She Belongs To The Devil

Chapter 792: Unspoken Gaze

Ariel and the others were having a hearty breakfast. The King and the Queen of Romania, and Theodore were also sitting down together to have breakfast along with all the children.

The table was full of varieties of dishes like cornmeal porridge, pie stuffed with spinach and cheese, patties stuffed with mashed potatoes, doughballs, tea, milk, etc.

The Princes and Princesses of Wyverndale were taking special interest in those dishes that were new to them.

"I hope the food isn't too bland for your taste," King Louis asked Theodore.

Theodore shook his head and replied with a subtle smile on his face, "No, it is actually quite tasty. I really like them all."

"And what about you all?" Joyce asked her cousins so as to engage them in the talk and lighten up their sour mood.

"I like this pie," Zach pointed at a huge chunk of the pie on his plate and then gulped down half a glass of milk.

The others also pointed out their favorite items and ate and drank while chatting with each other.

Theodore had been looking around for the cat while elegantly nibbling on the patties. And when he didn't see the cat even after several minutes, he looked at his daughter and asked, "Ariel, where's your cat? You didn't lock him in the room, did you?"

"Oh, our Princess owns a cat?" Queen Helena showed interest when she heard the word 'cat'.

Ariel gave an awkward smile and nodded her head. "Yes, Your Majesty. I recently got him." She then quickly turned to look at her father and replied, "He was meowing a lot. So, I took him back to Wyverndale and left him there."

"You took him back?" Theodore asked in a surprised as well as concerned voice. "Will he be okay alone?" he asked. What he really meant to ask was if it was a good idea to leave Herbert alone.

Ariel understood what her father meant to ask her. So, she gave a nod and replied, "He isn't alone. Arion is keeping his company."

"Ah! That's fine then," Theodore said and instantly let out a sigh of relief. If Herbert was left in Arion's care then he was sure that he didn't wouldn't need to worry.

Queen Helena smiled at Ariel and said to her, "Oh, dear. You didn't need to take your pet back just because it was meowing. Cats are supposed to do that. No one here would have minded some melodious sound."

"He seemed a little agitated because of the change in environment. That's why I thought it was better to take him back home," Ariel smoothly answered the Queen, and then thought to herself, "I'm sure you wouldn't find Herbert's voice to be melodious once he starts to mock you."

After they all had their breakfast, they headed to yesterday's meeting room to rest for a while before heading out to see around the capital city. Theodore had also joined them since he was going to tag along with the young ones.

Theodore wasn't yet aware that everyone in the room already knew about what Herbert truly was. So, he avoided talking about Herbert altogether.

And Ariel was thankful because she knew all too well that the whole mood would turn sour again if they were to talk about Herbert.

After a while, a maid came and informed them that the carriages were ready.

Vlad and Joyce led everyone out of the meeting room and towards the parking area.

Theodore hadn't gotten the chance to properly talk to Damien apart from the brief meeting at the cave. So, he put his arms around Damien's shoulder and walked together with him. Explore new worlds at empire

"So, Damien, is your back alright?" he asked Damien even though he already knew that the boy was okay. There was no way that he wouldn't be okay when he had taken the pill prepared by the Goddess.

Damien smiled and nodded. "Yes, Your Highness. It is okay, all thanks to Ariel."

The memory of Ariel feeding the pill to Damien flashed in front of Theodore's eyes. He quickly shook his head and instantly changed the topic, "So, your mother knows that you are leisurely roaming on Earth? Else I will be summoned for an emergency meeting."

Damien felt a little embarrassed after recalling how his mother had made Lucifer call the emergency meeting of all the Princes of Hell. So, he quickly replied, "I came here after informing my mother. She knows that I am with Ariel."

"That's good then," Theodore said while patting Damien's shoulder.

"And… tell me more…"

Theodore and Damien kept on talking with each other.

At the back, Ariel was walking alongside Zach in silence.

Kenneth hadn't gotten the chance to talk with Ariel properly. So, he took the opportunity and caught up with Ariel. "Ary, how are you doing?" he asked in a concerned voice.

Ariel looked at Kenneth's worried face and answered politely, "I am doing fine, Kenneth." She also showed her concern to him, "And, how are you holding up after yesterday's incident?"

Kenneth shrugged his shoulders and replied, "I can't wrap it around my mind yet. I had never thought that I would find another angel as well, or rather, I had never thought that I would get pathetically defeated by another angel apart from you."

All of them now arrived at the parking area for the carriages.

Vlad and Joyce got busy assigning the carriages to their guests.

And while they did that, Ariel took the chance to ask Kenneth, "Umm… can we talk privately sometime later? I need to have a proper conversation with you."

Kenneth's heart instantly throbbed like never before. He already had some idea of what that talk was going to be about.

A part of his heart wanted to run away from that conversation. He didn't want to hear what she had to say. However, the other part of his heart wanted to listen to what his eyes had already seen. He wanted a proper closure.

Although he was hurting a lot, he forced a smile on his face and agreed, "Sure. Anytime you want."

Ariel gave a mirthless smile and mumbled, "I will find you later then."

"Find you later," Kenneth replied in a hushed tone.

The two of them then exchanged a glance with each other and got inside separate carriages.
