NOVEL WEB Chapter 8: Battle in the Depths
Chaos erupted as Obsidian Collective agents stormed into the lab. Victor and Raul immediately engaged, taking cover behind the console and firing at the approaching guards. The sound of gunfire echoed through the room as Mira ducked behind a containment unit, scanning for a way out.
“We need to destroy the virus now!” Mira shouted over the gunfire. “Lila, can you trigger a self-destruct sequence?”
Lila, crouching behind a terminal, frantically worked to override the system. “I’m trying, but the security here is too tight. It’s going to take time.”
Victor took out two more guards, his movements swift and precise. “We don’t have time!”
Suddenly, the room shook violently as an explosion rocked the facility. The lights flickered, and water began to seep through cracks in the walls. The pressure outside was starting to take its toll on the structure.
Amir looked around, his face pale. “The whole place is going to collapse!”
Mira knew they had no choice. “Lila, we need to trigger the overload manually. We’ll have to blow the reactor.”
Lila’s eyes widened. “That’ll destroy the entire facility—and us with it.”
Mira nodded grimly. “It’s the only way.”
