Chapter 640: Truth or Dare
After traveling for five hours straight, all of the horses and carriages stopped to take some much-needed rest and to have lunch.
They had reached a village named Midwood. Some of the guards looked for a nice shop that could prepare lunch for them. The coachmen and the rest of the guards tended to their horses' needs.
And the personal maids and servants came to find their respective Princes and Princesses.
"Osanna, you didn't feel nauseous, did you?" Ariel was concerned for her maid since this was the first time Osanna had stepped her foot outside of the Palace in several years. And she was obviously not used to riding the carriages.
Osanna nodded her head and said, "It was a little difficult. But I think I am getting used to riding the carriage."
"Drink some water and wash your face. And rest while you can," Ariel instructed Osanna and handed a water pitcher to her.
But before leaving to freshen up, Osanna asked the Princess, "Do you need help with something?"
"No, I'm good." Ariel then pointed towards the table where the others had settled down and said, "I will be there."
Kenneth had taken the liberty to place orders for food for everyone. All the Princes and Princesses were sitting around one of the tables. And Ariel also joined them.
As soon as Ariel joined, Niylah glanced at Ariel and asked, "Ary, why don't you join our carriage after having lunch? Ramon keeps on sleeping like a log and I get bored."
Ramon frowned and denied the accusation, "Hey! I didn't sleep that much. Don't lie."
And also Zach instantly protested, "No, Ary stays with me. I don't want to get stuck with Kenneth. What if he gets hungry and decided to drink– Ahhhh!"
Ariel pinched Zach's ear and pulled him. And she scolded him for speaking mindlessly, "Don't say that, Zach!"
Kenneth smiled seeing how Ariel had just defended him.
Niylah was poking Ariel and was trying to non-verbally convince her to change the carriage.
Kenneth saw that and he came up with a suggestion, "Why don't we all sit in the same carriage? If we don't decide to lie down then there will be plenty of room to sit comfortably."
"Agreed!" Niylah instantly slammed the desk and smiled.
Ramon, however, said in a monotone, "What? It will be too congested. I don't agree."
Zach then enthusiastically said, "Then Niylah can join our carriage. Ramon can use as much room as he wants if he is alone."
"Don't make me the odd one out!" Ramon picked up the fork from the table and threw it while aiming at Zach's head.
Zach instantly caught the fork and threw it back at Ramon. "Then don't be an arse and just join us."
"Fine," Ramon rolled his eyes and agreed. "Let's sit in a single carriage like scared chickens."
After a short while, their food arrived. As this was not their Palace, they all settled for meat and potato stew, along with some bread and fried eggs.
Though the food wasn't prepared by the Royal chefs, and the ingredients were simple, they found the food extremely delicious. Maybe it was because they had traveled a long way and were hungry, or maybe because they were enjoying the meal together in a faraway village.
After finishing lunch and strolling around for a while, they all got ready to travel again.
As they had agreed earlier, all of the Princes and Princesses sat together inside a single carriage.
Ramon and Niylah took the seat on one side of the carriage while the others sat on the opposite side. Even though Ramon didn't like Kenneth that much, he volunteered to sit right opposite the Crown Prince.
Ariel took the side with the window and so did all the others. Zach was the only one without direct access to the window.
When he realized that, he folded his arms and frowned, "This is unfair. I feel hot already."
Ramon smirked and taunted him, "Now, who's talking?"
Kenneth laughed and said to Zach, "You will be fine once the carriage starts to move."
"You're right. It's cool now," Zach agreed after they started moving again.
They were all busy watching the fields and villages from the window, except Zach. He could only catch partial views of the outside world. He got bored quickly. So he suggested to everyone, "Why don't we play some games?"
"What kind of game can we play in a moving carriage?" Ramon asked disapprovingly.
"No one brought the cards? We could totally play the cards here," Zach looked at everyone and asked but he got disappointed when no one spoke up.
Zach pouted and mumbled to himself, "Ugh! What's wrong with you adults? If I knew no one would bring the cards then I would have brought the snakes and ladders board with me."
Niylah giggled and teased Ariel and Zach, "You two still play that stupid game?"
"Hey! It's not stupid!" Both Ariel and Zach shouted almost simultaneously.
Niylah wrinkled her brows and said, "Okay… you don't have to shout."
Enjoy new adventures from empire
Kenneth smiled at the two who were sitting beside him. And then he suggested, "I have one suggestion. There's a very popular game in our Kingdom. We would normally need a bottle but let's do it without it."
"What game?" Ramon raised one of his brows and glared at Kenneth.
Kenneth enthusiastically turned to face everyone and then said, "It's called a game of truth or dare. We will go turn wise, starting from… let's say me. And I need to choose between truth and dare. If I choose truth then any one of you can ask me a question and I will have to answer truthfully. If I choose dare, one of you can give some task to me and I will have to do it."
He looked at everyone and asked, "How does it sound?"
"I'm down with it," Zach was the first one to agree. He wanted to do anything other than stare aimlessly at nothing.
Ariel also nodded and agreed, "It sounds good."
"I'm also in," Niylah looked at her brother and gestured for him to agree as well.
As everyone was ready to play, Ramon also agreed.
Kenneth clapped his hands and began, "Let's get started then. I will go first. I choose truth."
Zach shot his hand in the air and put forth his question before anyone else, "You aren't going to take us to some unknown land and you aren't going to eat us, right?"
The twins face-palmed themselves while Ariel pinched and twisted Zach's ear.
"Ow! Ow! Leave my ear! I'm just confirming what I already know." Zach shouted because Ariel was not leaving his ear.
Kenneth, on the other hand, simply laughed. He wasn't offended by that question. So he played along and replied to Zach, "No, I am not going to take you all to an unknown land and eat you."
He then glanced at Zach and asked, "Do you want to go next?"
Zach grinned and said, "Dare."
Ariel instantly said, "Keep your mouth shut for an hour."
Everyone in the carriage burst into laughter when Ariel gave that dare to Zach.
Ramon was the one who liked that dare the most. He clapped his hands and said while laughing, "That's perfect for him. Now we don't have to listen to his rambling for an hour. Ah! Bless our ears."
