Shadows of the Deep Space

Chapter 21: Chapter 21: Bravery

Chen Tong clenched his fists, his bones cracking audibly, filled with extreme unwillingness.

At that moment, two parasite-infested students who were blocking their path suddenly pounced at them.

Su Ming's nerves were taut as he quickly calculated possible responses, but unfortunately, all outcomes led to a dead end.

Just when they were feeling somewhat hopeless, suddenly a huge figure fell from above.

Boom~

The two parasite-infested students were instantly squashed, black blood splattering everywhere.

A Training Mecha·Iron Head landed powerfully in front of Su Ming and the others.

"Training Mecha!"

Su Ming said, slightly surprised.

"This place is dangerous, you need to run towards the sports field now."

The voice of Lin Chuyu came from the Training Mecha·Iron Head, then she deftly maneuvered the mecha to leap over Su Ming and the others, and with one punch, she exploded a humanoid parasite that was catching up.

These young Chilami parasites were like ants in front of the mecha.

After dealing with the parasites attacking Su Ming and his group, Lin Chuyu headed towards the rampaging parasites in the distance.

At this moment, Mink, who had survived the ordeal, took a long breath and said with great joy.

"We're saved, let's hurry to the sports field."

"Okay!"

Chen Tong immediately responded.

Just as the two of them were about to run to the sports field, Su Ming grabbed both of them, breathlessly saying.

"Don't run towards the sports field, it's not safe."

"Why wouldn't it be safe? It's wide open there, and the guards and security will also gather there."

Mink asked, full of confusion.

Su Ming explained to the two, panting.

"Come on! Think about it, the sports field is wide open, but how many people from the school are running there? That place will definitely be overcrowded, and with how nimble the rat swarm is, that handful of guards and security can't possibly hold, and when the rats get into the crowd, it's going to be a disaster."

"Then where do we go? Is there any other place that's safe?"

Chen Tong looked at Su Ming with frustration.

"Let's head to the Mecha Training Field, there should still be some training mechas there."

Su Ming replied, still gasping for air.

"Yeah! So far, we've only seen one training mecha, there should be many more there!"

Mink suddenly realized.

"I can't believe you, with your stupid brain, can come up with a good suggestion, let's get a mecha and blow these damn monsters to pieces."

Chen Tong was also feeling incredibly frustrated, needing somewhere to vent his anger.

"Then let's go!"

Su Ming said, adjusting his breathing.

The three of them immediately ran towards the training field, passing numerous panicked students along the way.

Teachers holding flamethrowers guarded against the parasites, continuously shouting to the running students.

"Run to the sports field, watch your step, if you see any rats or strange creatures, immediately keep your distance...."

....

Su Ming and his group had a clear goal, running against the fleeing crowd.

At that moment, a female teacher saw Su Ming and the others, and immediately shouted at them.

"Where are the three of you going? You're running the wrong way, don't run over there."

"Sorry, teacher, we have something we need to do!"

Mink turned his head and shouted back loudly.

Seeing this, the female teacher sighed and could only let Su Ming and the others be, unable to control them.

Su Ming and his group ran towards the northern area of the school. Since the dormitory buildings were located in the lower north, and Lin Chuyu had just fought her way from ahead, the route was relatively safe, with no visible parasites.

A few minutes later, Su Ming and his friends arrived in the northern area.

"It seems safe here, I don't see any infected people, we're really lucky!"

Mink said, feeling very fortunate.

"Don't let your guard down, let's rush over there, the training ground is right ahead."

Su Ming said breathlessly.

"Pfft, it's you who can't run, not us."

Chen Tong replied irritably.

"I know."

Su Ming struggled to keep up, feeling like he was about to drop dead.

Before long, the trio saw the huge training ground, its gate still wide open.

"It's right in front of us."

A look of ecstasy appeared on Su Ming's face.

Chen Tong and Mink were also extremely excited. Once they got on the Mechas, those Chilami would be mere fodder.

However, just as victory seemed within reach, suddenly a faint, hoarse squeaking sound arose.

Su Ming, with a sharp sense, felt a chill down his spine and instinctively sensed the danger as he shouted.

"Watch out!"

Chen Tong and Mink were startled by Su Ming's sudden scream and stopped immediately.

At that moment, they saw a rat emerging from the gate of the training ground, its dark red eyes fixating on them.

The next second, seven or eight rats followed, their mouths split open, oozing mutated cellular fluid.

Clearly, they had failed to find prey inside the training ground and had run out upon hearing the noise.

"What do we do now?"

Mink asked, his scalp tingling.

"What can we do, rush over and grab a Mecha, otherwise we'll all be bitten to death."

Chen Tong was nearly driven mad, especially since victory was so close.

"Don't be impulsive; our chances of rushing past are less than one percent. These rats are very agile."

Su Ming quickly urged Chen Tong.

At that moment, Mink took a few steps back, speaking nervously.

"They're charging at us!"

Just as Su Ming was about to grit his teeth and tell Mink and Chen Tong to split up and run back, a jet of flames shot past, instantly igniting several rats.

The remaining deformed rats, like hornets disturbed from their nest, scattered in all directions.

Su Ming and the others were taken aback, then turned their heads, and when they saw who it was, they were genuinely surprised and exclaimed.

"Mr. Tang!"

There was Mr. Tang, wearing pajamas and holding a portable flamethrower, running towards them, looking very worried as he asked.

"Are you guys alright, any bites?"

"No, Mr. Tang, what are you doing here?"

"I heard the alarm and rushed back to the school with the flamethrower first. I came here to get a Mecha. Wait, what are you guys doing here?"

Mr. Tang stopped midway through his explanation and sharply asked.

These kids weren't supposed to be running away to safety; what were they doing here?

"We also came to get the Mechas!"

Su Ming and the others replied awkwardly.

Hearing their answer, Mr. Tang was also taken aback. However, he didn't dwell on it and simply waved his hand.

"Follow me!"

Su Ming and the others followed Mr. Tang towards the training ground, with Mink asking worriedly along the way.

"Teacher, are you alright?"

"What's the point of worrying about that now? If anything happened to you guys, I would never forgive myself."

Mr. Tang replied gravely, well aware that this incident would definitely result in many deaths, including perhaps many of his students.

Hearing this, the hearts of Su Ming and the others warmed. Mr. Tang, walking ahead, suddenly appeared much taller.

Minutes later, Mr. Tang led Su Ming and the others successfully into the training ground, where four Training Mechas stood silently.

"Just four, one for each, hurry up!"

Mr. Tang ran straight towards Training Mecha·Iron Head No. 2.
