Chapter 643: The Paradise Edge
The next day was also full of fun.
They all set off early in the morning. The Royals sat inside a single carriage from the beginning of the travel so that none of them would get bored.
They played games, Zach sang a song and got beaten by everyone, they ate together, and also enjoyed the view.
And by nightfall, they arrived at the town of Aberdeen which was near the port.
The town was called The Paradise Edge. And as the name suggested, that town indeed looked like a paradise.
The Princes and Princesses who had never been there before were looking out of the windows in awe.
"Whoa! Is this what the real paradise looks like?" Zach asked in an awe-struck voice. And he even declared, "This town looks more beautiful than The Golden Street."
The others couldn't deny it.
All the houses here were painted with vibrant colors. The streets were paved with shiny black stones. The shops had all kinds of souvenirs, clothes, shells, jewelry, and many more on the display. The people of that town looked very kind and hospitable.
In short, the town had a very different vibe. They were already feeling as if they had reached their destination.
"Do you also like this place?" Kenneth glanced at Ariel's captivated face and asked.
"Very." Ariel nodded without taking her eyes away from the beautiful shop that she was staring at right now.
Kenneth curiously looked out of the window to see what she was looking at. He smiled because she was staring at the shop which was full of swords, daggers, knives, and such weapons.
As Kenneth and his guards had been using this route several times now, his guards took them to their usual guest house.
It was located a little further away from the center of the town.
But nobody minded a little more travel by the carriage when they arrived at the location. Unlike the small guest houses in the villages which would only offer small rooms and simple food, this guest house looked more like a small Palace.
It had a huge compound of its own. There were beautiful gardens, a small pond, and several small one-story buildings inside the compound. It also had stables for the horses and open space to stop the carriages.
The four Royals from Wyverndale were impressed by this extravagant guest house.
"Are you sure this is not a Palace?" Zach asked Kenneth in a whisper.
Kenneth also whispered back, "It's not a Palace. But it only serves guests who are rich. Normal people can't even afford this place."
"I figured out that much," Zach replied.
Several servants of the guest house came to aid their guests in tying their horses, and parking their carriages.
The person who looked like the owner of the guest house came running to greet the Crown Prince of Brenalia.
He looked like a middle-aged nobleman. He had a round tummy, grey hair, a pointy mustache, and a wide smile on his face. He was wearing a shirt, a pair of pants, and a waistcoat. And he was also wearing a round hat. It looked as if he was purposely dressed like a foreigner to impress the Crown Prince.
He bowed low to the Prince and spoke in an utterly smooth voice, "Your Highness, welcome to our humble place. I was thinking about when you would return and here you are. I am really lucky that I got to host you again."
Kenneth smiled and gave a nod to acknowledge that man. He then gestured towards the Royals of Wyverndale and introduced them, "They are the Princes and Princesses of Wyverndale, and also my friends."
That man's smile widened even more. "Ah! The Royals from Wyverndale…"
He rubbed his palms together and bowed low to all the Princes and Princesses.
And he said in his unusually soft and smooth voice, "It looks like today is the luckiest day of my life. I can now die happily after meeting such great personalities on a single day."
All the four Royals had an awkward look on their faces. The man's happiness sounded too fake to them and they didn't know how to react.
Ariel looked at Kenneth who was all smiles and was easily going along with that man's fakeness.
"Why don't you show us your best rooms, Mr. Allen?" Kenneth asked politely.
"Ah! Of course, Your Highness." That man clapped and turned around. "This way, please," he started walking ahead of the Royals and led them towards one of the buildings.
There were plenty of rooms so the Royals got to stay in separate rooms. For the others, another building with relatively larger rooms and several beds was shown.
"You like the room, Princess?" Allen asked Ariel after showing his best room to her.
Ariel nodded her head and answered, "It's pretty decent for a guest house. This will do for tonight."
"Oh, you're too kind, Princess," Allen laughed and bowed.
But Ariel could tell that he was a little hurt because she didn't sugarcoat her words like he had been doing.
The Royals had access to the bathhouse after two days of traveling. So their respective maids and servants helped them with their bath.
Ariel took her time to soak her body in the lukewarm herbal bath.
The other Royals had already gathered in the garden and were enjoying some delicious fruits.
After freshening up and changing into a clean gown, Ariel also joined the others.
Kenneth asked Allen to quickly serve them dinner so that they could go on a stroll around the main square of The Paradise Edge.
As asked, Allen served a delicious buffet to all the guests.
And after gobbling up the dinner, Kenneth led the Royals to the square which was still bustling with people.
Only five of the guards, one each belonging to the five Royals, followed the Princes and Princesses. They had disguised themselves in normal clothes so that they could easily blend with the crowd.
"I will take you all to a shop which all of you might find interesting," Kenneth said as he took the lead and walked ahead.
The other four were walking behind him while looking at the busy street, people, and shops.
"You are blocking the path," Zach said out loud to Ariel and suddenly pushed her to the front.
Ariel got slammed on Kenneth's back.
"Zach!" Ariel turned behind and shouted. Read new adventures at empire
But Zach also turned around and avoided her as if he didn't do that on purpose.
Kenneth didn't let the opportunity created by Zach go to waste. He thanked that kid inwardly and held out his hand for Ariel. And he asked, "It's better if we hold hands. You might get lost in this crowd."
The street was really full of people and they were constantly getting pushed. So Ariel agreed and took his hand. She didn't want to get lost in some new town.
She had the teleportation ability but as she barely used it, she forgot that she wouldn't actually get lost unless she remembered the guest house or at least the face of one of the people who came with her.
Kenneth tightly held Ariel's tiny hand and walked as he felt firecrackers exploding in his heart. He wished that the moment would never end.
However, something kept on interfering with his happiness.
Ariel suddenly pulled her hand away and ran in the opposite direction at a speed normal to a human.
"Ariel? Where are you going?" Kenneth turned around and called for her.
But she kept on running further and further away.
