Chapter 4: The First Confrontation
Training with the ancient scrolls was both exhilarating and frustrating. The Shadow Manipulation technique was intricate, requiring precise control over both chakra and physical movement. The system guided me through each step, breaking down the technique into manageable parts. The more I practiced, the more I began to see the subtle manipulation of light and darkness around me.
I spent days perfecting the technique, bending the shadows around my body, learning how to weave them into a tangible force. It was exhausting work, but the rewards were worth it. Slowly, the shadows began to respond to my will.
The first time I fully manifested the technique, I felt the power surge within me. The shadows coiled around my hands, twisting like living things, pulsing with an energy of their own. I could feel them reaching into the environment, shifting the very fabric of space around me. The technique was like a dance, an art form, and the system was teaching me every move.
But it was during one of my training sessions that the man appeared again.
This time, he didn't hide in the shadows. He stepped forward, his black cloak flowing behind him, his eyes glowing with a sinister light. "Impressive," he said, his voice smooth like velvet. "But you're still far from mastering the technique. You're not ready."
I clenched my fists. "Who are you? What do you want with me?"
The man's smile deepened. "I've been watching you, Sora. You're powerful, but you lack control. If you want to unlock your full potential, you'll need more than just the power of your eyes. You need experience, training, and perhaps... a mentor."
I didn't trust him. I couldn't. But part of me knew that he had answers to questions I hadn't even begun to ask.
"Why are you helping me?" I demanded.
The man stepped closer, his eyes narrowing. "I'm not helping you," he said softly. "I'm merely preparing you for what's to come."
Before I could respond, the man dissolved into the shadows once more, leaving me standing in the garden alone. I was left with more questions than answers, but one thing was certain: my journey was just beginning.
