That idea was initially dismissed as being contrary to the way things worked. But making a proper swimsuit for her was not out of the question. By then, the heat had likely already gotten to their heads, so they just went ahead with that idea, eventually ending with the new swimsuit for her.
「It’s really hot these days, so I’m sure there will be days when you’ll feel like jumping into the sea, or a river, or a waterfall, or a pool, so when that time comes, please use these!」
One of the maids there, Tabatha, exclaimed while holding multiple sets of swimsuits, which they had prepared as a sort of underwear replacement, almost like they wanted Mira to wear a different one each day.
Obviously enough, they made Mira try out every single one of them, as well as the different inner pants they were prototyping, all the while taking more pictures of her. They said they would need those pictures as reference for their next meeting.
「Something new for fall…so I’ll have to endure all of this again soon…」
Once the seasons advanced, Mira would need fall clothes and not swimsuits, and Lily was already starting to design said clothes.
Mira sighed thinking about that, but other than that, she felt like she was in heaven.
It was a bit tricky to handle the overzealous maids, but they always prepared Mira’s favorite desserts for her, which made it much easier to endure.
「Nothing comes close to the maids’ cakes.」Mira had consumed a considerable amount of sugar from the maids’ dessert when they were done using her as a dress-up doll. Once she had enough, she left the maids’ chambers, with all of the maids seeing her off.
She had received three sets of swimsuits, which would likely come in handy sooner or later, considering it was still summer. Maybe it was just the right timing, but Mira decided there was no need to think about it more.
When it came to the thing in the research area beneath the castle that Solomon had mentioned, she still had no answer. She had tried asking Lily and even Tabatha and the other maids, but all of them evaded the question.
In the end, she still did not know what kind of secret lay there, but now that she knew the maids were involved somehow, she decided it was better to not think about it too much.
She next stopped by the workshop on the western side of the castle to pick up her wagon.
When she entered, Doug came out to greet her, and informed her that the wagon was in perfect shape and hardly needed any work done.
The braces on top, the part that was under the most stress when Mira used the wagon, still looked the same as the day they were built. Nothing had come loose, and everything was in order. In the end, all they did was add oil to the wheels and wash it.
He still had some questions for her, mainly about the ways she was using the wagon, and then he told her about an addition they made to it while performing maintenance.
When she saw it, she noticed it right away on a corner of its roof. It was an air conditioning unit, made by the castle’s Magic Engineers, and which would make her travels much more enjoyable.
But it was also still a prototype, so they wanted to know her thoughts on it once she had used it for some time.
Once everything was done, she was given the wagon back, and after she thanked Doug, he went back into the workshop. With her wagon in front of her, she decided there was no better time to try the vehicle container Solomon had given her.
「Ohh, this is incredible!」
It really was a strange sight as the whole wagon was absorbed into the small box. And then when she opened the lid and placed the box on the ground, the wagon came right back out.
She repeated that a few times, pleased with the results. Now, she could stay at any inn without worrying about finding a parking place, and more importantly, she would not have to pay any additional parking fees.
Since it was still something new to her, she decided to place her wagon in her Item Box and left the castle on foot. Mira’s first destination after leaving the castle was Lunatic Lake’s busiest commercial district.
With her current objectives completed, she had quite a lot of time in her hands. So she decided to go sightseeing around Lunatic Lake, as she had been wanting to do that for a while.
So far, she had only seen the castle and the Academy, but she knew the city had changed considerably as well, so she wanted to take a walk and see that.
「Yes, it’s all looking good.」
Mira looked around the city, noticing how much it had grown and developed across the last thirty years, feeling like a proud parent watching the growth of their child. At the same time, she also felt some growing respect for Solomon’s efforts protecting it for all that time.
「Oh right.」
As Mira walked along the main street, she saw the Union buildings and recalled something. When she was staying at Gran Rings on her way to the Ancient Underground City, they had told her she had received mail from a fan, and she told them to deliver everything to the Union in Lunatic Lake so she could pick it up there.
Feeling like a celebrity, she briskly headed to the Spellcasters’ Union.
Lunatic Lake’s Union was built like a library, with shelves filled with books useful to adventurers, which anyone could read within the premises.
The books were available to people not registered as adventurers as well, as Mira could see various kids there, who were studying to become adventurers in the future. Some workers were also accompanying them, acting as teachers.
Arkite was known as the country of spellcasters, and housed the best Academy of the continent, so it was no surprise that so many kids there were also planning on becoming spellcasters.
「I was told I received a present from a fan?」
Once she reached the reception counter, she held out her adventurer license while saying that with a somewhat smug voice. Being able to imply having fans was something that gave her a boost in confidence.
「Let me check it out, please wait a moment.」
The receptionist gave a light smile as she replied to Mira, who looked full of expectation, and passed the card through a device. Once she verified something on it, she walked away somewhere.
「Sorry for the wait. Here’s what arrived for you, Mira.」
Saying that, the receptionist placed a small box in wrapping paper and an envelope on the counter. The receptionist also gave her two forms to sign, one for each item, as they had been sent by different people.
「Please sign here to confirm you’ve received them.」
「Hmm, alright.」
It felt a bit strange to sign when receiving items sent by fans, and Mira could not stop thinking about that as she signed both forms.
Curious about it, she asked why she needed to sign for unsolicited items, and the response was a bit awkward but also made sense. It was to prevent Union workers from absconding with packages, as had happened once in the past.
(Hmm… Being famous like Sero, or that Jack Grave and Eleonora must be pretty hard.)
Mira could imagine famous adventurers receiving piles of fan mail, and just having to sign for each individual item had to be a mind numbing time. But she was still happy to receive hers.
