Chapter 66 Bringing Persistent Haunting to the Extreme
Elder Murphy narrowed his deep eyes, "What do you want?"
Hope Williams smiled faintly, "It's very simple, if I win, I would like all of you to apologize to me for today's doubts."
Elder Murphy stared at Hope Williams for half a second, finally giving a meaningful smile, "Girl, say that again if you can win."
*With her reputation as it was, having all the medical staff in the hospital vote on this department director position was like pushing herself into a dead end.*
*They all knew perfectly well that Hope Williams could not possibly win.*
*A woman doctor with a tarnished reputation and rumored misconduct, who was temporarily dismissed just after taking office, might not even be able to see patients in the future.*
*What did she have to prove to them and conquer the entire hospital?*
*But she was simply too proud.*
*Impossible tasks were just that—impossible, without any suspense.*
*But she just wouldn't believe it...*
She said, "No, I will win."
Her eyes were full of determination.
"Haha, alright, I'm looking forward to it!"
Joy Ward had never been so excited as at this moment. In just one month's time, Hope Williams would become a laughingstock for everyone.
*It was simply wonderful.*
This time she not only wanted to pull her off the department director's position, but she also wanted to drive her out of the hospital.
No, not just the hospital.
The entire medical world, making her despised, ruining her reputation, to the point where she wouldn't even have patients, just the thought of it made Joy Ward's heart surge with excitement.
Hope Williams, just wait and see.
You were done for.
Hope Williams lingered inside for over half an hour. When she came out, she quickly dialed Luke's number.
"Mommy." Luke's soft, warm voice came through, and as soon as Hope Williams heard her two babies' voices, the shadow in her heart was instantly dispelled.
Hope Williams asked gently, "Did Aunt Bailey pick you up and take you home, sweethearts?"
Hope Williams had recently hired a family nanny specifically to pick up and drop off Luke and Willow when she was busy. After all, Hope Williams didn't want a repeat of the time when the two kids snuck out secretly.
*It was terrifying. If it happened again, Hope Williams might end up in the operating room herself.*
"Aunt Bailey did pick us up and take us home, but Mommy, are you working overtime again today? Why didn't you have time to pick us up?" Willow asked softly.
"Yeah, Mommy has been so busy lately," Luke pouted slightly, also a bit dissatisfied, "But Mommy, how did your dinner with bad Daddy go today? Did you two make up? Did you explain everything clearly? Did bad Daddy make Mommy angry?"
This was what they truly cared about.
A sudden barrage of questions left Hope Williams smiling wryly, not knowing which to answer first. Thinking it over, she said, "Everything went pretty well."
"Details? What about the process?" The two little ones weren't letting her off, continuing to press.
"Are you two possessed by Aria Richardson or something? You're even nosier than your godmother," Hope Williams said, resting her forehead in exasperation.
"Hearing Mommy's voice, it seems like you're in a good mood today, with a hint of a smile,"
Hope Williams retracted her smile, "Really?"
"Yeah, yeah." The two little detectives wouldn't miss a detail, and after their barrage of questions, Hope Williams couldn't help but give in.
"Alright, Mommy will come home a bit later today. I have to go to the Lewis Family to treat Grandpa Lewis. You two need to stay put at home and be good. Aunt Bailey will make you something to eat."
"Okay, Mommy, be careful. We're waiting for you to come home," Tо rеpоrt еrrоrs, plеаsе visit thе оriginаl pоst оn М|VLЕМРYR.
Hope Williams smiled warmly, "Alright."
"Goodbye, Mommy, muah muah ~"
Hope Williams walked downstairs holding her phone, when a smug voice called from behind, "Hope Williams."
Hope Williams furrowed her smooth brows slightly, not stopping her steps, while the person behind her continued to follow, smirking, "You still haven't admitted defeat?"
"You really take persistence to a haunting level," Hope Williams said coolly.
"Haha, within a month, you'll be out of the hospital. We won't see each other then, so I naturally want to see you more now. Hope Williams, if I were you, I'd admit defeat early to spare yourself the embarrassment of not getting a single vote in the end. I'm embarrassed just thinking about it for you."
Joy Ward laughed flamboyantly, proudly, as if she could already see Hope Williams losing and being driven out of the hospital in disgrace, herself being the winner, destined to take the department director's position.
Hope Williams responded with a cold smile, silent.
"Hope Williams, just wait. This time, I'll make sure you're humiliated and can't even remain in the medical world."
"Fine, I'll wait."
Hope Williams couldn't be bothered to argue further with this woman, not wanting to say another word, and walked briskly away.
Outside, at some point, a light rain began to fall. It was deep autumn, and a wave of chill struck. Hope Williams wasn't dressed warmly and shivered slightly, looking into the distance to see a tall, slender figure in the misty rain.
The man had strikingly fine features, standing there with a black umbrella, exuding an air of inherent nobility, an overwhelming oppressive presence.
He approached her slowly with the umbrella, stopped in front of her, and tilted the umbrella toward her.
The man's strong presence enveloped Hope Williams, who felt momentarily dazed, looking up at the tall man before her.
"Have you been waiting long?" His low, magnetic voice slowly sounded by her ear.
Hope Williams gently shook her head, "I just got here. Actually, if you're busy, you didn't have to come. I could have gone myself."
Just as Hope Williams finished speaking, that persistent, haunting voice sounded again, "Waylon."
Joy Ward approached with a smile on her face, walking naturally to Waylon Lewis's side, almost directly ignoring Hope Williams's presence, gently and familiarly taking Waylon's arm.
Even though she pretended to be calm, Hope Williams still noticed her forced smile and the uncontrollable panic beneath.
She was afraid that if she were one second too late, Waylon Lewis would be taken away by her.
"Waylon, how did you know I was being discharged today and came to pick me up? Thank you. Oh, I was just planning to visit Grandpa Lewis today. We might as well go together."
