomfortable stripping clothes from a corpse, but since she couldn't wear the child's clothes, she had no choice but to strip his.
"Uncle, you look like a kind person who loved to help others. You're already dead and don't need them anymore, so please donate your clothes to someone as poor as me who doesn't even have a single piece of clothing. I will always remember your great kindness and generosity."
Qinghe murmured non-stop as she deftly continued stripping the clothes. She was speaking nonsense to the fierce-looking brute.
"You can go in peace now. Oh, right, judging by your appearance, you were protecting that kid, weren't you? Don't worry, I will definitely save him. You can rest easy. I'll take good care of your belongings too."
Done at last, Qinghe sat down on the ground with a thump, satisfied as she nodded at the man now wearing only an undershirt and shorts. Of course, she would have been more satisfied if he had been wearing more clothes.
"He who accepts a favor should return it," Qinghe thought, as she wiggled her little bottom over to the boy.
Looking at the arm that was still bleeding, she rolled up his sleeve. Since she had already taken off his coat, rolling up his shirt was a breeze, revealing the wound.
It was a gunshot wound, Qinghe sighed. Having too much money isn't always good, it seems. Such a young kid and already he's been injured and kidnapped. As for how she knew he was kidnapped, it was simple.
The man lying next to him clearly looked like a bodyguard. She had also just sensed fluctuations in people's auras in the forest. Then, looking at the dead man's body, there were no external injuries, but his internal organs had all been shattered. Clearly, he had fallen from a great height, undoubtedly from an airplane.
The man had used his own body as a human cushion. He died instantly upon hitting the ground, which is why the boy rolled off him to the side, only sustaining minor injuries.
The child was dressed in a formal suit for a banquet, likely a result of his family's negligence, which had allowed him to be kidnapped. Somehow, the bodyguard was also brought onto the plane, and they must have jumped in an attempt to escape.
This kidnapping must not be simple; otherwise, the bodyguard wouldn't have risked a nine out of ten chance of dying by jumping with the child. If the kidnappers just wanted money, they wouldn't have needed to go to such lengths.
As Qinghe meticulously analyzed the situation, she began to treat the boy's wound with the dagger she found on the man.
The boy, who was already breathing more out than in, became even weaker with her rough handling. Qinghe didn't mind at all, confident as she took out the bullet, then gently laid her hand on the bloodied, mangled wound.
A soft green glow emanated from where her hand touched, filled with boundless vitality. Even the surrounding grass seemed invigorated, growing greener and more robust.
Almost two minutes had passed, "Done," Qinghe murmured, removing her hand and saw that the flesh, which had once been a blur of blood and gore, had now scabbed over. The wound, deep enough to expose bone, was nearly healed, with some areas even sprouting thin layers of pale pink, new flesh. An injury that would typically take close to half a month to reach this stage, Qinghe had dealt with in just two minutes.
Sensing the boy's life force, now gradually growing stronger, and his increasingly steady breathing, she knew the little boy's life was no longer in danger.
Having healed the little boy, Qinghe now faced a dilemma. This guard had been willing to sacrifice his life to protect his charge, and a kidnapping that involved an airplane all pointed to the boy's extraordinary identity.
That meant someone would surely come to his rescue. Even if no one came for him, those who kidnapped him were bound to show up, right?
Could she take this opportunity to leave? Qinghe's plump hand stroked Xiaohe while her gaze remained fixed on the child she had saved.
The real reason she hadn't left, aside from the vastness of the forest that made it hard to do so, was that she was a six-year-old girl with no family; even if she did get out, what was she supposed to do, beg for a living?
Even if she was capable, who would believe a little girl? Now was an opportunity. Having saved the little boy's life, she was his savior. His family should be able to support her, get her registered, something like that.
In the Primitive Great Forest, a child raised by wolves, who could speak human language and heal injuries, was indeed bewildering. If she acted like an adult, that would only invite suspicion, and things might end up just like they had in her previous life, trapped in a lab again.
But if she pretended to know nothing, acting mute, how would anyone know she was the one who saved him? Sigh, really, Qinghe scratched her head, wondering what era was she worrying about when she knew the current situation.
Looking at the little boy, she decided to first find him something to eat and take the time to think carefully about what to do. Even if she was going to leave, she'd have to say goodbye to the wolves first. Without them, she would've been devoured by the beasts in the forest long ago.
Noticing the little boy's sweaty forehead, Qinghe, uncharacteristically kind-hearted, wiped it for him. Who knows, this child might very well be her future provider.
As Qinghe turned to search for food and water, she didn't see the boy's trembling eyelashes, as if struggling to open his eyes before closing them again.
Qinghe ran swiftly through the forest, her black hair smooth as satin flying behind her, as if she was one with the forest, as if she truly belonged there.
She went back to her little home to get a bamboo tube for water and noticed that her stored food supply had run out. She would have to gather some now.
She grew up drinking animal milk, and in her infancy, with no alternative, she drank that somewhat fishy-tasting milk. As soon as she grew old enough to talk and move on her own, she refused to drink it any longer.
At first, she had the wolves bring her game to roast and eat. When she got older, she hunted for herself. Survival of the fittest was the rule everywhere, but it was especially evident in the forest.
The big ones ate the small ones, the capable devoured the incapable. This was the natural food chain of animals, and even with the power of Nature's Force, she couldn't intervene. If all animals coexisted peacefully, what would they eat? Would they just wait to starve to death?
